Chapter 30: Misunderstood Dragon (1)

The semifinals proceeded smoothly, after being bombarded by a series of unfair situations by the Ork queen, facing off against regular people was rather easy.

His opponent was a warrior who wielded a battle axe with outstanding finess and his skill could disrupt the ground to affect his opponents movements.

He did well, but the fight didn’t last long. Within five minutes, Wise had already dispatched the man, leaving him unconscious at the center of the field.

Wise then proceeded with the second round of the semifinals, this time against a polearm user.

The Ork showed considerable strength, pushing himself to break past his limits in each instant, but it was nothing compared to the profane mockingbird.

Each time he would break his limits, Wise was there to put him down.

Wise evaded a number of its strikes, stepping to the warrior’s back and knocking him to the floor.

The Ork got up, enraged and struck, pushing his spear forward with gusto, but Wise jumped backward, dodging the first strike.

Pole arms were good because of their reach, but they had one fatal flaw...

Whoosh!

Wise appeared right next to the man and grabbed the shaft of the weapon with his left hand. The man’s eyes widened in fear, just as Wise’s blow crashed against his nose, speeding blood.

...If you managed to get just close enough, they would be rendered useless.

The man stumbled back, lifting his fists in a drunken manner, then he swung a few times at thin air just before he fell face first, collapsing on the hard stone floor.

That was how the semifinals were concluded.

Wise left the arena immediately the fight was over, the real fight was going to be at the finals tomorrow and then his fight with the princess. But even then, Wise doubted it would excite him much.

He went through a familiar path, one that led to the queen’s mansion and continued until he was right in front of her door.

Wise had to hurry back to his inn to check on Rosa, after which he would try to find the demon.

But he could not leave without at least informing the girls that they would not be meeting.

Knock Knock

The wooden door let out a dull sound as his knuckles tapped against its frame.

He heard the peephole snap open and a few whispers, no doubt the maids leaving to inform them of his arrival.

So he waited for some time until Daphne and the two princesses stepped out.

He did not give them too much detail, all he did was inform them that he would be busy for the next couple of days.

"Make sure you stay indoors, at least until we leave the city. It shouldn’t be long now..."

Daphne frowned slightly. "Is it that serious?"

Wise shook his head. "It’s a small matter." Except the demon was highly ranked, defeating it would be a breeze.

But Wise did not tell them about the demon and neither did he tell them about the girl he had locked in his room.

Wise knew them well, if he told them what was going on Daphne would sneak away to help, while Freya would get upset at the mention of another girl.

Daphne sighed, seemingly unconvinced but did not push further. After wishing them a good night Wise went straight back to the inn.

He greeted the receptionist but the young Ork took a second to reply.

"Are you okay?" Wise asked, already at the first step.

The Ork shook his head slightly. "Ohh boss, your back?"

Wise cocked a brow. "Yeahh, you’re good?"

"I’m fine boss, I’ve just been feeling a bit out of it since this morning," He replied, holding onto his head.

Wise began to ascend the steps. "Alright, try to get some sleep, you work too much."

"Yes boss." Came the receptionist’s voice as Wise disappeared above.

Wise walked past a number of rooms— some of which were exuding ’passionate sounds’ before he arrived at his door.

Knock Knock

Wise waited for sometime but heard no answer.

"Rosa?"

’Good girl.’He had told her to ignore anyone who came at the door and it was a relief to see she was doing just that.

Wise plunged his key into the keyhole, grabbed the door handle and pushed the door open, but once he stepped into the room, Rosa was nowhere in sight.

"Rosalind?"

The only window in the room.... the window he had shut the night before was wide open. Billowing in the wind were his porcelain white curtains as the chilly night wind entered the room.

Wise hurried over to the window and observed it. The wooden frame was slightly depressed, as though someone hand stepped on it—

Although he was unsure if it had been here before, it made him wonder...

’Did she jump?’

The door had been shut from behind so how was she able to leave?

With panic slowly creeping into his heart, Wise was about to hurry out of the room when he heard a creaking sound, followed by the sound of light footsteps.

He immediately turned in the direction of the sound, his eyes landing on a shadowy figure.

The individual stepped forward, into the light cast by the moon and Wise breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Rosa?"

Her hair was wet and wrinkly from just having a bath and her skin was moist with water, glistening from the moon’s light.

There was a light blue towel wrapped around her body but the towel was not that big, parts of her chest was visible and it only went half way down her thighs, revealing a lot of skin.

While she walked forward, she was using the edge of the towel to dry the water that had somehow found its way into her ears.

That was when she saw him—

The girl suddenly froze and she blinked, staring blankly as Wise.

There was a short moment of silence and then her light grey skin blushed red, and very much to Wise’s horror, she screamed...

"P-Pervert!!!"
