The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 312: The Justices of the king -III
What could I say that he was supposed to do in this scenario? What was it that I could actually say that would not harm anyone and even if it did, it would not be how many?
The answer was: absolutely nothing.
There was nothing that I could say that would guarantee a way out for anyone, me or the servants that I had helped escape. There were no words that could bring any kind of justification for the events that had passed.
Yet, I did not want the servants who already had nothing yet for the backbone of their families to lose whatever they had remain with them.
"Y-you," I clear my throat a little forcefully to speak clearly, "you could let them all go and punish me."
Tristan tilted his head to the side before a soft smile overtook his lips and he shook his head ever so slowly.
"Why would you even think of that, Genevieve?" He stepped closer to me, and in a flash stood right in front of me before his fingers touched my cheek. " you would have never planned something like this until someone fed you the idea. And it does not take a lot of evidence for me to be pointed into the right direction."
He knew.
And he was not planning to forgive anyone.
"but I orchestrated all of this and nothing will change that fact. I led the coup against you."
His smile remained intact. "My justice is not the justice served by everyone else. If someone has forced you to do something, they are just as guilty as you are and in this case, for me, they are more."
Another servant started to cry loudly. They tried to muffle their sounds but alas, their efforts were fruitless.
But I could not let go of this very easily. I could still do something. "Ple—"
"Vaugh," Tristan cut me off and a smile slipped off his face. "What do you think we should do to ensure the loyalty of the servants and to send a message across everyone in the kingdom?"
Oh lord have mercy...
"I think you should be turned. That should be the Consequence, eternal loyalty to you."
"Hmm," something flickered in the king’s eye, "I quite like that."
"But," Alan said, "I still think we should kill at least half of them. The fear should always remain."
"I like that too."
As much as he kept on liking whatever was offered to him as an option, I kept on feeling the dread of what was about to come.
"Please Tristan," I whispered, " do we really have to do this? I am at fault here. I should have never carried this entire coup. I was the one behind it and I am the only one who should be punished."
With the tilt of his head, he kept on watching me. As if trying to understand where I was getting at, if I was sure about what I was saying or not.
Under his analysing eyes, I could not help take a step back in consciousness.
"Are you sure?" At my questioning look, Tristan added, ``Are you sure you want that?"
I nodded.
"Alright then," he nodded And with a deep sigh stepped away from me. Just as he had done before, in a second he reached the podium where the thrones were kept.
"your punishment is going to be," he said loudly and paused for a brief second to look into my eyes, " watching each and everyone of them die." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"What?" I uttered from my throat that felt so dry that it hurt to talk. " What did you just say, Tristan?"
"Their punishment is going to be death and you are going to watch each and everyone of them dying."
I was going to watch each and everyone of them executed for something I had orchestrated and carried out? Because I had tried to help them.
I was the root cause of all of this and I was the one who was going to stay alive well they all were going to die?!
"Just kill me.." I whispered and blinked seriously to get rid of the blurriness that came with the tears. My entire body burned at this point.
At the moment if death fell on me, I would not regret but succumb to its arms. I would do anything to get away from a situation like this even if it meant leaving the one person I loved and yearned to the forgiveness of.
"Too easy," he tsked. " How would you suffer? How Would anyone learn their lesson by killing you? You have to suffer and learn. All of you and the people outside the walls of his palace. This is the perfect way of doing it."
This was too harsh. This was not the Tristan I fell in love with..
This was the Tristan who had been left behind after I had betrayed him.
But I was ready to beg him. I was ready to beg him on my knees for the freedom of those who are already suffering.
"Please," I tried again, "don’—"
"Round all of them up into the dungeons. We wait for the hour before the sun rises to pull through the executions. Put the princess in her room and tell them."
"Tristan.." I begged as vaughn came closer, "please.."
"Take her and them." He turned away before vanishing completely.
He was gone and he left me with them.
"Come on, Princess." Vaugh gently nudged me forward and I almost landed on my face to the ground just in time for him to catch me.
Stabilising me, he tsked. "I would have to carry you."
His words felt so distant to hear like he was on the other side of the palace because my mind was somewhere else. I had no idea how or who carried me or if I was carried at all but the last thing I knew was someone pulled the covers over me and whispered the word, sleep.
