The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 195: The Spy
Chapter 195: The Spy
Discerning the suffocating tension in the air, driven by the feeling of death. Isadora acted quickly before things got out of control.
"Are you done with the old tunnel?" she asked, burying her shame to focus on the matter at hand.
"Yes," Logi answered. "But I’ve got good news and bad news." He spared a look at Kraven, who was mere seconds away from impaling him.
"The good news is... I altered the old tunnel to take us straight to Brookcrest."
"And the bad news?" Isadora asked, knowing the worst was out of the way, but something told her this bad news had nothing to do with being lost.
Logi flicked something into the air and caught it, opening his palm to reveal a nail with a rune engraved on it.
He lingered like he was trying to digest everything he found out within hours.
"I went back to the tunnel we came through and found this." A scornful chuckle breaking from him. "This does not belong to me, and the rune engraved on it is a fake."
Isadora blinked. "A fake?"
"A fake to make my tunnel a warp." He pocketed the nail. "Someone switched my nails. Someone wanted us to go through a warp dimension. It was a trap."
"I wonder which enemies of yours set this trap," Kraven said, rising to his full height and adjusting his bracers.
Logi scowled. "I don’t have enemies. Besides, my tunnel leads back to the mountain, which means whoever did this is a ravenite."
At his declaration, Isadora’s blood ran cold. ’A ravenite?’ she thought with shaky eyes.
This didn’t feel right because she had witnessed the loyalty of the ravenites toward their Lord Raven.
However, Logi’s next words set in a more significant complication in action. "I think a spy from the Five Court survived the Hunt."

They made their way to the old tunnel, venturing into it. Unlike the Faemade tunnels, torches already lined the walls, offering light to the place.
Isadora stayed close to Kraven as they strode the wide area; it was larger, appearing more like an underground route.
"Aren’t you worried?" Isadora asked, bringing up the topic since these two Fae had no intention of talking about it.
If there was a spy in the Raven Court, shouldn’t it be an issue?
"About what?"
"The spy."
Kraven chuckled. "Ekko will discover this weed if the person slips. They don’t last long in the Raven Court."
’That’s why he isn’t too bothered about it,’ Isadora thought, but that didn’t shift the concern out of her.
How on earth was Logi’s craft spoiled if he was careful?
She knew Logi can be too cocky when it came to his craft but she knew him enough to tell that whoever did this was not just a random spy.
The person had to be someone close.
Was their target Kraven? Or just all three of them? Who never wanted this mission in the first place?
’Nyssa?’
It was a heinous accusation. Nyssa might dislike her, but she was loyal to Kraven. She wouldn’t dare, right?
"I know what you’re thinking, love." Kraven’s words pulled her out of her thoughts.
She faced him and noticed he wasn’t as amused as he had been earlier.
"A simple spy who could interfere with Logi’s work is a threat."
"But you’re not worried about this threat..."
"It’s all timing, love. Most likely the target is me... sooner or later I’ll cross paths with the weed and uproot it."
"You sound confident."
"That’s the thing about these spies, love. In the end, their one goal is to kill their targets." He faced her with a smug grin.
Something told Isadora that Kraven was more entertained by this than angry that they were lured into a warp tunnel to die.
Logi, on the other hand, didn’t look thrilled. He wasn’t his usual self, he looked more mentally consumed and annoyed.
Isadora figured it was only natural because someone had dared mess with him.
’Who was the fucking weed that tampered with my tunnel?’ Logi thought as rage curled deeply into his skin.
He swore to the seven gods that if he got his hands on that person, they’d have hell to pay.

They stopped to rest after walking for hours. Mostly because of Isadora’s discomfort. She didn’t want to delay their time but after walking for so long the strain got to her.
She began breaking a sweat and taking ragged breaths. Her body had healed but it was still reminded of the toll.
Kraven was the first to sense this and told Logi they should make a stop.
It was only natural to do so, after defeating the Hollows, they haven’t had any break.
Logi was happy to oblige, needing the rest. He started a fire at the center of the spot they chose to rest. After setting it up, he walked to a corner to sleep.
Isadora dropped her bag, searching for a blanket.
"I have room here."
At the sound of his voice, she shifted her gaze to Kraven, seated and leaning against a large boulder with his cloak open as an invitation.
Isadora rose to her full height, but she made no effort to walk toward him, certainly not because she didn’t want to.
She was just being discreet, it was a natural habit she had now, especially toward Kraven.
She always had to read his aura before engaging.
Kraven raised a dagger in his grip. "Don’t worry, I’ve got reassurance."
"I’ve my dagger," Isadora replied.
"I know... mine makes it easier, doesn’t it? Besides, the thirst is scratching the surface, but I have a few hours to spare."
"Don’t try anything funny..." she said before warmth flushed her cheeks. "M-My body can’t take it."
He chuckled. "Trust me, it’s no fun when you can’t scream my name properly. I’ll be good."
Isadora snapped her gaze to Logi, who was already snoring through his sleep.
She walked to Kraven and sat beside him. He instantly covered her with his cloak to pull her more into him.
Isadora swiftly took his dagger from his grip, holding onto it so that he didn’t have ideas... like cutting himself.
