The Prime Minister Seduced Me to have Babies!-Chapter 372: Disagreement
Lao Jiu was anxious, "Then tell me, what should I do for you to agree?"
Guihua hesitated for a while, "I, I have to ask Yingzi first. If she doesn’t agree, then just, just forget it."
When Lao Jiu heard this, "I thought it was something serious. Leave this to me, I’ll talk to Yingzi."
Guihua turned her head, "Talk to her properly, she’s quite headstrong now."
Lao Jiu was confident, "Don’t worry."
He came out of the kitchen with a face full of joy, walked around the courtyard a couple of times but didn’t see Yingzi. He guessed she was in the backyard taking a nap.
Lao Jiu couldn’t just go into the backyard, so he went into the west wing to grind herbs, spending his energy.
In the afternoon, Lao Jiu finally saw Yingzi and Third Sister coming out from the backyard. Lao Jiu waved at Yingzi, "Yingzi, come here."
Yingzi entered the west wing, tilted her head, and looked at Lao Jiu, "Uncle Nine, what’s up?"
Lao Jiu squatted down to look at Yingzi, "Tell me, am I good to you, Uncle Nine?"
Yingzi nodded, "Yes, I like playing with you."
Lao Jiu happily said, "Then from now on, I’ll play with you every day, okay?"
Yingzi puzzled, "You already play with me every day."
Lao Jiu whispered, "It’s different. In the future, I’ll live with you and your mother, taking care of you both. What do you think?"
Yingzi thought for a moment, blinked her eyes, seemingly not quite understanding what Lao Jiu meant.
Lao Jiu felt it wasn’t good to be too vague with a child, so he bluntly said, "Yingzi, I want to marry your mother, and then I’ll be your dad, okay?"
Yingzi’s face suddenly changed dramatically, "No, I have a dad!"
After saying that, she ran out of the room.
Lao Jiu followed her out, seeing her run towards the kitchen, probably looking for Guihua.
He chased after her, and standing outside the kitchen, he heard Yingzi crying, "I don’t want to, I have a dad, I don’t want someone else to be my dad."
Lao Jiu felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his heart.
He didn’t expect Yingzi to react so strongly.
The closeness Yingzi usually showed him, the wontons she served him today, could it all have been fake?
Maybe she could only accept an Uncle Nine, but not a stepfather.
Lao Jiu stood outside the kitchen for a while, then silently returned to the west wing.
At dinner, Yun Jiao noticed that Lao Jiu looked like a wilted eggplant, completely lacking his usual energy.
Meanwhile, Guihua was eating with her head down, obviously in a bad mood.
Yun Jiao and Mrs. Chen exchanged a few glances. Both understood each other’s meaning, what’s up with these two?
Mrs. Chen blinked again, and Yun Jiao understood; it meant "I’ll ask Guihua later."
After dinner, Yun Jiao headed to the backyard.
She walked to Granny Tian’s place in the main room and beckoned her over, and Granny Tian quickly came.
Yun Jiao asked, "How is she today?"
Granny Tian replied, "She’s quite good, didn’t cry, just spaced out. She just ate, sitting there now."
Yun Jiao nodded and walked away.
Before long, Mrs. Chen came over from the front yard, mysteriously pulling Yun Jiao into the room, "Guess what happened, Lao Jiu wants someone to propose to Guihua, but Yingzi won’t agree."
Yun Jiao curiously said, "Yingzi usually likes Lao Jiu a lot, doesn’t she? How could this be?"
Mrs. Chen shook her head, "Who can guess a child’s mind?"
"Sigh, actually aside from his age, Lao Jiu is quite alright. Guihua, being a widow with a child, having someone to rely on would be good."
"Don’t judge by how she seems fine now; it’s because she’s with us and doesn’t have to be bullied. Before, in the village, she was bullied often."
"Once during a heavy rain, someone dug her field embankment, and all the water flooded her land."
"And it wasn’t just that, there were many incidents. In the village, if there’s no man in the household, one can only be bullied."
