The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 231: Discovered
Chapter 231: Discovered
Marek gulped watching the scene. He knew nothing of Logi’s Lady, but he knew her pain of loss.
His heart broke for her and even more when he finally realized what life he had led for winters and what awaited him.
He was the Serpent’s heir.
However, seeing this made him question everything in his entire life. It was never about cleaning the realm of criminals, it was a twisted pleasure his master had.
Marek took a step closer, but a blade stopped him.
He gulped, staring at the clean steel and the thin trail of blood from the small cut on his throat.
"I deserve an explanation, don’t I?" Kraven’s gravelly voice captured their attention.
Logi panicked as he shot to his feet. "Kraven!"
"What is this? The makings of a cowardly hobby, and a Serpent."
"He’s not just a Serpent!" Logi yelled.
Kraven slowly moved his gaze to Logi and then Isadora beside him, kneeling on the ground, sobbing.
He redrew his blade and strode toward her, ignoring the rest of them as he crouched in front of her.
"Why are you crying, love?" He placed a hand beneath her chin and gently raised it so that her teary eyes were on him.
"I found Serena," she said faintly.
With narrowed eyes, he faced the display and found Serena’s head.
Isadora broke into another fit of tears, wrapping her arms around Kraven and burying her face in his chest.
"I was too late," she sobbed.
Kraven’s hand reached for her, but he halted his action when his pointy ears twitched.
His teeth clenched as he rose to his feet with Isadora.
"The Serpents are close, they know we’re here," Kraven said, pinning Marek with a destructive look.
Marek shivered. "I-I know nothing of this."
"Charming words coming from a Serpent." His dark weaves came forth, stirring around him, and discerned Marek as the target.
Logi was quick to jump in front of Marek and shield him.
"Logi!" Kraven growled.
"It’s not him! I don’t know how Aric knows we’re here, but it’s not him."
"What now? Befriending a Serpent? Don’t make me laugh!"
"It’s nothing like that!"
"If you won’t get out of the way, a few scratches will do you good; after all, you’ll heal."
His dark weaves pulsed and aimed for the kill.
"Logi!" Marek panicked, sensing the incoming threat, but Logi remained unfazed.
This irritated Kraven further, but before he could give the command, Isadora held his arm and stopped him.
"Please, Marek is not the enemy."
"Are you sure about that, love?" he asked, paying less attention, determined to instill his wrath and teach Logi a lesson.
He was even more furious because this explained Logi’s actions for days. He lied through his teeth and paid less attention to their mission, and now they were on the verge of being discovered.
"It was my fault, I begged Marek to bring me here," Isadora implored.
Suddenly, the eyes of the heads displayed on the walls snapped open, their milky irises swirling wildly.
"Aric’s close!" Marek stated. "I know another way out, let me help."
"Kraven," Isadora said with pleading eyes.
Kraven’s teeth clenched; it wasn’t as easy as they thought. "It’s too late for that." He stepped away from her and strode to the door.
"Logi, you know what to do."
Logi gave a nod in response.
"What is he talking about?" Isadora demanded, sensing something was wrong. "Kraven?"
His silence only increased her fright, her legs moved before she could stop them.
She rushed out of the door, but before she could reach him, Logi held her.
"Why are you stopping me?!" she yelled.
"I’m sorry," Logi said, hauling her away, following Marek to a path he led.
"No! Kraven!"
Kraven walked down the stairs leading to another hall, his eyes catching the company that awaited him.
Aric was present with a large number of Serpents.
"The seven gods bless my eyes. The Reaper graces us with his presence." He mused. "I should’ve known you would come yourself. You’re that insane." freēnovelkiss.com
"How did you find out?" Kraven asked, amused.
Aric smiled. "My dearest disciple hasn’t been himself for a while. I had a reason to believe he was distracted, so I had him followed. To my surprise, he met a ravenite, and they seemed close."
Kraven pinned the tip of his sword on the floor, resting his arms on the crossguard. "I see... who knew a coward had brains?"
Aric’s smile faded. "You can’t imagine how it feels when you find out the person you thought of as a son has been poisoned."
Kraven barked a laugh. "Oh, the poisoning has been done alright, but not by me. What is it, Aric? Afraid that your disciple will see you for what you really are? A fraud hiding under a disguise as he licks the feet of a puppeteer."
"I’ll find the other ravenite, and when I do, I’ll add them to my collections. "
Kraven chuckled, unpinning his sword and wielding it effortlessly. "I would like to see you try."
In the blink of an eye, the Serpents attacked like sheep, and Kraven cut them down one by one. Smiling through it all as the blood smeared the walls, floor, and bodies upon bodies dropped like a plague.
"You truly are Daudi’s Reaper," Aric remarked.
Kraven grinned widely, face covered in blood as well as his silver-shaded hair, his eyes had an eerie glow, not an ounce of his aura was sensed, and all massacre was done purely on his raw strength.
"You’re not pissing your pants," Kraven remarked. "It doesn’t matter, I want to rip out your spine from your back," he growled, painting the image of Isadora crying in his arms.
Aric took someone special from her and caused her pain.
"I’ll devour every single one of those cowardly existences of yours, but I’ll leave your head. I’ll pin it at the top of your precious tower for the world to see!" He seethed like a beast, on the verge of going on a rampage.
But suddenly, about ten Serpents surrounded him. Kraven’s grip tightened on his blade, about swinging it, but his action eased when something coiled around arms, legs, and neck, restricting his movement.
"Shall I introduce you to something I’ve carefully cultivated for winters?"
A pain, unlike anything Kraven had ever known, burned his skin, blinding and brutal. A monstrous roar tore from his throat, echoing through the air.
