The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 48: The inn - II
The hour of breakfast arrived quickly and so did The merchant. As soon as he entered the establishment his eyes looked for Marilyn but found mine instead. They widened in shock when they see me and he made his way towards me without waiting.
"My lady," his concerned eyes melted my heart and he raised his hands, which I immediately placed mine into, "when your guardian sent for us yesterday I was afraid of the fact that you were abducted but now that I see you, here I am relieved. Are you alright?" He looked at me and somehow I knew that it was not a case of pervasiveness but concern. He was looking to see if I was harm physically or not.
"I am fine, sir," I nodded with a small smile, "Thank you." His concern felt good. His words felt even better.
He nodded her there was concern in his eyes, "Yes bu—"
"Tristan," the Prince addressed him making me look over to him. Immediately notice the remoteness of expression on his face as if he knew that he was superior and Tristan was no one in front of him. "That is your name, do I stand correct?"
"Yes," Tristan mastered him respectfully. "And you ar—"
"Does not matter," the prince waved him and I was astonished by the amount of impoliteness that he showed at the first meeting. "Come and have a seat with us we have lots to discuss."
Tristan, once again, respectfully so, nodded and did as told. If the Prince was Marilyn I would surely have done much more than a smack.
We all had sat down at the table of four. Gemma had left already and I did not ask how to say anymore as there was no reason for her to do. But she was on the list of my concerns, as now I was trying to figure out what was the prince up to.
"The lady here tells me that you have her evidence gathered about the abductions all by yourself." He said but it is not sound like praise but much more than like suspicion.
Nevertheless, I, cast a respectful glance at Tristan the huge smile telling him that I was proud of his achievement.
"I have," he answered honestly, "You see, sir after my cousin was abducted I could not help but make sure that this could happen to no one else because of which I have to make sure that if a pattern existed or not which it does."
"A pattern?" The prince repeated as he touched his chin while thinking. "How to did you figure the pattern out? It must have been quite a work forever a lone man to do."
What was the insulating?
Tristan did not mind. He answered truthfully which once again astonished me to no limits because this man was not taking any insults to his arrogance and solved the matter with an as common a collective mind as he could.
"Yes, that was done by asking the family members of the victims. There is always a possibility that the victims have shared what was going on in their lives and something must have been regarding the abductions." He took a sip of his tea. "Most of them had told as about people following them around which proves to be the pattern common amongst all of them."
I was silently watching the prints from where I sat. He was looking at Tristan with a calculating look in his eyes. I could understand it was hard to believe that one man had investigated his owned and managed to figure out a pattern which the royal guards and men of the court could not do.
This only meant one thing and it was disgracing the court and kingdom because the people employed there were not intelligent and capable enough to find out the action that a merchant could figure out on his own without any help from any source.
"What gave you the idea to approach the family members of the victims?" The prince said with a hard look in his eyes and I did not like where the conversation was going.
Tristan was about to answer him but I intervened. "Do we have to continue questioning him or can we move past this and forward?" The prince’s eyes snapped to him but I didn’t lower mine down. "I suppose the questions like these will only end up wasting a time which needs I remind you of, we do not have to abundance two afford wasting it."
He watched me and the distant look in his eyes appear. The look I had been watching him have for the past two days before he did anything. The Prince appeared to be calculating the events before answering.
He nodded in the end. "I suppose The Princess stands correct." He commented and turned to the merchant making my breath hitch watch the two of them carefully who did not notice the slip of tongue. "We must make haste because who knows you might get abducted again."
What’s the prince in his senses? He appeared to be spouting nonsense and his last words of his did not sit well with me. He had no idea meaning of those words hold over someone who had been through a traumatic experience.
"From where would you like to start Tristan? I would like to go by your opinion since you happen to know better than any of us." The prince glanced at him making me blush. Was that because of the words I had said earlier in the library?
Tristan nodded. I believe he was the most serious person when it came regarding the matter of deductions and the creatures of the night which he had certainly not mentioned as I now noticed.
"From the most recent victim’s house. I was supposed to meet with them today and I suppose they would not mind having more people along." He said and turned to me, "Are you ready?"
For learning more about the creatures of the night? "Yes. I am." I answered truthfully.
