The Rebirth Of The Beast Tamer-Chapter 107: The Sovereign’s Veil
The Tide’s Crest camped on the jagged plateau, the rift altar’s runes was dim but it pulsed with ominous energy, casting violet shadows across the scorched stone.
Kelvin knelt by the fire, its flames were sparked by Xerion’s breath, his shoulder and leg wounds throbbed beneath bandages from the riftclaw and shadowdrake battles. The coded tablet’s warning flared up.....
"The Sovereign’s rift opens soon. Lirien prepares. The traitor’s name is hidden"
This burned in his mind, the Veil codex was heavy in his pack, its cryptic symbols was holding answers to the Sovereign and the Sanctum traitor was tied to Zack’s manipulation.
The cloaked figure’s fleeted shadow, its runes glowed before vanishing and it gnawed at him, urging the trio to hunt Cindy and end her schemes.
Xerion, the End-Tyrant, coiled nearby, his twenty-foot serpentine form a cascade of crimson and gold scales, scarred but radiant in the fire’s glow.
The Level 8 Legendary’s amber eyes scanned the shadows, his hiss sharp, sensing Cindy’s dark energy.
Their 82% sync ratio roared like a furnace in Kelvin’s chest, anchoring his focus. He pressed a hand to Xerion’s scales and their heat steadied his trembling fingers.
Lyra sat across the fire, her shadow-etched gauntlet was pulsing with Peaks’ dark runes, gloomstalker spores, labyrinth vine essence, griffon feathers, Fenheart obelisk runes, and riftwraith claws, its glow steady despite her wounds.
Salaris, her shadow-cloaked raptor, perched on a nearby rock, her iridescent feathers were blending with the darkness, her talons was gleaming with lethal precision.
Lyra’s arm and side wounds were bandaged, her face was filled with pain, but her green eyes burned with unspoken strength as she adjusted her bandage.
"Cindy is close," she said, with a sharp voice as her gauntlet flared. "We will stop her and the Sovereign."
Darius leaned against a stone, his soulstone glowed with the Peaks’ soulstream gems, labyrinth runes, griffon feathers, shadow claws, shadowdrake fangs, and altar runes, his chest and flank wounds seeping through bandages, but his eyes gleamed with fierce determination.
Rhoam, his iron-plated panther, sprawled nearby, his massive paws was scratching the ground and his plates were reinforced with Peaks’ ore, bogstalker scales, and riftclaw pincers clinking softly.
"The traitor is helping her," Darius growled, tossing his soulstone with a flick of his wrist. "We will drag them out."
Kelvin nodded, his jaw clenched, the codex’s weight was heavy. "We will decode it and we find the traitor." The monitoring device buzzed, its runes flickering:
"Rift activity detected in Abyssal Caldera. Rogue tamer and Sovereign influence is critical. Engage them immediately." The warning was urgent, the signal’s flicker was hinting at sabotage, a chilling echo of the Fens’ interference.
The trio broke the camp at dawn with their beasts trailing, and they trekked through rocky ravines toward the Abyssal Caldera, a sunken basin of molten rock and steaming vents, its ground were scarred with dark runes pulsing with violet energy.
Kelvin’s wounds throbbed, but Xerion’s warmth steadied him. Lyra’s limp was slight, her gauntlet pulsed as she scanned for Veil energy.
Darius’s stride was faltered, though his wounds were slowing him down, but Rhoam’s steady presence kept him grounded.
"The codex names the Sovereign," Kelvin said, the codex heavy in his pack. "We will end this in the Caldera."
Lyra’s eyes was narrowed and her gauntlet was glowing. "Cindy is not alone. The traitor is covering her." Darius tossed his soulstone, his grin was sharp despite the pain. "We will break them both." He said.
The Caldera’s edge was a treacherous maze of cracked stone with steaming pools, and rune-etched spires, the ground pulsed with dark energy matching Cindy’s from the Hollow and Fens.
Xerion’s scales bristled, his hiss was sharp, sensing her presence. Salaris darted ahead and her feathers blending with the shadows, her talons gleamed as she scouted. Rhoam growled and his plates clinked, a sign that he is ready to charge.
The monitoring device buzzed: "Riftspawn activity detected. Prepare for engagement." The Caldera erupted with a deafening screech.
Riftspawn, spectral, multi-limbed beasts with glowing eyes and razor claws burst from the vents, their forms pulsing with Cindy’s dark runes.
Their psychic screeches hit like a shockwave, conjuring visions of the Sovereign, a cloaked figure with red eyes, whispering: "The Veil will consume you."
"Form up!" Kelvin shouted, Xerion reared and his flames igniting in a blazing arc. He channeled a fire Convergence through the dark gauntlet which was enhanced by ritual runes, griffon feathers, and altar runes, a searing fire lance slicing through a riftspawn’s core.
Lyra wove a shadow cage, her gauntlet trembling as tendrils pinned three riftspawn. Salaris struck from above with her talons rending a core, but a riftspawn’s claw clipped her wing, drawing a screech.
Lyra’s face paled, her sister’s ghost accusing her in the vision. She gritted her teeth, blood dripping from her arm, and tightened her cage. "I won’t break!" she shouted, crushing a riftspawn’s core in a burst of violet light.
