The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 80: The Skentic Ruins
Chapter 80: The Skentic Ruins
The Skentic Ruins were just a thirty minute trek from the city of Domum.
But since it was their first day, Wise wanted them a hundred percent, so they took a carriage from the East gate, arriving shortly after.
Now, they stood atop a mountain staring down at the vast expanse of lush forest below.
From the aerial view they had of the ruins, they could see its ancient structure with perfect clarity.
The ancient city had been a marvel of architecture once. Although degraded to dust and rubble, one could still see the lingering genius behind their work.
Surrounding the ruins are a series of walls that formed a three-ring structure. The first ring, also known as the inner ring, stood at the very centre of the ruin.
It was a place that researchers believed housed the then nobles of the kingdom. But now, it was the breeding ground for the most vicious monsters and demons.
The second ring, the middle ring, was by far the largest section of the Skentic ruins.
This part of the ring had towering structures, what would have been awe-inspiring sights now lay broken and desolate, like the aftermath of a cataclysm.
And then the third ring, the outer ring, the breeding ground for new adventurers who wanted to improve their abilities through consistent battle...
But they would not be starting there today. Instead, they would be starting outside the outer ring.
Because these girls had much to learn.

"Alright, let’s get started," Wise said as he stretched his arms and legs.
They had found a nice clearing far enough from the ruins to avoid too much monster interruption, but close enough to leave a lingering fear of it.
He walked up to different robust trees and began carving some names into them: Daphne, Freya, Esme, Aofie and X.
Then when he was done, he turned to face the girls, who were now staring at him curiously.
"Now let me explain to you what we are going to be doing. First of all, before we even get to martial arts or swordsmanship, you guys are going to need physical training to strengthen your body," he explained.
"When using your abilities, spiritual energy becomes turbulent. The more you strengthen your body, the more energy can flow."
Aofie nodded. From the way she acknowledged his words, he could tell that this was not the first time she was hearing this.
"But that is not all you’re going to be doing..." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The four girls watched him curiously as he walked to the trees he had marked, following closely behind him.
He lifted his fist and a faint steamy aura enveloped it, swirling around it like smoke.
"This is a simple Spirit technique. All you have to do is let your energy flow through the channels in your fingers. Try it."
"Is this our training? This is too easy!" Aofie said, waving her energy-coated hands around.
As expected, she and Daphne got it on their first try, but Esme and Freya were still struggling.
Both of them had previous training, but as for Esme and Freya, this was completely new to them.
"It keeps fizzling away," Esme complained, an annoyed look on her face as she focused the energy into her palms.
Meanwhile, Freya pouted as another stream of energy vanished from her hands, fizzling into thin air. "It’s like trying to hold water."
"Pause and close your eyes," Wise instructed.
Following his instructions, they both stopped summoning their energy and paused.
There was a calm breeze blowing past them, causing the trees to rustle quietly.
It was the perfect environment for concentration...
Wise’s words came quiet and smooth, "Listen to your heartbeat, attune to its rhythm. Then follow it and create an imaginary passage from your heart to your fingers."
"Once you have established that connection, take a deep breath, and then when you exhale, imagine your spiritual energy flowing out like a calm breeze."
It was the same method his master had used on him when he first began training with her.
Following his words, both Freya and Esme closed their eyes, listened to their heartbeat and exhaled...
Once they did, the smoky wisps of energy emerged from their hands, completely encasing their fingers.
"Now, just keep that flow going and open your eyes."
Esme’s eyes brightened when she saw the aura. Unable to hide her excitement, she leapt into the air, punching at the sky, after which the manna completely disappeared.
"Nooo!" she cried, rubbing her hands as though she was nursing a child.
Meanwhile, Freya kept her eyes on her hand as though she had received a new revelation.
Maybe she had figured out something about her abilities, or maybe she was just awestruck by the basic technique... Wise did not know.
He waited for Esme to redo her skill before he walked towards the tree marked X.
"You will build up your physical strength through daily exercises, but the true test to determine if you will move to the next stage is this.
A large whisky aura engulfed Wise’s hand as he turned to face the tree.
Boom!
His fist exploded against the bark, sending wisps of energy into it and blowing out the entire bottom of the tree away.
The tree fell backward with a bang, crashing into the forest behind it.
There was a brief moment of silence, the princesses watching the carnage with varying degrees of surprise.
Wise walked away and the bracelet on his hand shimmered, after which a wooden chair appeared out of thin air.
He took a seat and smiled.
"You have one month. Tear down your tree with only the basic spirit technique or your physical strength. No elements, no affinities."
"If you fail, you’re out, and I will personally return you back to your city."
"But if you pass, you will grow to even greater heights..."
Wise wouldn’t have used such a threat if he did not know the current mental state of the girls.
Firstly, he did not choose them based on pure chance. Getting any random princess would have been completely useless to him, so he focused on some special attributes.
Princesses from warrior houses like Daphne, Freya and Aofie.
And girls with an unusual drive like Esme.
But that was not all, he had noticed it ever since their battle with the Kraken. That experience, had been the catalyst that set up a fire within them.
They wanted to be strong, and he was the fastest way they could achieve strength.
The question though was... How long will they last, before one of them gives up?
They were nobles after all...
