The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 187: Does A Madman Need A Reason To Kill?
Chapter 187: Does A Madman Need A Reason To Kill?
Isadora’s eyes searched for any explanation, but all she could see was bloodlust and rage, not the spark of the man who touched her like she brought the sunlight to him.
He was like a completely different person.
Has his thirst won? Has his control slipped? Then why is she still alive? Why did he do such a thing?
The question swirled in Isadora’s head endlessly, she wanted to understand. But the image of that headless boy was too much to ignore
"You killed them," she said with trembling lips. "I know your burden, but you killed them! Why?!"
Kraven frowned. "Does a madman need a reason to kill?"
"What?"
"You seem to have forgotten, Isadora, just what I am... Don’t look at me as if I’ve stepped down a path you never knew."
’How dare he?’ she thought. Was it wrong of her to have thought differently?
Kraven’s grip tightened until it felt like he would break her neck if he pressed harder, almost like he wanted to.
"Blood is my hunger..." he said to her face. "Having expectations of me will only break your heart."
"I never did," she said sternly. But perhaps a fragment of her did, but staring at the madness in his eyes, she knew she shouldn’t have.
It was a lost cause.
"Then why are you looking at me like I ruined the image you’ve of me?"
"Because you did."
He broke it before it manifested.
"Why?" He grinned. "Because I treat you differently? Make no mistake, love. To the rest of the world, I’m cataclysmic, but to you? I yield."
Suddenly, the sharp, sickening crack of bones snapping echoed through the air, alerting them.
Kraven cursed in Faetong, turning to the shed.
Isadora’s eyes almost bulged out of their sockets at the scene unfolding.
The dead boy’s body was moving.
It convulsed unnaturally, limbs twitching and twisting as if trying to force themselves back in place in violent movements.
Isadora’s body jerked in alert the moment the snaps stopped. Then, like the slow descent of a nightmare, the headless body rose to its full height.
Isadora was too taken over by shock, she didn’t know when she uttered a question. "W-What is that?"
"A problem," Kraven replied, hating this even more.
Another sound came behind, the other man snapped back together after being crushed into bits.
Isadora’s mind tried to process this, but the more she thought about it, the more she couldn’t make sense of anything.
Does this mean Kraven did not kill them? Then what did he kill?
"Find, Logi."
Kraven’s sudden words pulled her focus.
"Now..." he growled, impatient.
There was no use arguing with him. Isadora turned on her heels and hurried back to the inn.
Her heart throbbed rapidly against her chest, on the verge of hopping out.
Whatever was happening was unexplainable, and whatever reasons Kraven had for telling her to leave were concrete.
Isadora scurried through the doors making her way to the stairs, she was just halfway through them when she caught something coming toward her in speed.
Isadora responded quickly by using her dagger to cut through the threat. She didn’t think twice because the aura of death swelled, whatever that was wanted to kill her in an instant.
Blood dripped to the floor, her eyes following the trail to a back facing her. The person rose to full height and turned.
"Solin?"
"Ah... Isadora, it’s nice to see you." He mused as if he hadn’t just tried to kill her a few seconds ago.
She gulped, seeing his hand she had severed, the blood gushed out, but he stood there unaffected.
"I hoped it wouldn’t have led to this..." He sighed, like he was burdened by his own choice, but then a deep frown took over, the rage in his gray eyes blooming. "But your husband had to ruin it."
"What are you talking about?"
Solin barked a laugh. "Logi was definitely the smartest among you, after all, he was able to figure it out first. Too bad."
"Where is Logi?!" Isadora demanded, her words slicing through the air.
"Relax, Isadora..." he mused. "Look around you.... tonight should have been perfect!" he seethed. "You would have lived here with your husband and brother, peacefully. I offered what no one would have." freёwebnoѵel.com
"I was a fool to think this place was different... for the first time in my entire life, I thought I could live in a place where I wasn’t shunned for what I am, a place without the blood and chaos." She chuckled scornfully at the idea. "But I was wrong, this place’s a haunted dream. Is it even real?"
"No... no... no! You weren’t wrong," he said with a passionate glint in his eyes, begging her to still believe.
"Mossvale was your happy ending. You would have been happy." He sighed once again, shaking his head. "I would have been by your side too, you know?"
Isadora narrowed her eyes at his words. It did nothing but mold repulsion into her body.
"That husband of yours..." His teeth clenched hard. "Does not deserve you."
Isadora sneered at his heinous statement. "And you do?"
"Yes." He shrugged, shifting his eyes to his bleeding wound. "You were the ones who entered my territory in the first place... is it wrong to want something in return?"
Suddenly, the floor underneath Isadora burst, shards of wood flying in all directions as an unseen force pulled her below.
She reacted immediately, seizing the edge with all her strength, but it screeched in protest, the wood sapping under her weight.
Solin’s looming footsteps echoed through the air, his boots stopping just where Isadora’s hands were, clutching with all her might.
"Stay there and be quiet, while I deal with your husband." A smile crept on his lips. "I like you, Isadora, and want you to have your happy ending. With me."
"Solin!" Isadora panicked.
"Don’t worry, I’ll make it perfect for us. Mossvale is your new home now."
The wood she held onto cracked and split, and a scream tore from her lips as she fell into the abyss.
