The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse-Chapter 414 - 347, It’s My Turn To Save You
Chapter 414: Chapter 347, It’s My Turn To Save You
If I were the one behind this,
the person would have just disappeared, not ended up in the association’s morgue, with a second chance to accuse me.
Both the Investigator and Assistant Moya began to record something on paper.
Imilo asked again, “Who do you think would do this?”
“It might be pirates, or it might be the accomplices of the fugitive I previously killed. Currently, I have no clues,” Wu Heng answered.
He had been contemplating this matter on the way.
Being on the pirates’ hit list myself, and the ‘Secret Cultivation Hall,’ once the scene of a fugitive’s murder, were both possibilities.
Who could claim they didn’t have enemies when working at the association?
Imilo glanced at the documents in his hand and spoke again, “Where were you last night?”
“At home!”
“Is there anyone who can testify for you?”
Last night, I returned from Zombie World quite late. Mini and Andre Willow had already gone to rest, and I was chatting with ‘Sha Naila’ on the rooftop, watching the night sky.
But, I couldn’t disclose anything about Sha Naila.
Being seen with ‘Sha Naila’ in the wee hours was a much graver matter than killing a fleet manager.
“My two maidservants can testify!”
“Testimony from family and maids tends to carry less weight. Do you have anyone else?”
“No, that’s all,” Wu Heng answered.
Their back-and-forth went on, with the Investigator taking notes in the background.
Once the questioning seemed sufficient,
Imilo looked toward the ‘Inspector Special Envoy’ and said, “It seems someone is deliberately framing him.”
Imilo still had a fair amount of trust in Wu Heng.
It wasn’t that he believed Wu Heng wouldn’t kill a trade fleet manager, but rather that he believed Wu Heng wasn’t foolish enough to kill someone and then have the body delivered to the association, letting a Wenshi trace the clues back to him.
Inspector Special Envoy Kalemah nodded and said, “Anyone capable of such planning must be someone close to Deputy Steward Wu Heng, or at least someone familiar with you.”
Imilo also nodded in agreement.
Kalemah continued, “But now, the evidence clearly points to you, and I can’t turn a blind eye as I’m inspecting Gold and Silver Island. You’ll be suspended and asked to go home and rest for a few days. Once we have evidence to confirm you’re not involved, you can return to your position. What do you think, Steward Imilo?”
Imilo, with his hands crossed on the table, pondered for a moment before asking, “Wu Heng, you okay with this?”
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“Then, take a few days off, and wait for Xi Ligui’s news.”
“Alright, I’ll head back now,” Wu Heng said.
After Imilo nodded, Wu Heng walked straight out of the study.
Wu Heng nodded and walked straight out of the study.
…
Passing through the corridor, he saw ‘Xi Ligui’ leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.
“What did they say?” Xi Ligui asked.
“Suspended for investigation, waiting for your results,” Wu Heng replied.
Xi Ligui looked directly at him, asking, “You didn’t kill anyone, did you?”
“Nonsense, have you ever seen me kill with a flying knife?”
“Hmm, I didn’t think it was you either,” Xi Ligui said as she flipped her hair. “Speaking of which, lately, it feels like a lot of things haven’t been going your way. It might be good to have a few days off.”
“What do you mean?” Wu Heng stood beside her.
Thinking for a moment, Xi Ligui said, “I can’t quite put my finger on it, just wait for my news. I will surely investigate and clear your name.”
“I’m counting on you for everything.”
“Don’t worry, this time it’s my turn to save you,” Xi Ligui affirmed.
“Great!”
Xi Ligui smiled, patted his shoulder lightly, “Well, I’m off to get busy. I’ll inform you of any intelligence.”
“Alright!”
…
Back in the study.
Andre Willow was sitting at the desk organizing documents, while the little owl chased bees around the room.
Upon seeing Wu Heng come in, Andre Willow smiled and asked, “Master, would you like something to drink?”
“No need, let’s pack up, we’re starting our vacation,” Wu Heng said directly.
Andre Willow, who was about to prepare tea, paused mid-motion and asked curiously, “What happened?”
Wu Heng briefly recounted the morning’s events to her.
He also told her they were now on vacation, waiting for results from ‘Xi Ligui’, before returning to their positions.
“How could they do this?” Andre Willow said, somewhat indignant.