Darius fired soulstone blasts, the gem-enhanced green light that was boosted by shadow claws and shadowdrake fangs, exploding across a riftspawn, obliterating its core.
Rhoam charged, his iron bulk crushing another, his plates deflecting a flurry of claws. The visions hit Darius very hard his village burning, the Sovereign’s whisper echoing.
"I’m done running!" he bellowed, his blasts precise despite the blood seeping from his flank, shattering another core. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The riftspawn regenerated, their screeches amplifying the visions. A riftspawn lunged at Kelvin, its claws grazing his chest, drawing blood.
He cursed, channeling a fiery vortex, Xerion’s flames incinerating the beast, its core exploded. Lyra dodged a claw swipe, but a talon raked her side, reopening her wound.
She staggered, crying out, but Salaris’s talons ripped through the riftspawn, saving her. Darius took a hit and a claw stroke his shoulder, his concussion flared, but Rhoam’s charge crushed it and its core bursted.
"We are losing ground!" Darius shouted, his voice was raw and the visions were shaking him. "She is too strong
Kelvin’s mind raced, the Sovereign’s visions is merging with the rift’s pulse You are nothing. "No!" he roared, shaking it off. "Focus on the cores!" He pointed to the glowing cores in the riftspawn’s chests, pulsing with dark energy.
Lyra nodded, weaved a multi-layered shadow cage, pinning four riftspawn. Salaris darted between them and her talons slashed the cores.
Darius fired a radial blast, shattering three cores. Rhoam roared, crushing another, his plates deflecting a claw strike. Kelvin channeled a piercing fire lance, Xerion’s flames surging, obliterating a final core. The riftspawn dissolved and the visions faded.
The trio collapsed, their breaths ragged and their beasts were battered but alive. Kelvin’s chest bled, but he checked on Lyra, her side wound was fresh. She leaned on Salaris. Darius clutched his shoulder while Rhoam’s presence steadied him.
"We will beat her spawn," Kelvin said, the visions gone. Lyra nodded, her gauntlet was dim. "She i in the Caldera’s heart." Darius tossed his soulstone, his grin was weak. "Let’s end her."
They searched the vents and found some loot: riftspawn scales pulsed with power and psychic gems for mental resistance.
"Split it evenly," Kelvin said, dividing the scales, taking extra gems for his staff’s defenses. Their Peaks, Hollow, Fens, and Riftspire loot enhanced their gear, getting them ready for the Caldera.
The monitoring device buzzed: "Cindy’s trail leads to Caldera core. Traps detected. Proceed with caution."They pressed into the Caldera’s heart, a molten crater with a pulsing rift altar, its runes matching Cindy’s.
A trap triggered, rune-etched chains erupted from the ground, glowing with Veil energy. "Move!" Kelvin shouted, Xerion’s flames burning a chain to ash.
Lyra’s shadow net bound another, Salaris slashed its core. Darius’s blast shattered a third, Rhoam crushing the rest. The trap collapsed, but a vision hit the Sovereign’s red eyes, whispering: "The traitor is among you."
They reached the altar, finding Cindy, her robes etched with runes, her eyes blazed. Her riftbeast with a chimeric lion-drake with glowing fangs roared, its core pulsing red.
"You are too late," Darius said, her voice cold. "The Sovereign’s rift opens, and the traitor’s runes shield us." The altar erupted, spawning riftfiends—armored, multi-headed beasts with glowing tails.
"Form up!" Kelvin shouted, Xerion’s fire lance sliced a riftfiend’s core. Lyra’s shadow cage pinned two, Salaris’s talons rending them.
Darius’s radial blast shattered three cores, Rhoam’s charge crushing another. Cindy’s riftbeast dove, its fangs grazed Kelvin’s leg.
He cursed, channeling a fiery vortex, Xerion’s flames searing the beast. Lyra’s cage pinned it, Salaris rending its core. Darius’s blast struck Lirien’s arm, her runes faltering.
"Now!" Kelvin shouted, charging the altar, Xerion’s flames engulfed it. The rift collapsed in a violet surge, the riftfiends dissolved.
Cindy staggered, Lyra’s runes binded her, but the cloaked figure slashed the bindings and vanished with her. "The Sovereign rises!" Cindy spat is gone.
The trio collapsed, their beasts were alive. They found a coded scroll, decoded it with the codex: "The Sovereign is Master Veyra. The traitor is Torin."
Kelvin’s heart sank, the betrayal clear. They collected riftbeast scales and altar gems, splitting them evenly, Darius taking extra gems.
The monitoring device buzzed: "Return to Sanctum. Sovereign active. Traitor confirmed." They camped in the crater, Kelvin’s fire casted shadows.
Lyra bandaged her side, Darius fed Rhoam, and they shared stories. Darius’s rival tamer defeat, Lyra’s sister’s courage, Kelvin’s tale of Xerion’s battles.
A shadow flickered—the cloaked figure, runes glowing, then gone. "They are watching," Kelvin said, ready. "We will face them."
The Tide’s Crest pressed on, battered but unbroken, their unity was a flame against the Veil’s shadow.
