Chapter 53 - 052: Shi Wei, can you help me get it?

"I do think he is a bit strange, but we can't jump to any conclusions yet." Xu Linchuan leaned against the sofa with a cup in hand, recounting everything they had just discovered at Yang Bin's place.

He tiredly pinched the bridge of his nose, his gaze falling on Yu Zhi who was sitting on the carpet, "Do you have a new place to go?"

This sort of question seemed to have been asked several times ever since they discovered she lived in the same building as the deceased.

Yu Zhi looked at Shi Wei for a moment, then nodded with slight hesitation, "I do."

"That's good, don't come back here for a while." Xu Linchuan breathed a sigh of relief.

"Okay." Yu Zhi lowered her eyes slightly, gazing at the computer in front of her, lost in thought.

After chatting for a while longer, Xu Linchuan prepared to leave first and head back to the bureau, with Jin Yunzhi following since it was on the way.

The room gradually quieted down, leaving the only two of them sitting in silence.

Yu Zhi closed the stock market page on her computer desktop, fingers poised above the keyboard, hesitating for a moment before continuing.

After pondering for a long time, she pressed her lips tightly and said softly, "Do you know everything?"

"Hmm?"

"When in Lanting Square..."

"Do you want me to know or not?" Shi Wei watched her profile, a faint smile hidden in his eyes.

Nervous, Yu Zhi lowered her gaze, not turning to look at him, "Can you keep it a secret for me?"

Shi Wei's lips curled slightly, not agreeing immediately, but instead, he started to probe her, "Do you have a grudge against Meng Zheng?"

He only knew that Meng Zheng was coming for her, but he hadn't figured out the specifics.

After all, Meng Zheng was dressed in nothing he found tasteful; the Prince of Divine Thief likely wouldn't be impressed either.

"No grudge."

Yu Zhi turned slightly, placing her hands on her knees, looking inexplicably obedient.

She tilted her head up and asked him, "If I tell you, can you keep it a secret?"

"I can." Shi Wei leaned slightly forward, closing the distance between them, a subtle gentle look in his deep eyes.

Yu Zhi did not hide anything, "Actually, I didn't do anything other than pluck a strand of his hair."

Her honesty brought a wave of joy to Shi Wei's heart, and he couldn't help but reach out, brushing her soft, silky black hair, "Can you tell me why?"

Yu Zhi didn't shy away from his touch, but the tips of her ears flushed a pink hue, "A friend wanted it."

Shi Wei raised an eyebrow, leaning forward to grasp her shoulders, pulling her closer to face him, "Look into my eyes."

Yu Zhi lifted her almond-shaped eyes, meeting his gaze as requested.

Shi Wei spoke earnestly, "No matter what happens in the future, tell me first, don't act alone again, okay?"

Yu Zhi's eyelashes trembled, her hands on her knees clutching her clothes, "Got it."

She murmured softly, feeling her strong heartbeat, as if understanding something.

"Good girl." Shi Wei patted her head, a gentle smile like a spring breeze on his handsome face.

Yu Zhi's face flushed instantaneously, like a sweet and juicy peach hanging on a small tree in June, tempting to pick.

Shi Wei didn't tease her further, he withdrew his hand, "Pack up, come home with me."

"Okay." Yu Zhi quickly got up from the carpet, hurriedly going around the sofa into the bedroom behind.

She leaned against the white wall, covering her chest to feel the intense heartbeat, her brows furrowed tightly as if she could squash a fly.

Shi Wei waited quite a while in the living room before Yu Zhi emerged with a plastic bag from the supermarket that cost fifty cents.

He raised an eyebrow, "What did you pack in such a small bag?"

Yu Zhi opened it, counting earnestly in front of him, "A nightgown, a sweatshirt, jeans, and two sets of underwear."

At that, Shi Wei coughed twice, hurriedly averting his gaze, "You don't need to tell me everything."

Yu Zhi: "..."

She looked at him in confusion, her eyes asking 'weren't you the one who asked first?'

Shi Wei pretended not to see, taking the plastic bag from her and tying it tightly, fearing anything might show.

Once they stepped out the door, Shi Wei held her wrist, "It's too dark outside, be careful not to fall."

Yu Zhi looked at the corridor light overhead, "Is it dark?" She thought it was quite bright.

Shi Wei blatantly lied, "Dark."

Yu Zhi cooperatively responded, the warmth from his hand on her wrist spreading to her heart, making it hard to refuse.

**

Shi Family.

Shi Wei brought Yu Zhi to the bedroom directly opposite his master bedroom, wandering around for a circle.

Although it had been vacant for a long time, every time housekeeping came, it was cleaned, and all items were brand new, unused.

"Do you want to take a hot shower first?" Thinking of her tiring day, Shi Wei couldn't help but feel distressed.

He asked instinctively, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted them a little.

Shi Wei observed her expression closely, feeling relieved when she showed no aversion.

"Okay." Yu Zhi didn't think much, rummaging through the plastic bag for the nightgown and turning to enter the bathroom.

A few minutes later, the sound of running water started.

Shi Wei propped his chin with one hand, sitting on the sofa with a relaxed posture, yet feeling inexplicably nervous inside.

As the sound of the water grew clearer, Shi Wei seemed to be distracted, uncontrollably glancing over.

The bathroom had a large floor-to-ceiling frosted glass panel, from outside only a faint silhouette could be seen.

Each time the shadow raised a hand, tilted its head, or turned sideways, Shi Wei felt he could trace her stunning curves.

Thoughts filled with longing for her unexpectedly surged in his heart but were quickly chased away by his reason.

Shi Wei turned his head, cursing softly, tugging at his shirt collar and undoing three buttons to relax.

But before the restlessness subsided, a clear voice came from the bathroom, "Shi Wei, are you still there?"

Upon hearing, Shi Wei forgot everything else, quickly walking over, "What's wrong?"

Yu Zhi grasped the door handle, speaking in a soft voice, "Can you bring me..."

"Bring what?"

"Umm... underwear." Yu Zhi's face turned crimson as she said those words.

Her lashes fluttered chaotically, light brown eyes misted, like they were veiled with a thin fog.

Shi Wei froze for a moment, his voice turning hoarse instantly, "Wait for me."
