The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO-Chapter 225 - 221
I was speechless and just silently stared at Damon
Damon walked to the car, opened the passenger door, quickly got in, and sat down. "I was just joking. Take me to a nearby hotel"
"Why donโt you drive yourself?" I was somewhat reluctant. ๐ฏ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ต.๐ฌ๐ธ๐
"Out of gas. I was in a hurry to find you, I didnโt have time to fill up." Damon replied calmly.
I had to admire his composure. He not only figured out where I was going but also called me from a distance, not missing a single beat.
But, even without Damon, I needed to find a place to rest
Ben liked peace and quiet, living in a villa in the suburbs. So I still had to drive into town to find a place to sleep.
I didnโt say much and just drove off
On the road, I discovered that Damon had actually fallen asleep in the passenger seat. He looked a bit vexed; even in sleep, his brows were slightly furrowed. Then a ringtone rang. It was coming from Damonโs pocket. He was deeply asleep with no reaction.
I pretended I didnโt hear it, but the phone rang again and again, like it wouldnโt stop unless it was answered.
Finally, the phone woke Damon up. He took out his phone, took a glance, answered the call, and put it aside. "Who is this?"
It seemed like an unknown number
"You finally answered my call!" Arielโs voice came through, excited, even a tad choked up
Upon hearing Arielโs voice, Damon wanted to hang up.
Ariel seemed to have anticipated Damonโs intention, quickly adding, "Damon, the Brooks family is on the brink of collapse; you donโt need to think about Eliana anymore. Why let her drag you down?"
Damon looked at me, his hand hovering over the โend call button
I kept a poker face, pretending I hadnโt heard. After all, Ariel had said that countless times in front of me
"What have you been up to behind my back?" Damon deliberately asked. I knew he was asking for me.
"You should know, it doesnโt matter what I want to do, what matters most is my mom. She loathes Eliana as much as I do." Ariel gave Damon the straight dope.
I already knew Nancy was a major player in that. Without her, Ariel wouldnโt have been able to accomplish anything.
But I never expected Nancyโs values to be the same as Arielโs, both harboring deep hatred for me
Damon asked again, "So what are you trying to say, that I should cut off all ties with Eliana?"
"Shouldnโt you? Itโs been so long since you two divorced. She might have been worthy of you in the past, but not anymore, and you know about her dadโs issues. If you keep associating with her, youโre bound to get into heaps of trouble" Ariel spoke in a rush, seemingly desperate to convince Damon.
I took a long look at Damon. How could he not understand those things?
Suddenly, a white dog appeared out of nowhere and I jumped, blurting out, "Where did this dog come from?!"
Hearing my voice, Ariel fell silent for a few seconds at the other end, then said angrily. "Damon, are you with her again? Have you forgotten that sheโs Jonesโs girlfriend now?"
I was helpless, I didnโt mean to piss Ariel off.
But she and Damon had nothing to do with each other anymore. She had no right to be angry.
"You donโt need to remind me" Damon responded coldly
"If I donโt remind you, youโll keep making mistakes. Even though you donโt love me anymore, I truly love you. I would never harm you" Ariel explained passionately. "Jones is already avoiding her, why are you still with her?"
The mention of Jones made my mood even worse
Damon knew that as soon as Ariel heard my voice and knew I was nearby, she would definitely not provide any more useful information
So he hung up the call.
Ariel stubbornly called back, only to be hung up on by Damon again and finally added to his blacklist
Seeing him do that, I couldnโt help but say, "You also like adding people to the blacklist, donโt you?"
Damon had that habit, including me.
During our five-year marriage, he often blacklisted me. Either had to change my number to contact him or find a chance to meet him and try to get him to unblock me.
Damon laughed a bit, his tone slightly cheerful, "If youโre saying you learned this bad habit from me, then I can forgive you for blacklisting me".
I did imitate him. I loved him for ten years and imitated him for ten years. I made a conscious effort to mimic his habits and his way of speaking.
I didnโt say anything, I just quietly watched Damon laugh beside me
The night road was somewhat desolate, and the atmosphere in the car fell into silence. Damon suddenly turned on the music, playing the songs I usually love the must play songs when I play the cello.
Hearing the music, my mood relaxed a bit.
"Why is it still these songs?" Damon asked with a frown, "After all these years, your taste hasnโt changed"
I shot him a glance, casually saying "If my taste changed quickly, how could I have wasted so many years on you?"
Hearing that, Damonโs face immediately changed. After contemplating for a few seconds, he nodded, "Makes sense, so you should keep at it"
I scoffed, not responding to him. He started looking for a new topic to chat about, "What did Ben say?"
"He didnโt say much." I replied indifferently. Since Damon knew I was there to find Ben, he naturally knew the predicament I was in.
Everything was because I was too incapable, wasted too much time on emotions, and lacked the ability to support my family and company
"Is he still holding a grudge against your parents?" Damon was aware of the history between my mother and Ben. Because I was always honest with him and I told him everything before, even though he didnโt care to listen.
I kept silent, anxiety welling up in my heart again. I thought, "What should I do if Ben really abandons me?"
Under the circumstances at that time, I could have still held on. But once Ariel and Nancy start stirring up trouble, I, a newcomer to the business scene, wouldnโt be able to fend them off.
Among the companyโs shareholders and executives, how many really trust and respect me?
Did I really need to ask Damon for help? I knew he could help me, but he wouldnโt have done it for free.
"Probably I didnโt want to continue that topic: Ben had some unresolved conflicts with my parents in the past."
Damon didnโt press on with his questions, he just shut his eyes again until the car pulled up in front of the hotel.
I planned on grabbing a room at this hotel to crash for a bit, and Damon followed me in
"Sir, we have a romantic aroma coupleโs hot spring waterbed room available tonight, complete with a candlelight dinner on the house. You might want to consider it for you and your girlfriend" The receptionist seemed to have gotten the wrong end of the stick about our relationship and started peddling a couples package to Damon.
