The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 189: You Were Never Wrong To Judge
Chapter 189: You Were Never Wrong To Judge
Isadora’s breathing hitched at Logi’s words. This explained Kraven’s actions—why he killed them.
They were Hollows in Fae’s skin.
She knew that moment the headless boy stood on its own two feet—they were not Fae, and Logi’s words confirmed it too.
The anger in his eyes wasn’t just because of her outburst anymore; it was far more profound than that. She swallowed hard as guilt sank upon her.
In silence, she reached for her dagger and sheathed it back into the holster banded around her waist.
"We’re very deep in the ground," Logi said with his chin up, squinting his eyes to catch a glimpse of light.
"It’s going to be difficult, but I can make it work, so..." He paused, noticing how Isadora was distracted, staring into space rather than paying attention.
"Are you alright?" he asked with narrowed eyes.
"When I found Kraven in the shed..." Isadora found her voice, the regret seizing her harder. "He decapitated a boy..."
Logi was confused at first, but then the realization struck him. It was very easy to read into her mood and what weighed her mind.
"Mmm... my guess is you thought he killed him because of his thirst."
"And I was wrong to do that, I judged him so quickly, and I—"
"It’s not your fault, Isadora... you did what anyone would have done in your shoes." He reasoned. "I mean, look, we have been in this village for two days and couldn’t tell they were warp creatures."
At her silence, he sighed, dusting the dirt from his palm. "Honestly... Hollows or not, it doesn’t stop from giving in to the thirst."
Isadora snapped her gaze back to him, licking her dry lips. "Is this where you remind me how much of a monster he is..."
Logi chuckled. "I think I don’t need to anymore..."
She opened her mouth to speak, but he interrupted her.
"A madman like Kraven has morals, solely because he’s aware of what he is. I remember talking about this once. He told me how more entertaining it was to kill his enemies than a random person. To me, that counts as morals."
"I shouldn’t have judged him..." she said as if trying to remind herself about her guilt.
"Don’t beat yourself too much about it..." Logi said, sitting on the ground and crossing his legs. "When you see him, talk about it, it’s what lovers do."
Isadora blushed at his words. ’Lovers?’ she thought nervously.
However, recalling the steamy night she had with him, it wasn’t far-fetched. It was just reality slipping in.
She cleared her throat before asking. "What are you doing?"
"Gathering more aura from the earth, that move I pulled earlier drained me. I need my strength if we’re going to get out of here."
"Kraven is out there alone."
Logi huffed, closing his eyes. "Kraven can hold his own."
Isadora gave a stiff nod. She trusted Kraven’s strength enough to know that he would be okay.
If anything, she should be more worried about Solin, who declared he was going to take care of Kraven so that they could have a happy ending.
Isadora leaned against the wall and folded her arms.
"The silence is loud," Logi said, his eyes still closed. "I can hear your inside voice."
Isadora tensed at his words. "I-I didn’t say anything."
He shook his head slowly. "You don’t need to..."
Isadora’s lips formed a line. She knew how perspective Logi could be, but it was still astonishing for him to tell that something still bothered her.
Or was she just too transparent? Even Vanya mentioned it. It could be.
"Are you still troubled because you doubted him?"
"To be honest, there’s a lot on my mind..."
"It’s a good thing I’ve spare time."
She released a sharp exhale before saying. "Last night was..." she began, choosing her words carefully. "He said so many words to me. About his devotion... it felt unreal and I thought he was suddenly a different person because he showed a side I’ve never seen before. But seeing him covered in blood and—"
"It makes you wonder... doesn’t it?" Logi interrupted.
"It does... even though that was a Hollow, I’m not sure what I would do when I see him kill the innocent."
"Then take control..."
"What?" She lifted her gaze and found Logi’s eyes open. freewёbnoνel.com
"You have his heart, beating or not, black or white, mad or sane. It’s all in your hands, Isadora."
’Take control?’ she thought nervously. Can she do that? Kraven was a difficult person. Would he ever listen to her or adhere to her wishes?
However, brooding over it, she couldn’t help but think that there might be a possibility. But doubt still burned through her.
"What if I can’t handle it?"
Logi grinned. "You’re Isadora, the mannfae who defied all odds, I believe you can do anything."
Isadora’s heart skipped a beat at his words. The way he looked at her with such pride in his eyes spoke volumes.
Knowing there was someone who believed in her brought warmth to her chest, and coming from someone like Logi was startling.
Isadora couldn’t help the smile curling on her lips. Who would have thought that the very genius Fae who wished for death listened and believed in her?
It gave her hope that people could be better. She had hope for Kraven, too.
Mad or sane, she wanted to share his burden and understand him better. She knew it would be challenging due to how defensive he was... but she was willing to take that chance.
"I think I’ve enough aura to get us out. Praise the seven gods." Logi rose to his feet.
But then a thought crossed him, he faced Isadora with narrowed eyes. "What were you doing in the inn in the first place if you went out to find Kraven?"
"H-He told me to find you..."
"Ah, that explains it. I messed up enough for him to know I might be in trouble."
"What do you mean?"
"He sent you to me to save my life."
Warmth found Isadora’s chest. It was these hidden meanings that went against his nature as a madman that piqued her desire to unravel this dark fae.
