The One Who Writes Existence-Chapter 26: Nah!
Chapter 26 - Nah!
"Thank you... Oh great ruler of this verse."
Zar heard the words. They echoed in the depths of his mind, carrying an unshakable reverence.
And yet, in this moment, he barely acknowledged them. Not because they were unimportant, but because his mind was preoccupied—drowned in something else entirely.
Something that left him feeling utterly defeated.
To understand why, let's go back a little earlier...
---
The grand, mesmerizing view of Kairos Eternis filled the screen before Zar's eyes.
It was his first time seeing it, and to put it simply—it was stunning. The Elythros, the heart of the multiverse, surrounded by endless cosmic rivers of pure energy. Worlds floated in the infinite expanse, bending and shifting as if guided by unseen hands. The entire place looked less like a physical realm and more like a masterpiece—painted across the canvas of reality itself.
Zar couldn't help but admire it.
"System, this looks beautiful."
The System's voice responded almost immediately, its tone carrying a teasing edge.
["At least your sense of beauty is still normal."]
Zar rolled his eyes. He could have responded, but honestly, what was the point? Arguing with the System was like trying to fight the concept of annoyance itself.
Instead, he simply ignored the jab and focused on the broadcast.
The Gods were arriving at Kairos Eternis.
Aetherion, the God of Time and Space, was the first to speak, his words laced with authority.
But before he could continue, Ignis immediately cut in, his voice sharp and filled with an almost confrontational energy.
For a moment, it seemed like a clash of titans was about to unfold. The air of tension was thick.
But then...
Something felt off.
Zar narrowed his eyes as he listened more closely. The way Ignis and Aetherion bickered—it wasn't quite what he expected from two beings of unimaginable power. Their tone, their choice of words, their attitude...
It felt less like a divine dispute between two supreme entities—
And more like...
Two kids arguing over who gets the last slice of cake.
Zar blinked.
"Hey System, did you see this?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
["What's so great about that?"] the System replied lazily. ["Even you act like that."]
Zar's eye twitched.
"F** you, System, at least be serious!"*
["Well,"] the System hummed, ["it's because they're young."]
Zar tilted his head, confused. "Young? Oh? Then by how much?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.
The System answered nonchalantly, ["Nothing much. Just around a million years."]
Silence.
A Short, heavy silence.
Zar's expression remained blank for a moment before he loudly exclaimed,
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! How is that 'young'—"
But then he froze.
Something felt wrong.
His instincts screamed at him. Something about this conversation was off.
And just as he realized it, the System's voice returned, this time laced with pure mockery.
["Hey Zar, are you a big smart man with a tiny brain in which a total of a million cells live? Or did you conveniently forget the term '4.5 billion years'? Or should I continue...?"]
Zar immediately surrendered.
"SORRY, SORRY, MY MISTAKE!"
He could feel the dangerous aura the System was radiating. Whenever the System got this tone, it was best not to challenge it. He had learned that the hard way.
With a relieved sigh, Zar quickly shifted his attention back to the screen, escaping the dangerous conversation.
He watched as Eterna, the Goddess of Life and Death, trying to handle the squabble between Ignis and Aetherion.
Her presence was like that of an older sister keeping her rowdy younger siblings in check—firm, yet gentle?
Zar exhaled.
"Are these guys really supposed to be gods?"
The System let out a small chuckle. ["Well, at least right now, they're together."]
Zar nodded slightly. "Yeah... you're right."
Then—Zephiron and Noctis came into view.
The moment Zar saw them, he couldn't hold back his laughter.
Zephiron, standing off to the side, arms crossed, watching the chaos unfold. Noctis, a knowing smirk on his face, observing everything with quiet amusement.
It was like seeing two guys at a party, watching their drunk friends get into a ridiculous argument over something completely trivial.
Zar's laughter echoed through the space.
To his surprise, even the System started laughing.
["This... this is something even I couldn't predict!"] the System wheezed.
Zar smirked. "These two really look like that one guy in a friend group who just enjoys watching the drama unfold, completely unbothered."
As the scene settled, his gaze fell upon another figure—the Guardian of Elythros.
This time, he barely reacted.
"Now I'm not that shocked." His tone was indifferent, as if he had simply accepted the ridiculousness of what he was witnessing.
And then he heard the Guardian speak.
It clicked.
The reason why he wasn't invited.
Zar let out a short chuckle, shaking his head.
"Well, that's a good point, System. Since I can't gain anything from that, why would I be invited?"
But despite his words, there was a faint trace of disappointment in his voice.
The System, however, wasn't about to let that slide.
["You're partially right,"] said smoothly.
["Because you could destabilize the whole of Kairos Eternis with your unstable power, man."]
Zar blinked.
Then, after a brief moment of thought, he simply smiled. "Yeah... that actually makes sense."
With that, he turned his gaze back to the divine spectacle before him.
The way Aetherion's authority expanded, bending time and space into an unimaginable, breathtaking cosmic tapestry; how Ignis's power surged, elemental forces intertwining in a dance of raw beauty; how Eterna's essence wove life and death together in a grand harmony—each display was beyond anything Zar had ever witnessed.
He watched, mesmerized, as the scene culminated in a singular, awe-inspiring moment.
Zar's lips curled slightly.
"Well... that was memorable."
The divine display had just ended, leaving behind an ethereal afterglow across Kairos Eternis.
The very fabric of reality seemed to shimmer, echoing the lingering resonance of the gods' combined authorities.
But just as Zar was lost in thought, something on the screen caught his attention.
Aetherion stepped forward, his expression calm yet filled with curiosity.
His green eyes locked onto the Guardian of Elythros, and then, with a smirk, he said:
"Guardian, let's meet tomorrow."
Zar furrowed his brows.
"Wait... what?"
Just as the Guardian opened his mouth to question the statement, something happened.
One by one, the Main Gods began to vanish.
No grand teleportation spell. No dramatic exit.
Just—gone.
--------
Zar's eyes slowly widened as something clicked in his mind.
His lips parted as he realized something important—something critical.
His gaze snapped back to the screen, replaying the divine spectacle in his mind. The breathtaking fusion of all the Main Gods' powers.
The balance of Time, Space, Elements, Life, Death, Light, Darkness, Storms, Fate, and even Destruction—all forming a single entity, a cosmic flower blooming across Kairos Eternis.
And then—he heard Aetherion's words again.
'Let's meet tomorrow.'
Zar narrowed his eyes.
His thoughts raced.
And then—he asked the question.
"System... when will you create a realm for the competition that will happen tomorrow?"
Silence.
Then—
The System responded.
But its voice carried a questioning—almost playful—tone.
["Why would I?"]
Zar blinked.
The atmosphere shifted.
Something was wrong.
Zar's face darkened. "What do you mean 'why would I'?! You said before that you'd help me create a realm!"

But the System's response?
A single, simple word.
["Nah."]
