The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 281: The bleeding heart - I
The food was surprisingly delicious. I was aware that the chef cooked similar food, just like how mine did back home, but there was something different about this. The test... It just tasted different and more delicious than anything I had ever tasted.
Tristan’s soft chuckle made me look up from the plate and turn back to glance at him. "what?" I said a bit defensively.
"Nothing," he continued to smile, " is the food well to your taste?"
"Very," I damn the corner of my mouth with a napkin, "I don’t remember eating this well."
Tristan chuckled softly. "That is the magic of the bond. Eating something from your beloved hand always makes it delicious. Even if you eat a raw vegetables by me, it would be the most delicious thing you ever had."
Wow, that was certainly new information. But why did I not remember how it tasted before? That only happened one time and it was when we had welcomed Darius and there was a feast throne in his honour. Even then, I guess, I was too anxious to be sitting on his lap to actually enjoy the food.
I turned away from him and faced Marilyn. Alan was reciting what he felt when he saw her for the first time which was, when we had entered the kingdom of Lethoris illegally and under false names.
The question came to my mind and I leaned back a little before turning my head to the side and whispering, ``What did you think of me when you first met me?"
"What did I think of you," he hummed, " I have to compliment your beauty because that is the first thing I saw."
Understood.
"The next thing I noticed about you was you always looked over to see if your guardian or Marilyn had enough food on their plates or not. You made sure that they were well fed and cared for."
Of course, I did. They were my people.
"Overall, as I can conclude now for sure, I can confirm that what I saw in you when I met you for the first time was true. You were gentle, caring yet firm about what you wanted to happen. You are well read and educated yet you respected a little merchant like me," I smiled, "And above all, I Knew you were mine, Genevive."
"from the very moment you met me?"
"Yes, from the moment I rested my eyes on you. In fact, I could feel that you were near me before you walked in front of me."
Astounded was the word I was looking for for what I was feeling. He knew that I was somewhere around him before I walked into his life?
"How?" I questioned, finding it unable to believe. "how would you know that I was near you especially when you’ve never met me before?"
I felt his hand on my shoulder and he moved it up and down slowly, as if trying to calm me down by rubbing the skin which did affect me greatly.
"I do not know if I should call vampirism a blessing or a curse, but since we do have the curse to live longer than anyone, we were blessed with soul mates. Soulmates that we recognise that one look. So, yes, I recognised you as my beloved at the moment I rested my eyes on you."
With his explanation, I could see a sense of what he was talking about. They, somone, had given them a silver lining for living forever. They had someone to live with, someone to create a family with.
I clubbed for Alan when he was finished and right after him Marilyn stood up and despite her shy nature, she spoke about how she had met him for the first time and sneaked in the details that I did not know of. For example, one of them narrated the incident of when they met behind my back.
Many did, actually.
Perhaps, I was not the only one who was sneaking around with Tristan behind every one’s back. That might be the reason why Marilyn and I did not question each other about our whereabouts.
"Surprised?"
I chuckled at the constant shocking news I was receiving from Merilyn. "Yes, quite."
For someone who had been with me my entire life and struggled to lie, she had very meticulously hidden her details about meeting him for me.
I would definitely take it up with her. Just to tease her, yes, I definitely would.
When my stumbling friend finished with such courage, I was the one to clap the loudest for her. As a feeling my eyes on her, Merylin looked into my direction and dipped her head in thank you before returning to her seat.
The doors to the dining room opened abruptly, making me jump. It was his hands that now rested on my shoulders, rubbing to calm me down once again that brought me peace again.
It was when I noticed what The servants were carrying that spiked up my heartbeat once more. They were carrying a number of silver goblets that I was sure were filled with celebration drinks and might be the ones that I had added something to.
I gulped when one of them bowed slightly in front of the king and held out the tray filled with goblets. The king took one before keeping it by his side and away from my eyes.
The server was Rula.
Once the king was served, all members took one goblet each. For me a similar looking goblet but gold in colour, was handed out which I took gracefully and peeked into find wine inside.
Tristan raised his Gobelet once everyone was served and the servers left the room.
"In the honor of my friend and his mating to his beloved," as everyone repeated the words, Tristan was the first one to drink, then by me when he slightly tightened his hold over my shoulders followed by Marilyn and Alan and then everyone else.
