The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 54
As Kang Se-heon stepped out of the meeting, his secretary quickly approached from behind and pressed the elevator button. With a mechanical sound, the elevator doors slid open, and Kang Se-heon stepped inside first, followed closely by his secretary. Once the doors shut and the elevator began its descent, the secretary checked his phone and shared the latest update he had just received.
“It seems that Wonha Electronics was indeed planning to use KH’s distribution network.”
“Yeah. If that weren’t the case, there’s no way Wonha would have agreed to work with them so easily.”
He had been curious about why Wonha Electronics had chosen to side with his uncle. Kang Se-heon had been considering what conditions Wonha had proposed, so he sent his secretary to confirm whether his assumptions were correct. Now, seeing that his prediction had been spot on, his secretary couldn’t help but ask.
“How did you know?”
Without shifting his gaze from the decreasing numbers on the elevator display, Kang Se-heon answered in a calm murmur.
“Something Wonha doesn’t have, but KH Mart does. The fact that Wonha is willing to take on a project with no business viability just to gain access to KH Mart. It’s obvious, isn’t it?”
With Kang Se-heon’s explanation, the secretary nodded in understanding.
“The one area where Wonha Electronics has always lagged behind us—the web of distribution spread throughout this country. They need that to launch their new product.”
“Then shouldn’t we stop them?”
“I don’t know. Do you think we can, when my uncle is pushing this hard?”
Kang Se-heon had already given up, assuming it was impossible.
Stepping out into the hotel lobby, he slipped a hand into his pocket and pulled out his phone. As he turned on the screen to check his messages, his secretary, with a grave expression, spoke up from behind.
“The new product Wonha is releasing this time is almost identical to what KH is putting out. Depending on how they market it, the market share could shift significantly. Are we really just going to stand by and watch?”
KH had incorporated a new technology into its upcoming phone, but the same was true for Wonha. With KH not being exceptionally ahead in terms of technical superiority, the secretary’s concerns were understandable.
The solution to selling a similar product more effectively was simple—either spend a fortune hiring high-profile celebrities to endorse it or flood the market with units to maximize visibility. In that sense, Wonha Electronics envied KH’s distribution network, something they had never been able to establish on their own.
“So, they’ve decided to go all out to crush me this time. My uncle... and Wonha both.”
Their interests aligned, so of course, they would join forces.
Even as he saw through their intentions, Kang Se-heon remained as composed as ever. Whether or not Wonha used their distribution network was of little concern to him.
“I was already considering new distribution channels. How long are we going to follow the same fixed routes, like a city bus sticking to its schedule?”
The distribution network his grandfather had spent a lifetime building, both domestically and internationally, was nothing but outdated infrastructure in Kang Se-heon’s eyes.
“Assemble a TF team.”
“Understood.”
“Pick out the top-performing employees from each department and compile a list.”
It seemed he had been planning something since the moment Wonha’s partnership with KH Mart was announced, as he gave his orders without hesitation.
“The timeframe is three months, the location is...”
His words trailed off.
At the café on the side of the lobby, he spotted a familiar face.
Maybe because he had been thinking about his uncle, but now his aunt had conveniently appeared before him. He debated whether to ignore her and walk away, but the situation resolved itself regardless of his choice.
“Over here.”
Han Mi-sun waved at him and gestured for him to come over.
For all his indifference toward Wonha’s attempts to pressure him, the mere sight of his aunt made him sigh in exhaustion.
“Do you still have something left to expect from me?”
Hearing his muttered remark, his secretary tactfully took a step back, pretending not to hear. Kang Se-heon reluctantly moved toward her.
The person sitting across from Han Mi-sun had their back turned to him, so he couldn’t see who it was. Yet, for some reason, he already felt an inexplicable aversion.
“Were you working? A meeting?”
“Yes. What brings you here, Aunt?”
“Oh, I just happened to run into a familiar face and decided to chat. Ah, right, you two already know each other. Say hello. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
The slightly elevated pitch in Han Mi-sun’s voice likely sounded unnatural not only to him but to everyone around.
The person sitting opposite her turned to face him.
The moment he saw her face, Kang Se-heon let out a dry chuckle.
To go as far as arranging a meeting like this—how simple-minded.
“It’s been a while, oppa.”
At Jung Hae-jin’s greeting, Kang Se-heon merely gave a brief nod in response.
Even with such a minimal exchange, the difference in interest between them was clear.
Now that he understood the reason for his summons, he had no excuse to leave. But where should he sit?
He glanced between the seats beside Han Mi-sun and Jung Hae-jin. Logically, he should take the seat across from Jung Hae-jin, which meant he would have to sit beside his aunt.
“Why are you just standing there? Come on, have a seat.”
