Chapter 883: 402_2

Xiao Shiyao didn’t expect Xu Haoyang to suddenly appear in the coffee shop: "Xu Haoyang, why are you here?" What Xiao Shiyao meant was that she knew Xu Haoyang had class, and it was a major one at that. It was instinctive for her to question why someone who should be in class showed up here instead.

However, when Xu Haoyang heard her, he took it in a completely different way. By the time he turned his head to look at Xiao Shiyao, all the anger on his face had dissipated, and now he was just looking at her with a face full of grievance: "If I don’t show up now, someone else might take me away."

Saying this, Xu Haoyang walked over to Xiao Shiyao, still looking aggrieved.

Xiao Shiyao was both amused and exasperated by what Xu Haoyang said. However, thinking back to Zhao Chen’s recent confession, she suddenly didn’t know what to say.

"Zhao Chen, Yaoyao is my girlfriend now." Xu Haoyang reached out, took Xiao Shiyao’s hand, entwined their fingers tightly, and declared possessively.

"Just being a girlfriend, not a wife." Xu Haoyang’s entwined fingers with Xiao Shiyao were an eyesore for Zhao Chen, who slightly turned his head away, refusing to look.

"You." Xu Haoyang was infuriated by Zhao Chen’s words. He has never seen someone so shameless.

"Brother Zhao Chen, I’m dating Xu Haoyang right now. If nothing unexpected happens, we’ll also walk down the aisle together in the future." Watching Xu Haoyang, whose cheeks puffed up like a small frog in anger, Xiao Shiyao stepped in and said.

Xiao Shiyao’s statement was far more effective than the thousands of words Xu Haoyang could have said.

Her words successfully wiped off all the smiles from Zhao Chen’s face.

If Xu Haoyang’s words could be retorted, Xiao Shiyao’s were like a knife stabbing directly into his heart, leaving him in agony.

But, from Xiao Shiyao’s eyes, he also clearly saw that she didn’t have any special feelings for him.

"Is that so? Then I’m sorry for intruding." Zhao Chen walked out of the coffee shop, appearing utterly dejected.

Seeing Zhao Chen like this, Xiao Shiyao sighed with relief, yet she felt somewhat down. After all, Zhao Chen was her second brother’s good friend. She wondered if her brother would blame her for rejecting his friend Zhao Chen.

Unbeknownst to Xiao Shiyao, the second brother she was concerned about, Xiao Xuyang, was leaning against the wall outside the coffee shop. He was just out of sight for Xiao Shiyao and the others.

As soon as Zhao Chen stepped out of the coffee shop, he saw his good brother, Xiao Xuyang.

"Got rejected?" Xiao Xuyang stood up straight and looked at Zhao Chen with a smile.

"You knew all along." Zhao Chen didn’t tell Xiao Xuyang he was going to find Xiao Shiyao. He feared Xiao Xuyang would stop him because, from the beginning, he didn’t support the idea and never thought there’d be a day when he’d become Xiao Xuyang’s brother-in-law.

"If I didn’t already know, do you think I wouldn’t have stopped you? Knowing you wouldn’t turn back until hitting the wall, if you wanted to experience it firsthand, then I should let you, so you don’t live with regrets." Zhao Chen pursuing Xu Haoyang and his sister Xiao Shiyao, all of it was known to him. He knew his sister well; he knew that only if she rejected Zhao Chen personally would he give up.

That’s why, once he knew, he didn’t stop it.

He only followed in secret so he could intervene if anything happened.

Now, it seems everything was as he expected.

"Come on, let’s have a drink. Tonight, we won’t stop until we’re drunk." Zhao Chen stepped forward, patted Xiao Xuyang’s back, and suggested.

"Alright, I shall accompany you through thick and thin tonight." Xiao Xuyang shook his head; the mess his sister had inadvertently caused still needed him, as her brother, to clean up. What a tough fate.

"Is that really what you said?" Xu Haoyang couldn’t believe he was hearing these words from Xiao Shiyao’s mouth. Where was the anger now? All he felt was joy.

Xiao Shiyao laughed at Xu Haoyang’s coy demeanor: "Whether it’s true or not isn’t important. What matters is your performance. Remember, you’re still on probation, not confirmed yet."

"Yaoyao, don’t worry, I will definitely work hard to pass the probation period and get confirmed as soon as possible." Xu Haoyang was saying this just as the waiter brought over the coffee Xiao Shiyao and Zhao Chen had ordered.

"Excuse me, here is the coffee you ordered earlier."

Xu Haoyang’s eyes lit up when he saw the waiter bring the coffee; he hadn’t expected that Zhao Chen would end up not even having a sip.

"Yaoyao, this is perfect. We haven’t had coffee together yet."

Xiao Shiyao looked at Xu Haoyang’s overjoyed expression, which was close to wagging a tail, and was somewhat speechless. Was it really necessary to be this happy over just having coffee?

However, Xu Haoyang’s good mood was infectious, and Xiao Shiyao’s spirits were lifted as well.

Since Xu Haoyang wanted to have coffee with her, they might as well enjoy it together. After all, the coffee was already ordered.

After both sat down, Xiao Shiyao picked up a spoon and sporadically ate the cake on her plate. Xu Haoyang, sitting across from her, was gazing lovingly at Xiao Shiyao the entire time.

"Aren’t you supposed to be drinking coffee? Just drink it, why are you only looking at me?" Xiao Shiyao felt a little embarrassed being stared at like that by Xu Haoyang.

Xu Haoyang didn’t really want to drink the coffee; he enjoyed simply sitting with Xiao Shiyao, having coffee together.

After being told by Xiao Shiyao, Xu Haoyang obediently took a sip of the coffee. "Delicious." This coffee shop was next to their school, and it was upscale. They often met here for coffee and played card games like Fight the Landlord.

He had never thought the coffee here was anything special before, but today it tasted better than usual.
