The dull hum of the divine hall buzzed faintly as light particles slowly coalesced into forms.
One by one, lesser gods who had fallen in the battlefield reappeared here, returning to the waiting room—an ancient hall crafted from celestial marble and veiled in swirling mists.
At the far end of the grand chamber, laughter echoed.
Decay materialized, stepping into the hall just in time to catch sight of the culprits.
Joy and Causality stood near one of the ethereal pillars, talking animatedly like two old friends who'd just pulled off some ridiculous stunt. Joy's brow twitched with annoyance, while Causality had a grin plastered on his face.
Decay sighed heavily, dragging a hand across her face. "Idiots" she muttered, hearing every word from her position.
Causality chuckled, clapping Joy on the back. "Hey, don't be mad! That explosion? You gotta admit—it was entertaining."
Joy scowled. "Entertaining? Man, you should be crowned as the God of Suicide Bombers after that stunt."
Causality raised a brow, smirking mockingly. "Nah, I think you're closer to the title. After all, you let your guard down, genius."
Joy opened his mouth to argue but froze when Causality pulled something from the folds of his cloak.
A... mobile phone?
Causality held it up like a trophy. The black, sleek device pulsed with divine energy. "By the way, I recorded your face when you realized what I was doing." His grin widened devilishly. "It's golden, bro."
Joy's heart dropped. "You what?!"
"Yep." Causality spun the phone on his finger. "Right here. Want to see it looped ten times?"
Joy's eye twitched. He quickly switched tactics, clasping his hands together and flashing his most charming, flattery-laced smile."Brother," he said sweetly, "dearest brother, please do me a favor and delete that. Just this once, yeah?"
Causality's grin deepened. "Brother, huh?" He crossed his arms, pretending to think.
"Weren't you the one who used to help me make memes of the other gods? You loved spreading them all over the Realms! But now..." His grin became razor sharp. "Now, it's your turn."
Joy lunged for the phone, snarling. "Give it here, damn it!"
Causality dodged effortlessly, holding the phone above his head. "Uh-uh!" he teased, laughing as he backpedaled.
"Where's that ruthless strategist from earlier, huh? I thought you were calm and collected! What happened to him?!"
"You!" Joy snapped, still trying to grab the device.
The two wrestled like bickering children, darting between pillars and knocking over chairs formed from star-forged stone. Their antics drew groans from other lesser gods, who'd already gotten used to this chaotic duo.
Decay crossed her arms and stared at them flatly, watching as they spun around like fools. "Idiots," she muttered again under her breath.
Yet, despite the headache they caused, the faintest of smiles tugged at her lips.
Joy's voice rang out again. "Causality, I swear by the Void, if you send that to Trickster or Discord—"
Causality howled with laughter. "Oh, you know it's already halfway through the Realm Network!"
"You're dead!" Joy shouted, as the two goes around the corner in their ridiculous chase.
As Joy and Causality were still locked in their childish chase when two more familiar faces materialized nearby—Thunder and Ruin.
Thunder, arms crossed and a mischievous spark flickering in his eyes, smirked as he approached the duo. "Hey, Causality," he called out, voice dripping with amusement.
"You're gonna love this—I just captured his face when he was flattering you earlier." He waved a crystalline shard that played a short loop of Joy's pleading expression. "Perfect reaction shot. Might want to splice it in."
Causality burst out laughing, wiping a tear from his eye. "Oh, that's going in the edit!"
From behind them, Ruin gracefully strolled forward, lips curling into a wicked smile. "And don't worry, boys," she purred, "I'll make sure to edit it in the most... creative way possible."
Joy froze mid-dash, spinning toward them with a horrified look. "You guys are plotting against me! What kind of twisted alliance is this?!"
Causality, Thunder, and Ruin shared a glance—then all three grinned like conspirators.
Panic creeping into his voice, Joy lunged once more at Causality's phone, but Thunder casually intercepted with a smirk.
"Oh no you don't," Thunder said slyly, tossing the phone high into the air where it vanished into a streak of lightning... reappearing smoothly in Decay's hand.
"Here you go, sister," Thunder said with mock formality. "Please don't let Joy snatch this."
Decay, who had been watching silently from the side, caught the device with ease, blinking at the group.
As Joy skidded to a stop in front of her, he softened his tone immediately.
"Sis," Joy pleaded, trying to regain his dignity, "please... could you give me that mobile?"
But to Decay's eyes, Joy didn't look like the seasoned warrior or god he usually was. Right now, he was just a sulking child begging for his toy back.
Her lips twitched.
Inwardly, she thought, Ah... how rare. He looks so... innocent right now.
A rare sparkle of mischief entered her normally stoic gaze. Decay tucked the device behind her back and tilted her head coyly. "Hmm... tempting offer, but..."
Joy's eyes widened. "No, no, don't but me—!"
"I think," Decay said, tone dripping with amusement as she turned to join the others, "I'll be keeping this for now. Might even help with the editing."
The collective laughter that erupted from Thunder, Ruin, and Causality echoed through the entire hall.
Joy stood there, jaw slack. "Et tu, sis?!"
As Joy chased after Decay, who was already strolling away with casual grace, the others followed, chuckling and egging each other on.
All around them, lesser gods shook their heads, sighing at the sight of four powerful deities acting like children in a playground.
Decay, glancing back at Joy's desperate face, allowed herself a soft chuckle. "Maybe teasing him a little isn't so bad after all.''