Han Mi-sun, oblivious to his hesitation, continued to fawn over Jung Hae-jin.
“How long has it been since you and Se-heon last met? Two years? Three?”
“Six years.”
“Really? It’s already been that long? Time flies. You were so pretty back then, Hae-jin, and you’ve only gotten more beautiful.”
“Thank you.”
While Han Mi-sun reminisced aloud, mumbling, “Yes, that’s right,” Kang Se-heon finally took his seat.
It was next to Han Mi-sun and directly across from Jung Hae-jin.
He hated sitting next to people he didn’t want to see.
“Se-heon also said he wanted to see Hae-jin again. I mean, you two were close back then, so of course.”
Had he ever said such a thing?
Kang Se-heon debated whether he should correct Han Mi-sun, but in the end, he let it slide.
“That was a long time ago.”
“That’s what makes it even more special. Relationships like this are rare these days.”
As Han Mi-sun enthusiastically took on the role of matchmaker, Kang Se-heon focused on his phone, sorting through his messages. Jung Hae-jin, sitting across from him with an awkward expression, prompted Han Mi-sun to suddenly remember something.
“Oh dear, I completely forgot I had an appointment.”
Checking the time on her phone, she hurriedly gathered her belongings.
“I’ll be heading out now, so you two go ahead and talk. Catch up on how you’ve been. Alright?”
No one at the table was oblivious to the fact that she was intentionally creating this moment for them. However, Kang Se-heon had no interest in entertaining her schemes, so he simply stayed silent. He wasn’t the only one. Even though Jung Hae-jin was well aware that this was a setup disguised as coincidence, she merely smiled and didn’t try to stop it.
“Well then, see you next time.”
Han Mi-sun gave Jung Hae-jin a knowing look before leaving. Her quick, confident strides made it clear that she believed her absence would bring the two of them closer.
As soon as she disappeared into the lobby, the shy smile on Jung Hae-jin’s face vanished. The delicate, reserved demeanor she had displayed moments ago was completely gone, replaced with a bold and lively presence.
Kang Se-heon showed no sign of surprise at her sudden change in attitude. It was as if he had known all along that this was her true self.
Her voice, now carrying more weight, broke the silence.

“Do you have any idea how hard it is to see your face?”
“And what do you plan to do after seeing it?”
“Still as good as ever at saying things that make people feel unappreciated.”
Jung Hae-jin narrowed her eyes slightly, but Kang Se-heon offered no response.
“Seriously, how cold. Do you think I should have to go this far just to see you? Do you have any idea how many hours I flew to get here?”
“Fly back.”
“Oppa!”
Jung Hae-jin raised her voice in frustration. The attention from nearby guests made Kang Se-heon glance at her, visibly annoyed.
“Do you know why this meeting was arranged?”
“Of course I do. How could I not? Mrs. Han has been telling me for ages that we’d be a perfect match. She’s trying to set us up.”
“And you still came?”
“Yeah.”
Relaxing her posture, Jung Hae-jin sank deeper into the sofa, casually crossing her legs. Turning her head away, she gazed at the people coming in and out of the hotel.
“There are plenty of men in the world, but the ones my father approves of are few. The problem is, I don’t like any of them. This one expects too much from me, that one is scared of me and runs away.”
“So, you went abroad.”
Kang Se-heon, still looking at his phone, responded indifferently. Since he already knew why Jung Hae-jin had left the country, he hadn’t reacted much when Han Mi-sun pulled her into this scheme.
“And what did that change? Even from overseas, I kept getting updates on potential marriage candidates. Eventually, I figured it would be easier to just settle on a decent match and get it over with. And the best option is you.”
“You’re using me as a shield?”
At Kang Se-heon’s wry smirk, Jung Hae-jin burst into laughter.
“I already know your personality, you’ve got the right background, and you don’t expect anything from me. Plus, you’re not the type to fall in love with anyone, so I figured you wouldn’t reject my offer if I hinted at my interest.”
“Shameless.”
“So what about you?”
Jung Hae-jin leaned forward slightly, resting her elbow on her knee and propping her chin on her hand. From an outsider’s perspective, it ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) looked like she was genuinely interested in him.
When no response came, she pressed further.
“How do I look as a potential partner?”
Only then did Kang Se-heon lift his gaze.
He was just about to respond when an all-too-familiar face appeared in front of him.
Not only did Tae-seo appear before Kang Se-heon, but he also went so far as to sit right next to Jung Hae-jin. The sheer boldness of his intrusion left her too stunned to react in time to push him away.
Sliding into the conversation with perfect ease, Tae-seo locked eyes with Kang Se-heon and gave a slight nod.
“So this is how it feels when I’m with Mirae.”