Wu Heng just smiled, “It’s nothing serious. Pack up any valuables and important documents. We’re going to rest at home for these few days.”
Despite her indignation, Andre Willow, as an assistant, had little she could do.
She began to pack up their belongings and then set off to leave with him.
Employees greeted them along the way.
Probably by the afternoon, the notice of suspension would be sent out.
Then, the rest would learn of the situation.
…
At lunchtime.
Wu Heng recounted the morning’s events at the dining table once again.
Aside from Mini and Andre Willow, Shanaela was also seated on one side of the table.
After listening to Wu Heng’s account,
Mini angrily said, “Why should this happen? It’s obviously a frame-up. Is the association blind?”
Wu Heng replied, “It’s okay, a few days of rest isn’t bad. If I really quit, we could go back to Lundham City.”
“It’s not that serious. As a vice-executive of the association, you won’t be dismissed on false charges that easily. It doesn’t matter whether it was you or not. Just compensating with some money could make the issue go away,” Shanaela said bluntly.
She knew best whether or not this had anything to do with Wu Heng.
Last night, they had been wrapped up in each other. How could he have had the time to kill a manager of some common mercantile group?
Was a manager more attractive than her?
“Mm, I won’t go,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
Shanaela’s cheeks reddened, and she rolled her eyes at him.
After chatting for a bit, they began to eat.
Taking a vacation wasn’t really an issue. Recently, there had indeed been some matters to attend to in the Zombie World.
After lunch,
as soon as Wu Heng returned to his study, someone knocked on the door.
When he opened it, Shanaela, dressed in a gorgeous, form-fitting long dress, came straight in, threw herself into his arms, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
Wu Heng wrapped his arms around her waist, responding to the kiss while closing the door with his foot.
The two embraced for a long time.
Before they slowly parted.
“Feeling a bit better now?” Shanaela asked, still draped over his shoulder, her face flushed with embarrassment.
Hearing her words stirred some emotion in Wu Heng.
She had taken the initiative to comfort him, fearing he might be feeling down.
“I feel better in my heart, but my body is somewhat uncomfortable,” Wu Heng said as he sat down, pulling her to sit in his lap.
Sitting sideways on his leg, with one arm over his shoulder, Shanaela said, “Shall I get someone to help you out a bit? This issue shouldn’t be too hard to resolve.”
Wu Heng looked at her in surprise.
What kind of heavenly lover was this, even thinking of pulling strings for him?
“No need, I also want to rest for a few days and spend more time with you.”
“We are both quite busy. There’s not much to accompany,” Shanaela said, a little coyly.
Wu Heng pulled her to straddle him, leaning on his shoulder, “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Mm! One job less, you’re not the vice-executive anymore, but I can still support you,” she declared.
“What about before I reach level 15?”
“I’ll still keep you, let you be my manservant…”
“Madam, you’re a bit perverse!”
Wu Heng lifted her onto the desk.
Bowing his head slightly, he kissed her again.
Before long, Mini’s voice came from downstairs, “Sister Shanaela, are you done talking? Come outside and play.”
Shanaela turned her head, licked the moisture off her lips, swallowed, and shouted, “Coming soon!”
“Hurry up.”
“Okay!”

Shanaela looked back at him, stroking her cheek, “Level 15, huh? I’m waiting for you too!”
“It’s coming soon!”
Shanaela hopped off the desk, straightened her clothes, and walked straight out the door.
…
Shanaela went downstairs.
Wu Heng picked up the books that had fallen on the floor and placed them back on the desk.
He sat down in his chair again, dwelling on the day’s events.
Everything had happened so suddenly.
It left him somewhat unable to react.
“Being slandered sure doesn’t feel good.”
If someone else had blamed the incident on him, then they surely had a purpose.
“And it happened during an inspection. They wanted me dismissed. If that’s the case, their goal has been achieved,” he mused.
“If I were the person behind all this, what would I arrange to happen after my enemy’s dismissal?”
Wu Heng pinched his brow.
The dismissal was surely just the first step, and there would be other actions to follow.
Over the next few days, he would have to be even more cautious.
“Sigh~! My life really is like walking on thin ice.”
…
With these thoughts in his mind,
Glenda flew straight back through the roof of the house.
Hovering in mid-air, she said, “Not long after you left, that ‘Inspector Special Envoy’ left with his entourage and went to a tavern on Lighthouse Street.”
