The Murderous Diary of a Female Doctor-Chapter 24: Honey Moxibustion and licorice
Chapter 24
The operation was over. I changed into a white coat. There was still an hour before the outpatient clinic ended. Dr. Zhang, who was working with me today, was 4 months pregnant and could not be too tired.
Hu Li sent a WeChat message: "Let's have dinner tonight."
"No, just finished the operation, want to sleep early." I said.
I needed to go scout again tonight.
"No matter how tired, you have to go with me." The emoji Hu Li sent was puffy with anger.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"Let's talk about it when we meet. Come to my office after you get off work and wait for me."
Well, it would be fine to go scouting after dinner too, it would be better for digestion.
The Chinese Medicine Room was on the first floor. Because it was connected to the Medicinal Preparation Room, it occupied a wide area. There was also a small independent courtyard behind it.
The hospital had invested heavily in the Chinese Medicine Room. After all, our hospital's traditional Chinese medicine was famous both near and far, and the Chinese medicine was even more well-known. Every batch and production process was meticulously crafted.
I had just gotten to the door when the door opened from the inside. Hu Li pulled me in.
The day shift was off work now. There were only two people on duty in the Chinese Medicine Room. The Chinese Medicine Room had a strong fragrance of Chinese medicine, accompanied by the sweet smell of honey.
"I've felt stuffy these past two days, like I can't breathe, the smell of medicine is getting stronger and stronger, more and more unpleasant." Hu Li fanned her nose with her hand.
"Honey-fried licorice root, still okay, better than fried Aquilaria." I said.
Hu Li made a nauseous expression, "Finally off work. This is the life of the working class. I used to think I could tolerate it, but the past two days I feel it's really particularly unpleasant."
I took her wrist, the flow of qi was smooth, like beads on a string, like lotus bearing dew.
"You're pregnant!" I said.
Hu Li let out a strange cry, pinching my four fingers, "You felt my pulse!"
I nodded, "Should I get you a pregnancy test?"
I bought Hu Li a pregnancy test strip, and she sneaked off to the bathroom, telling me to wait for her in the Medicinal Preparation Room.
Just as I opened the door, Chief Li happened to open his office door at the same time, we looked at each other, and he smiled at me and nodded, "Here to find Hu Li?"
"Yeah."
"Are you going to the cafeteria for lunch tomorrow?" he asked.
"I am." I said.
"Then I'll bring you a taste of fried lamb with onions." He said it as if it were a given.
"Wouldn't that be too much trouble for sister-in-law?" I said hesitantly. Not to mention it might give people the wrong idea.
Chief Li laughed very happily, eyes curving, "Bao Zhu, I don't know if it would trouble your sister-in-law, first, I cooked the dish myself," he looked at me, smiling before he spoke, "Second, I'm unmarried."
I...
"Bao Zhu," Hu Li shouted as she ran over.
"Don't run, walk slowly." I hurried to meet her.
Hu Li secretly handed it to me, "Help me see if this is accurate?"
One dark and one light, two lines, heralding the arrival of new life.
"Congratulations, congratulations." I said with a smile.
"That's great!" Hu Li cheered and jumped up, I pulled her back.
"Don't jump around, you have to be careful from now on."
I heard Chief Li speak behind me, but I didn't hear clearly. Hu Li happily said to him, "Chief, I won't be able to work night shifts with you anymore."
The sister working the night shift joked, "It's okay, rain or shine, I'll be here on night shifts to accompany you, I'm the chief's loyal fan."
Everyone laughed.
"Shouldn't you tell Cheng Peng first?" Chief Li reminded her.
Hu Li slapped her forehead, "Oh right, I forgot about him. What do you think, will he cry or laugh?"
"He might run away." The sister joked.
Hu Li went to make a phone call. We'd know tomorrow when Hu Li came to work whether it was crying or laughing on the other end of the phone.
Looks like she wouldn't need me to accompany her tonight, I could go ahead with my own plans.
