Chapter 169: Finish What You Started

Kraven barely flinched as the snow splattered across his cheek and dripped from his lashes.

Isadora gasped, realizing what she had just done. ’Dear Alda!’

Kraven blinked, as if his mind was trying to comprehend what just happened. He spat some bits of snow from his mouth, grimacing at the cold taste.

Isadora gulped as Kraven pinned her with a dark look, her heart spiking. ’Oh no!’

But then a slow grin tugged on his lips. "You shouldn’t have done that, love."

Isadora barely had time to turn and run. She heard the crunch of snow and a shift in the air—then he was on her.

It happened so fast that only a yelp escaped from her, the cold seeping through her clothes as her back hit the ground.

When she tried to move, her wrist was pinned above her head, his weight keeping her trapped beneath him.

Kraven leaned in, his warm breath brushing against her cheeks. "The audacity of you to run after pulling off something like that. Always finish what you started, love."

"Get off me!" Isadora yelled, squirming beneath.

But this only amused Kraven more, watching her futile attempts to break free. "I love this look, helpless, and entertaining," he drawled. "Keep moving like a trapped little bunny."

A rush of frustration shot through Isadora as she acted in fast reflex, hooking her legs around his waist and pulling him down.

Kraven groaned, feeling the constriction in his pants get suffocating, especially when he felt more of her body heat.

If his little bunny was leading him on toward something far more entertaining, he was happy to oblige.

However, Isadora used that momentary distraction to slip off his hold and roll away from beneath him. She was already reaching for another handful of snow, but...

A hit came.

The cold burst of snow exploding against her side caused a surprise gasp to escape her.

Kraven was already up on his feet, smirking as he tossed a ball of snow up and down his palm.

"That wasn’t fair, love." He referred to her earlier action of locking him in, now he had to worry about a very uncomfortable erection.

Isadora couldn’t help a smirk curling on her lips, her eyes briefly lowering to the wrath she had installed in his pants. "Does it hurt?" she taunted.

Kraven opened his mouth to speak, but she had launched another handful of snow at him, and he dodged by moving his head to the side a little.

Just like that, the fight was on!

They chased each other through the snow, throwing, dodging, slipping, and tumbling multiple times.

Kraven’s laughter rang through the air every time she missed. He had the upper hand more than she did.

Isadora’s frustration grew as she kept hurling snowballs at him with the strong determination to wipe that amusement off his handsome face.

But she had let her guard down as she had solely focused on gaining a hit. He caught her again. This time, he spun her and yanked her back against his chest.

Isadora’s breath was ragged and unstable from the chase; she struggled against his hold, but he wouldn’t let up, keeping her caged in his arms right where he wanted her.

Kraven pressed his lips to the curve of her ear and said. "Done throwing all your anger at me?"

Isadora’s heart skipped a beat. What had started as a heated conversation easily turned into a snow fight.

She was unable to wrap her head around it, but for some reason, the mood hanging over her was lifted.

The weight in her chest suddenly lightened—maybe because she had run around too long, focusing on trying to hit Kraven.

She felt better.

However, Kraven taunted her further, fouling her mood again. "I’m disappointed if that is all you have, easily defeated."

Isadora elbowed him to the side with a driving force, slipping from his hold, lowering as she piled snow and twirling it into the air as a distraction.

"Very good!" he praised. "But that won’t keep me away, love."

Just when she scooped up a ball of snow to throw at him, another came and hit her on the side of the head.

Isadora gasped and turned in shock.

"Oh, Alda!" Logi exclaimed. "I was aiming for Kraven," he explained. "It was a shitty throw, believe me!"

Logi had barely enough time to register as two snowballs came for his head. He dashed for it but slipped and tumbled to the ground, cursing the seven gods, as he went down.

Isadora burst into a wild laugh. The sound was unexpected.

This was all so ridiculous! Here she was in the middle of nowhere, caught between a madman and a genius who couldn’t dodge right and ended up on his butt.

"Did you see that?" Isadora mused, turning to Kraven and stilled. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

The look he had in his eyes was one she had never seen before.

"What?" she asked, suddenly nervous.

Kraven said nothing, simply keeping his absorbed gaze on her. The sound he had heard earlier played repeatedly, until it was all he could hear.

The coming snow splattered on the side of his head. He growled and darted his gaze back to Logi, who was fully charged.

"I’ll not go down by the likes of both of you!" he yelled. "Hit me with your best shot!"

"How about I threw my blade right into your fucking skull!"

Another struck again, but not from Logi but Isadora.

Isadora giggled, and that sound was all it took to intensify the situation, snowballs flying through the air in all directions.

It was too much to contain the excitement coursing through her blood. This became even more ridiculous.

But strangely... it felt good.

Logi landed shots at Kraven, only to instantly regret it when Kraven directed his entire focus on him.

"You must have a death wish."

Logi paled. "Wait, wait—"

But it was too late, Kraven had already tackled him to the ground, sending them both crashing into the snow.

Isadora laughed so hard her stomach hurt. She clenched it and tried to control the amusement wreaking her to the bone.

She barely had time to catch her breath before she saw a coming snow from the corner of her eye.

The solid ball smacked right into her shoulder. Isadora gasped in surprise and turned sharply to Kraven. When did he get there?

"Keep making such sounds, love. Then I’m tempted to keep this going."
