The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 144: The Whisperer’s Reckoning
Chapter 144: The Whisperer’s Reckoning
Nyssa shut the door behind her and turned the lock, she walked to the table to drop her whip, exhausted from the day’s activities.
But upon catching a seated figure in the corner of her eye, she responded with a sharp crack of her whip.
Kraven caught the black coil in a swift move causing the handle to slip out of Nyssa’s grasp.
She gasped upon seeing him. "F-Forgive me, I didn’t know it was you."
"Are you tense, Nyssara?" he asked, tossing the whip to a corner.
Nyssa’s eyes followed it before dragging her gaze back to Kraven. A smile pressed on her lips. "It’s rare to see you here, in my humble home."
"According to you... I make it a habit of coming here when I get bored."
Her smile slowly faded at his words.
"Do you know what I do when I’m bored?"
"Kraven..." she began.
"Let me speak," he snapped.
Nyssa backed away when Kraven rose and stalked toward her with the grace of a predator marking its next kill.
"I torture our prisoners, those Court spies nuisance until there’s nothing left to break. If that doesn’t sate my boredom, do you know what else I do?"
Nyssa flinched when her butt met the edge of the table but that didn’t stop Kraven.
"Tell me what else I do, Nyssara, you’re the expert."
"Kraven..."
"Do I fuck you?" He grabbed her jaw in a bruising hold. "Do I go back to the old flame?"
"I didn’t mean to—"
"You’re a Whisperer, a perfect talent to manipulate and read people," he said. "My weapon meant to be used against my enemies, and yet you dared use it against Isadora."
Nyssa opened her mouth but she couldn’t speak, her body shook beyond control, because at this instant she could feel his thirst ready to eat her alive.
"Tell me... did it burn to see how much I worshiped her body? How much I couldn’t get enough?"
How could he say this to her face? They have been together for winters and yet he spoke of another woman. She hated it.
Kraven chuckled. "Are you angry, Nyssara? Because I chose her and not you?"
"She’s useless, she may be your mate but she’s useless!" She seethed to his face. "Can she do the needful when the time comes? No... because she’s weak and will end up like your mother!"
It happened in the blink of an eye, before Nyssa could register anything, she was already on the verge of blacking out. His hand clenched tightly around her neck, cutting off all airflow.
Her eyes turned bloodshot, drool slipping from the corner of her lips as her nails clawed desperately at his hand—yet he didn’t budge. He didn’t stop.
Kraven just watched, eerily calm and unfazed, as Nyssa struggled for her life under his gaze.
Nyssa’s struggles ceased, her hands falling to her sides. Tears leaked from her eyes as she watched the Fae who captured her heart drain the life out of her.
"You’re still useful to the glorious purpose. You made a promise to me, remember?" Kraven mused. "Your life and loyalty." He released her and she dropped to the ground coughing as she held her throat.
"Don’t break your promise, Nyssa, you’re a great asset to me."
’An asset?’ she thought as the tears streamed down her cheeks.
Was that only what he ever thought of her? She knew Kraven wasn’t conditioned to feel things but it still hurts.
Because all this time she thought she amounted to something. She thought she was making a place in his black heart already.
Kraven crouched, grabbing the back of her hair and forcing her to meet his eyes. Nyssa stiffened at the look they held. Her soul felt like it would leap out of her body at the mere sight of them.
"If you ever try to poison her mind again, I’ll make sure you choke on your tongue right after I cut it off." Kraven pressed his blade against her cheek.
Feeling the cold steel, Nyssa’s body tensed, but she didn’t dare to move away.
"And I won’t stop there... my dearest Nyssara." He grinned broadly as the mere thought delighted him, he moved the blade on her cheek using it to rub her skin in a motion like he was trying to analyze how his blade would do the job.
"I’ll carve your lies into your pretty face, every single one you say to her..." He raised his eyes back to her, a glint shone in them. "Daudi would be pleased to see such a masterpiece."
"You’re special to me, Nyssara." He leaned to her ear. "Special ones always have a place in my heart."
His words were empty and it only broke her heart more.
Kraven released her like she was something he was done with, rose to his feet, and vanished—leaving behind traces of dark weaves.
Nyssa’s fist clenched hard, the nails digging into her skin and almost drawing blood.
This was all Isadora’s fault!
Kraven was never like this to her, he respected her. This wouldn’t have happened if Isadora never happened!

Nyssa stood in front of a door, exhaling a sharp breath, she pounded her fist against it.
It took a minute until it opened and revealed Dain.
Dain’s body stilled at the visitor—a surprising one at this late hour. "Commandress, what are you—"
Dain was cut off before he could finish as Nyssa backed him into the house, the door slamming shut behind her.
He dropped to the chair and Nyssa sat on his lap, leaning more into him.
Dain’s cheeks tainted at the action as his heartbeat speeded but then his olive eyes caught the hand imprint on her neck.
He was about asking what happened but she grabbed his jaw to shut his mouth.
"There’s still hope," she said desperately. "He can still be mine."
Dain gulped, forcing his mouth to move as he asked. "What happened?"
"Isadora" she voiced that one name and it was all it took to understand.
Dain’s frown deepened. "Are you finally ready to do the needful?"
Nyssa chuckled, the sound dark and twisted. "Sweetheart, I’m about to use you for my revenge, will you be a good boy for me?"
Dain was the only one who could make this work, she could no longer interfere personally after Kraven’s threat. She needed the perfect scapegoat.
"I promise you, there’ll be a reward." Her other hand pressed down on his bulge causing a groan to escape him.
An offer like this was gods sent for Dain, he had always had his eye out for the beautiful Raven-maiden, a strong warrior envied and both loved in the Court.
The gods favor him.
"Use me all you want... as long as that mannfae is out of the picture, you’re just the bonus."
Nyssa raised an eyebrow not expecting him to agree to this quickly.
"I think we’ll get along just fine," she said before crashing her lips against his.
