The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 404: Breakfast together? - I
A throat cleared itself but I focused on his and his touch on my body that I felt everywhere on me. The heat blossomed and I wanted more; more of him.
"Ahem, the world is awake now." A soft voice slowly registered in my mind and blinked my eyes open and then repeated the action to get rid of the blur. I saw Irene’s face over Tristan’s shoulder which immediately made me panic.
"Tristan!" I gasped. "J-just move!"
His head snapped up the moment I detached my lips away from him. The fury in his eyes would have scared me but they were not directed at me.
They moved to Irene who seemingly expected it, and just lowered her eyes to the ground before lowering her head too.
"Move," I told him when he did not look back at me, but continued to stare her down in an attempt to scare her. "She is here to get my day started."
It was then he chose to look at me and I gave him a small smile. "I-I need to go."
He did not appear to be very happy about that. However, he did move. Slowly, but he did.
As he moved away, I sat up slowly. Irene came towards me and extended the slippers towards me before giving me her hand which I took.
Tristan stayed at the end of the bed and I glanced at him before looking at Irene.
She bit back, her smile, and I understood that she knew what I was asking her silently to do, to—
"I shall get started on the hath with Nandia." Irene bowed and left, leaving me to stare openmouthed, staring at her departing back.
— to get me away from him. That was what I was trying to convey to her, but she just left me with him alone, in a room.
Tristan shifted to the side as he came towards me, cutting my sight of her. "Would you come and have the first meal with me?"
I always did, whenever I could. "Yes. I would."
"What of your sister? She woke up as well. Would you ask her to come and join us or would you rather eat with her?"
What is some sort of test? Did he want me to choose between her and him?
He was waiting for my answer and it was surely a complicated one. What did he want me to say to him?
"I will ask her once I am dressed." I offered him. "It can be her decision and since I have told her everything, she can decide for herself if she wants to meet you or if she wants to do it sometime after."
I did not want to say that she would not meet him at all. That was inevitable. Catherine wanted to be involved in my life and she would have to meet someone I would marry eventually. So it had to be sooner or later rather than never.
Tristan observed me silently before he nodded once. "I’ll see you then."
All I received before he left without hearing another word from Me. As he left, Irene came out.
"Were you listening in?" I asked her, not accusing her of any sort of eavesdropping, but just asking out of curiosity.
She pointed a finger to her ears. "Sharp hearing. I can listen to anything that’s going on in the palace if I want to. Apart from that, I was not listening to what you and his Majesty were talking about. I left you alone—"
"I want you to leave me alone. I wanted you to take me away from him!" my hands moved in the air crazily as my words left me in a hurry. "You left me with him!"
She narrowed her eyes a little. "By the looks of it, I think you have been alone with me for some time."
I gaped at her. The blood rushed to my cheeks as I stared at her in disbelief before looking away.
She cleared her throat and pulled herself together as if the taunt was on her. "I did not understand and since you had been together I thought that you wanted to be alone like all mates like to be. I shall say something else the next time."
My head jerked into her direction. "There won’t be a next time!"
Irene disagreed. "Beloveds are different. I can assure you that there will be one."
I gulped.
She took me towards the bath. The hot water became a new comfort that helped me distract my mind temporarily. While Nandia wrapped oil onto my skin, before washing them, Irene presented me with the choices of dresses I had for the day. I chose the dark green color, knowing that it would be something Tristan would like to see on me.
With the dress, a hairdo was chosen to put most of my hair up so that my neck would be on display. This was something, when I asked I was told that his majesty would prefer. The mark was supposed to be shown off.
A little bit of red tint was on my cheeks and my shoes were presented to me. I was done for today.
"Shall we head for the breakfast?" Irene asked, stepping back as I pushed my feet into the heeled shoes. "No, I am going to check in on Catherine first." I had to ask her if she was willing to have dinner with Tristan and I. It had to be without the presence of anyone else, besides the two of us.
Irene bowed and stepped back. She followed me until the room occupied by Catherine.
When the door opened, I went into the dressing room, and found my sister, adjusting herself after being dressed.
"Genevive!" Her eyes found me in the mirror, and she smiled widely. "How do I look?"
"Beautiful." I complimented, going closer to her. It was the perfect time to talk, without waiting or beating around the bush. However, I did know that it was not going to be easy.
