The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 506 - Adaptive Arsenal
It appeared the core had been sealing the Snake King Black Mamba, the true boss of the Lightless Sewers.
“You sealed the Snake King Black Mamba?” Han Wu asked, already suspecting he was right.
Ji Dezhu nodded, then shook his head, pointing at the five chips. “Not me, but us. We almost lost everything in that battle. Fortunately, we had previously had the Mechmouse King absorb the Nanite Mythril, and in the end, it managed to drag me out and save me. From that day onward, the mechanical snakes in the sewers were replaced with mechanical mice.”
Han Wu’s respect for Ji Dezhu grew.
“Now, I’ve told you my story, and I didn’t lie a single time,” Ji Dezhu said bitterly, staring at the ground.
Kerry nodded. Her lie detector indeed hadn’t picked up any falsehoods. It was time for Han Wu to decide on a chip.
Glancing inside the chest, he picked out Adaptive Arsenal. This chip could transform into any of the hundred different gun schematics recorded in it at a command.
Han Wu picked this chip out for his right arm to balance out what he had equipped on the left. Cable Form could handle close and medium-range foes, so a long-range attack seemed most appropriate.
With that done, he gave the Mouse King Pika chip back to Ji Dezhu. Ji Dezhu carefully held the chip with tears flowing down his cheeks. His old partner had returned to him once more. After tucking the chip away, he started to leave, only to stop halfway.
“I know you’re strong,” he said, back still facing Han Wu. “The fact that you have the Snake King Black Mamba chip is evidence of that. But the Machine God Cult isn’t easy to deal with. I didn’t tell you about the Nanite Mythril because I was worried that it would expose my location. I’ve grown used to my peaceful life. I don’t want to experience another adventure anymore.”
“Then you should leave as soon as you can,” Han Wu advised. “Your son stole the Mechmouse King because the Machine God Cult tricked him. They wanted him to release the mechanical python down there.”
Ji Dezhu nodded stiffly, then silently left the room. Kerry was also sleepy from the accumulated fatigue and returned to rest as well.
Han Wu, on the other hand, was eager to test out his new arm. He also brought both Luxun and Jumen out of the city to test their new functions.
Equipping the new chip brought up a selection of different guns that his right arm could transform into. There was a small handgun, a rifle, a Gatling, a grenade launcher, a hand cannon, a bazooka, and even a laser cannon. The power of each gun was different, but more energy was needed for the heavier-duty ones. Thankfully, Luxun could automatically gather and transfer energy to him as needed.
Han Wu spent some time testing and familiarizing himself with the various guns. While still far from proficient, with his aptitude, he would likely master it in no time.
Once satisfied with his progress, he moved on to testing the Snake King Black Mamba chip, which he inserted into Jumen.
After activating it, Jumen lengthened and coiled into a massive mechanical python. Its tail could shatter boulders, and its massive fangs could bite through most alloys. Moreover, it even gained the ability to release poison gas.
This gas was useless against automatons but deadly to biological life forms. The Lawless Civilization, being a land of mechanical life forms, meant it was of little use here. However, it would surely show its true worth once Han Wu left this place.
Jumen had grown massive after transforming. Han Wu was delighted to find a sharp increase in its speed, making traveling more energy efficient. He tested the various functions and returned to the shop at daybreak.
As he stepped into the shop, he heard Ji Zhongyi shout, “You old fart, you can leave if you want, but don’t drag me with you. I want to go with my master!”
Han Wu frowned in distaste. Not only was Ji Zhongyi an idiot, but he was also stupid, weak, and had a bad attitude. He was useless. If not for his father, he would’ve died a long time ago.
“You idiot! Do you really think I’m harming you? You’ve attracted unwanted trouble. We need to leave while we still can. We’ll both die if the Machine God Cult finds us.”
Ji Zhongyi ignored him, staring admiringly at Han Wu. “What’re you worried about? My master can defeat them easily!”
“I don’t recall taking you in as my disciple,” Han Wu said disdainfully, eyeing Ji Zhongyi’s bandaged form.
Ji Zhongyi didn't care. “You’ve saved me once, so you’re my master! A master is also a father figure, so I might as well call you my father instead!”
Han Wu almost fainted. Worse still, this self-proclaimed son was several years older than him, too. Ji Zhongyi’s nonsensical words left Han Wu truly flabbergasted, and the only words he could muster were a barked, “Get lost!”
“Alright.” Ji Zhongyi happily ran off.
Ji Dezhu glared after his stupid son. For Ji Zhongyi to call someone else his father was like spitting on his face.
Not wanting to incur Ji Dezhu’s wrath, Han Wu kept the conversation short. “Boss, we’re heading to the Weeping Mines today.”
Ji Dezhu nodded. After all, it wasn’t his place to stop Han Wu. The only thing he could do was teach his stupid son a much-needed lesson.
“Good luck, and be careful of the Machine God Cult.”
“I will. You should be careful too.”
