The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 334: A New - - I
After some time, I was not sure how much of that it had passed when a knock came on my door and someone entered.
It was Anna.
"Your highness," she bowed, "I come with a message from the king. He wishes to have lunch with you."
Since I had nothing to do at this time of the night, I nodded before getting up from the bed.
Anna got me ready and even changed my hairstyle. Perhaps the thought of me dining with the king was a big event then I thought it as.
It was a private dining room. Not as big as the one that was on the floor where the family left, it was just for a private ceremony.
Only to chase remained, one for The King and one for me. Since the table was smaller, we were going to be close. Close enough for me to look at his plate.
"He would be a moment, Your highness." Anna informed me before giving me one last bow and leaving.
Huffing, I turned around and faced the other chair, right in front of me where Tristan was supposed to be. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
I had witnessed only ones, how he was holding court at night and it was quite similar to the day only they were new direct conversations with people of the country involved.
Was he doing those during the day?
No matter how much I thought of something else, my thought revolved around the letter that I was trying to bury inside my heart.
Why would my sister lie to me? In fact, it did not make any sense to begin with. Estelle was too proud to ask for my help even though I was her sister. She would never agree, at least not in a letter that I could show her for the rest of our lives that she needed my help.
Also, both of us knew and had decided but no matter what, The priority would be the kingdom. As much as I appreciated Estelle trying to get me out of here, I did not understand how she would prioritize that against her journey to the crown.
Unless—
"what are you thinking about?"
I lifted my eyes from the work that I was staring at, to the man sitting right in front of me.
"When did you come in, Tristan?"
"when you were dreaming about something else. When will you stop thinking about something else in my presence?" He gave out a tired sigh. " I would love to know what you were thinking about."
"I was thinking about my sisters." I said before I could stop myself. But since I had gone that far, I continued. " I was wondering how my eldest sister would be without me and the previous treaty. The ministers and the men in the court of my father are not exactly kind." No, they were brutal and they would do anything to make sure my sister never got to the throne.
He watched me carefully, and I felt his eyes continuously observe me. "How did the thought occur to you today?"
I huffed lightly. "It has always occurred to me. I have only been vocal about it today."
"Why not? You should have talked to me about it." A light frown creased his forehead. "I could have taken care of this problem for you sooner, Genevive."
"How?" I wondered, I truly did. "How would you have known about any of it? You would have sent some of your men, even one of them and no one would answer back. I do not think anyone would allow them in the country."
No one would ever let a creature of the night in the country, willingly at least. If possible, he would be killed on site.
Tristan smiled. The mirth dancing in those red ice told me that he had thought of something he chose not to say. "Why don’t you leave that to me? Tell me what you want to know."
As much as I wanted to know and seek his help, how was I supposed to trust him?
I did trust him once. Enough to take my life and spare the lives of others but he had done the opposite of it.
So how was I to be sure that what I wanted to know would not be a manipulation from his part.
"You are thinking of something and I would not know it until you tell me what it is." Tristan waved his hand, "out with it."
I gulped and reached over to take a step of water from the glass. I did that just to avoid answering his question and think about it a little more. What if it turned out to be just manipulation on his part?
"Genevive," His voice hardened. "Now."
The words flew out of my mouth. "What if you use this against me?"
Tristan Did not bother hearing their shock he must’ve felt from my words because his eyebrows were raised for a quick second before he schooled his expressions.
"I understand where you’re coming from." he nodded lazily. " But you should let go of those concerns because I will only manipulate you when you try to run away from me. Only I will read whatever you want to write in the letter, no one else and as long as you have written nothing of your escape, you need not worry of anything."
Escape.
Thank god that there was no way he could read what my sister had written to me. Because not only had she asked me to think of an escape and share it with her, she was ready to carry it out at the earliest.
Regardless of that, I had a hard time trusting him. What I did not understand was who kept their letter on my test. How was I supposed to get that letter back to Estelle when I did not know who to give it to?
Because Tristan may only option at this point as it seemed like he was.
