Chapter 231: The king’s order - I

Diwal met me outside of the room. He was leaning on the wall in front of the door and straightened up as soon as he saw me.

"You look well," he said as his shoulders slumped down with relief.

"Was I not before?" I teased as I started walking.

"Don’t say it like that," he frowned as he fell into step with me. "You do not know how hard it was for everyone to lose you."

"About that," we turned to another hallway, "how was everyone?"

He looked down before raising his head and telling me with the sober expression, "it was not good. Half of them were keeping the king away from you. It was difficult for everyone because he was willing to sink his teeth inside you to make sure that you live a long life. The rest were panicking over your health."

Again? I huffed and looked at him only to collide with a wall. I fell over at the impact but braced myself by placing my hands forward.

I should really look ahead and not at someone who was walking beside me.

"Are you alright?" Diwal bent down and helped me stand up.

I nodded as I dusted my hands and stood up. "Yes and I have learnt the lesson to look forward while walking." I huffed slightly. I dropped my shoulder that ached from the impact before looking around.

I had not been in this part of the palace and this was surprising to me because I was familiar with the walls from a very long time.

"Where are we?" I asked my companion because we had not descended or ascended any kind of stairs for us to be in a completely deserted corner.

"I do not know. . . The only place I know the absolute best way is to the kitchen." Diwal looked back and forth, "Do you think that we should go back?"

"Yes," I nodded and turned around to walk away when I had a groan. It stilled me immediately. "Did you hear that?" I turned around slowly with my eyes focusing on where I heard it from. It was a huge wooden door and it looked heavy which surprised me at how I could hear the voice.

"Do we have to go and check?" When I glanced at him, Diwal appeared to be really worried. "I think we should just go back."

I gulped considering going back and I heard it again. It sounded like pain. "We have to go in. Someone could be stuck inside the door."

Diwal was quick to stand in front of me and blocked my way. "If they are stuck there then I think there is a reason for that. I think the staff of the palace must be cleaning this area too. I think they must be there for a reason."

"What reason could it be?" I replied back slightly irritated with the constant restrain. " We need to help whoever is there. For god knows how long it has been!"

Without waiting for him to reply I sidestepped him and walked to the room. It must be the last room in the hallway because it ended there.

I held the handle of the door and folded but the door did not bulge, not even slightly. I turned to Diwal, "you need to open this."

He shook his head. "We have no idea what could be on the other side of the door. I think we should just walk away. If you want we can ask someone to check in."

I huffed and objected. "Diwal, if you can ask someone else to do it we can do it ourselves as well. Now come here and open the door." He had to put those muscles to some use.

He looked torn but with the pointed look from me he nodded and ended up putting the door with all his might more than twice for it to bulge and then a few more times for it to break.

The door slightly moved away and Diwal pressed his shoulder to wait before pushing it open. Slowly it moved and he stopped when there was enough space for both of us to walk because the door still did not open completely.

I pushed past him only to gasp in horror at what I saw.

A man hung from the ceiling upside down with blood dripping from his wounds. Those marks I have seen many times and I could tell that he was being whipped. It did not seem like he was being whipped rather they were bite marks on his body and that was something that scared me the most.

I took a step back when I recognised the face as the rope made the man twirl around. My knees almost gave out when his eyes opened slightly. Diwal held me, he supported me.

"I told you we should not have come inside."

He did.

But Lysar looked worse.

I felt the tear you drop on my cheek as I cupped my mouth in horror of what was being done to him. Bite marks, whipping marks and the way the ropes were wrapped around his limbs. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

He was being tortured.

I sniffed and looked away, unable to bear the shame. "Why would someone do that?" I was on the verge of crying at the sight of the man so brutally tortured. If it was not for his chest that moved up and down with each and every breath he took I would have pronounced him dead.

I knew who might be responsible for this. There was only one King here who was tossed around in the name of.

It was the king who had ordered this. But why had he ordered days when I was being changed? He could have let Lysar go.

I turned around and sniffed loudly before wiping my tears while charging out of the room. Diwal was hot on my heels.

I had to get him out of here. I think I owed him that much.
