Chapter 102: The Revealed Rouge Tamer 2

Kelvin’s mind raced while Cindy’s runes fueled the wraiths, the rift’s pulse was deafening as the ground split beneath their feet.

The visions showed the Sanctum in ruins with his friends’ lifeless forms scattered everywhere. "No!" he roared, shaking off the images and his staff blazed. "The altar is the key! We will hit it now!"

Lyra nodded, her eyes were fierce despite the pain, weaving a shadow cage that trapped four wraiths and its tendrils were tightened like a vice.

Salaris darted between them, her talons slashed cores with surgical precision, her screeches cutting through the chaos. Darius steadied himself, his grin returned as he unleashed a radial soulstone blast, the gem-enhanced explosion that shattered three wraith cores in a blinding flash.

Rhoam roared, his iron plates deflected a griffon strike and his charge crushed another wraith, its core exploded in a burst of ash.

Kelvin channeled a piercing fire lance, Xerion’s flames surged through the dark gauntlet, the beam lanced toward the altar. It struck, the altar’s runes that is detonated in a shower of sparks, the ground shake violently as cracks were spiderwebbed across the stones.

Cindy screamed, her griffon dove and its talons aimed at Kelvin’s chest. Immediately Xerion coiled, with his tail he whipped the beast aside and flames seared its feathers in a blaze of crimson.

Lyra’s shadow cage snapped shut, pinning the griffon’s wings, and Salaris’s talons rendered its core, the beast collapsed in a burst of red light. Darius’s soulstone blast struck Cindy’s arm, her runes were faltered as blood streamed down her sleeve.

"Now!" Kelvin shouted, charging the altar, his staff blazed with fire runes. He smashed it and Xerion’s flames engulfed the stones in a roaring inferno, the rift collapsed in a blinding surge of violet light that shook the glade.

The wraiths dissolved, their screeches faded away into silence, and the ritual circle’s stones crumbled into ash. Cundy staggered with her arm bleeding and her runes dimming.

Lyra’s shadow runes lashed out, binding her wrists in a coiling net, but Cindy twisted free with a snarl, lunging for the trees. "The Sovereignty will end you!" she spat out, before vanishing into the forest’s shadows.

There was silence everywhere the glade was littered with ash, shattered stones, and scorch marks. The trio collapsed, their breaths ragged and their beasts were battered but alive.

Kelvin’s nose was bleeding and his ribs were filled with pain, but he stumbled to Lyra, checking the wound on her leg which was fresh but shallow.

She leaned on Salaris, her face was ashen but defiant, the raptor’s talons dripped with wraith essence. Darius clutched his flank, with blood soaking his bandages, but Rhoam’s steady presence kept him upright and the panther’s plates gleamed despite the gouges.

"We stopped her ritual," Kelvin said, the visions faded from his mind. Lyra nodded, her gauntlet was dim but steady. "She’s gone, but she will come back." Darius tossed his soulstone, his grin was weak but sharp. "We will be waiting for her."

They searched the glade, scavenging the loot from the wreckage: griffon feathers pulsed with speed while enhancing it’s energy, their tips shimmered with soulstream power; ritual runes glowing with amplification potential, their surfaces etched with Veil patterns; and a Veil codex, its leather cover marked with cryptic symbols that hinted at deeper secrets.

"Split everything evenly," Kelvin said, dividing the feathers and runes among them, handing Darius the codex to decode. The act was a quiet affirmation of their unity, their Peaks loot, dark gauntlet, dark runes, soulstream gems and maze-like structure loot which was proving vital in the battle, their gear is now enhanced for the fights ahead.

The monitoring device buzzed, its message steady for the first time: "Rift sealed. Rogue tamer escaped. Report to Sanctum immediately. New rifts detected elsewhere."

The warning underscored Cindy’s threat, the signal’s clarity was a stark contrast to its earlier flickers, hinting at a deeper conspiracy within the Sanctum’s ranks.

They began their trek back through the Hollow, the glade’s shattered stones were crumbling behind them. Xerion was moving beside Kelvin, his scales were warm, his amber eyes were vigilant as they scanned the trees.

Salaris darted ahead, her talons clicked on the ground, scouting for lingering threats. Rhoam’s plates clinked, his massive form guarded the rear, his gouged shoulder slowed him down but did not stop him.

The trio’s wounds throbbed, Kelvin’s nose and ribs, Lyra’s leg and shoulder, Darius’s side and brow—but their steps were steady and their resolve was unbroken.

They camped in a small clearing, the trees were silent but heavy with menace. Kelvin ignited a fire with Xerion’s breath, the flames casted flickered shadows across the ground.

Lyra bandaged her leg, her shadow runes sealed the wound with a faint glow and her movements were precise despite the pain that etched her face.

Darius tended his flank and tossed a chunk of dried meat to Rhoam, the panther’s plates gleamed as he tore into it with a low growl.

"Cindy played Zack like a puppet," Darius said, staring into the fire, his voice was low but edged with anger. "She used him to dig into our fears."

Lyra’s voice was firm, her gauntlet glowed faintly as she adjusted her bandage. "She twisted my sister’s memory to break me. I will make her answer for it."

Kelvin gripped his staff, Xerion’s warmth pulsed through their bond, steadying his shaking hands. "She mentioned a Sovereign. She is not working alone.

We will hunt them all down." Xerion’s eyes gleamed, his hiss a low affirmation, a promise of battles to come.

They traded stories to bolster their spirits, Darius recalled a sparred match where he outwitted a rival tamer with a clever feint, Lyra speaking of her sister’s unyielding courage in the face of danger, Kelvin recounting a tale of Xerion’s ancient victory against a rogue wyrm that threatened a village.

The stories were a shield against the weight of Cindy’s escape, a reminder of their strength as a team. The monitoring device hummed, its message clear and ominous...

"Veil Sovereign is active. Prepare for future missions. Unity is your strength." The words were a grim warning of the battles ahead, but their resolve burned brighter, a spark that refused to be extinguished.

Dawn broke over the Verdant Hollow, the forest was silent but heavy with threat. As they packed their camp, a shadow flickered among the trees, the cloaked figure with their runes that glowed briefly before they vanished into the undergrowth. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Kelvin’s breath was caught, the sighting of a chilling echo of the labyrinth’s warning. "They are still watching us," he said with his staff raised. "We will be ready for them."
