The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 69: Speculations - II
This was not right. I was yet to meet Tristan’s family also not been enough time to pass for me to check up on the boy."Is it very urgent, to be done immediately?" I asked, because if there was even a slight chance for me to be able to stay here for a moment longer or to I wanted to take it.
The soldier shook his head. "I am afraid not so my lady. The Princess asked for your presence is immediate."
God, no.
I nodded. "Give us a few moments," he opened his mouth but I am intervened immediately. "I said, I will be there. I need to check on the boy first."
The reluctance and agitation were clear all the soldier’s face and he did not want to leave me alone but he had no choice in this.
So he nodded and closed the door.
"Now what?" Merilyn immediately steps towards me having an expression of panic on her face.
I bit my lip and looked around. There had to be something that could help me convey what was I going to do about it, I have to talk to the family members.
That when my eyes fell on the table. I breathed a sigh of relief and immediately walked to it. "I am going to write a letter and I want you to give it to the person named Lara."
"Lara?" The healer softly repeated the name as a few the person herself. "Chiara’s daughter, Lara?"
"Yes, yes," I heard Marilyn whisper to her quickly as she agreed to her and I continued to write quickly.
My handwriting was still recognisable but if my governess so it she would smack my hands and make the write it all over again.
"Here," I rolled it and stamped it shut so that if she opened it Lara or her father would know about it. "Take it."
"What is it?" She looks at me suspiciously and then at me. I had no time for that which is why did not bother to explain much.
"They need help." I gave her that. "I know people that can help them with this problem which is why I wrote it down since I cannot meet them."
"Oh, alright." She took it and I rushed out ignoring her calls and Merilyn followed.
The carriage door was opened for me and I climbed in. Once again, we went on the prince’s call.
"What could it be?" Merilyn whispered.
"To be honest," I sighed. "If I knew I would have to do that earlier." She went mum after that. I was nervous too and since she had been with me since but she knew better than to just talk.
I gulped and closed my eyes as I breathed to calm myself. The most important task to be completed a stop to the resistance family and make sure that they understood the plan well because to carry it out we had to face numerous entrances and exerted by the guards heavily.
We had failed.
I felt warmth cover my hand and I smiled, opening my and looking out. I uncovered it and held it in mine.
Merylin, my most constant companion.
When the carriage stopped and my door was opened I had expected to come face to face with the palace entrance as the prince was supposed to meet me there or so I thought the moment I got down I was met with the sight of a huge church.
"A church?" I frowned. "Why did he call me a church?" I asked the man who stood next to me.
He shook his head no. "I’m afraid I do not know." He answered and continued, "His Highness is already inside. He is meeting with the pastor in his room."
He led the way and I followed. The temple inside was beautiful and I was immediately mesmerised by it. The church in my country had been my sanctuary because that was where my mother had been married, I had been baptised and where my mother’s funeral was held. That church was my home which is why I will always prefer red but that did not hold me back as I praised this one in my mind.
"There you are," he said as soon as I stepped into the room. I narrowed my eyes slightly as he came towards me with his hand held out. What was he doing? What was he up to?
His hand was stretched out in front of me as he was watching me contemplate if I wanted to take it or not. I watched it as well and the room was blanketed in silence as they watched the whole exchange for stop The Prince had held out his hand in front of me and if I rejected it I was pretty much rejecting the prince which was not going to be good for anyone.
I smiled stiffly and took it. He misled back and guided me to where he stood before.
"We found something that could prove my speculations to be true." He informed me but did not bother to drop my hand. He shuffled around with the manuscripts and documents with one hand only.
"Here," he presented me with it. "Look at it."
I did and blinked twice. "What is that!" I could not control my shock as a look that it. It was a horrifying figure drawn on a piece of paper and I was sure that it was going to be my nightmare for ages. "Oh my . . ." My eyes refused to leave the site even though it was horrifying. I could not even make it out.
A dark creature, all black one could say, it was and that was all I could make about it. As much as I try to figure out what was sticking out from where it appears that he had something on his head and behind his arms but I was not sure it was all blurry.
"What," I whispered again and turns to look at the prince, "Is it?"
He was looking at me intently and then blast down at the paper before looking at me again. "I was trying to find something in the library but we had not come up with anything yet and on the other hand the church told us about a book where demons and their presence was written in."
"This. . .is a demon?" I whispered out the words as if saying it out loud would summon it. I gulped my feelings down but it did not in any way lessen the burden of emotions that I felt. I was looking at a demon and dash was not something I could follow you down easily and continue to live the rest of my life with.
By now the only thing I was holding onto was my faith in God.
He nodded. "Something straight from hell, one could say."
I looked back at it.
"But my child," the father chided in, "Faith is greater than anything and most of our population is baptised which makes it easy for us to find any entity like this."
"Then what is the problem?"
"We don’t believe that there is any kind of entity here. Even though it has been written here, that when we exceed the limitations that have provided us with we shall face the consequences I would never believe that God would put us to something so brutal." He sighed. "Which is why I believe that this is not an active God but of the devil."
"Demon and devils." I recited. Well, nothing could make my day more than this, I guess. "What more than you tell?"
"Apart from the fact that is not demons but something in between them, nothing more I’m afraid." He smiled. "If God had with this then there would be a limit we would cross but I don’t see it which is why I think that the speculation of the creatures of the night is most suitable here."
I turned to the prince immediately in frustration. "Creatures of the night? Well, that means that all this time spent with finding out if it was the demons or just creatures of the night was just a waste!"
Her lips thinned into a grim smile as well. "I am trying and I must tell us that before reaching the destination we quite a few dead ends."
I shook my head, "Not quite a few, the only place we have reached by now are dead ends."
He left my hand and walked to the pastor. "Thank you for your help after. I truly appreciate that you took time out of your daily work and helped us."
"Bless you, my child."
His eyes found mine again. "Ready to go?" He asked and held out his hand once again to which I scoffed as the father along with the pastor had left the room.
"Do you seriously think there I would excuse the fact that you held my hand in front of the entire room of priests who would probably be at my wedding!" I hissed and his eyes blazed.
"Should I make sure that there is no wedding?"
