The Monster King's Legacy-Chapter 110: Brighter Hope
As Lance’s words hung in the air, a massive roar shattered the tension. The dragon unfurled its wings. It rose into the air, its voice echoing in their minds.
"You have nothing to fear. I, Aelyndra, will stand with you. Together, we will show these Demons who is prey."
Her roar rippled through the camp, shaking the ground beneath them. Cheers erupted from the soldiers, their voices rising in defiance of the darkness that surrounded them. The sight of the dragon alone had brought an even brighter ray of hope to the gathered army.
There was no need to explain the intricacies of everything to the masses, not this time at least, this situation was peculiar and left them no time. These demons had not exactly surrounded them intentionally, they were just in the way, and so would get trampled. Either way, they were going to protect and fight for their safety.
Lance raised his sword, its edge gleaming faintly as he spoke. "Today, we fight not as separate races, but as one! We hold this camp not just for survival, but to send a message, no matter how great the darkness, we will never bow!"
The cheers grew louder, filling the air with an electric energy.
Turning to his closest allies, Lance’s voice softened but carried the same intensity. "Rynne, you’ll lead the frontlines. Hold them back and keep morale high."
Rynne grinned, her golden eyes blazing. "I’ll make them regret stepping foot near us."
"Zarra, you know what to do." Lance said.

Zarra nodded, leaving with Rikka. Somehow, Rikka seemed to move more with Zarra than with Rynne. "Leave it to me, Chief."
"Mira, Lia," Lance said, turning to them both, "your work is the heart of this battle. Keep everyone alive, and don’t stop until we’ve won."
Mira’s green eyes filled with quiet strength. "We won’t let you down."
Lia placed a hand over her heart, her golden eyes glowing faintly. "We are ready."
Lance nodded, "you know what to do, Lia."
"Ruzak…"
Ruzak snarled, his fangs handing in the open as his massive frame stepped to Lance’s side. "Of course."
They both walked to the battlements, where Aelyndra landed beside them, her massive form towering over everything.
"You’ve done well, Lance," she communicated with him in his mind. "They believe in you."
"That won’t be enough to win this fight. We hope that you won’t disappear this time too," Lance replied, his eyes fixed on the approaching enemy. He wanted to question the dragon of where it had been since, but he didn’t exactly have the guts to. Plus, he already senses something was off with its words ever since he met it, so he never fully put his faith in it.
"O=of course, I won’t. That… was due to an important event," Aelyndra assured him.
As the first wave of demons surged toward the camp, a battle cry erupted from the defenders, a sound that echoed across the battlefield, enough to send shivers through the enemy ranks, if they were normal sane enemies that is.
...
The air trembled with the force of the demon army’s onslaught. Their numbers seemed infinite, a dark tide battering the walls of the goblin stronghold. Each roar, each clash of steel and claws, was a reminder of the stakes. Despite their unity, the defenders were being worn down.
From the highest tower, Lance watched the chaos unfold below. His eyes burning with determination as he turned to Ruzak.
"It’s time," Lance said, his voice steady. "I’ve spotted quite a number of leading units."
Without anymore caution or wasting of their time, Lance and Ruzak leapt from the top of the tower directly unto the earth below, rushing through the enemy ranks while ignoring the weaker foes, heading straight for the more powerful ones.
At the same time, the dragon launched itself into the sky with a single, powerful beat of its wings. The force of her ascent sent dust and debris swirling across the battlefield, and every head, friend and foe alike, turned upward to witness its majesty.
The demons hesitated, their advance faltering as the dragon soared above them. Its roar tore through the air, a sound so fierce it seemed to shake the very heavens.
Somehow, even these mindless demons and beasts seemed to be halted in place, as the dragon’s presence was so overwhelming, it caused fear to creep into them.
The dragon’s mouth opened, and a torrent of golden flames erupted, cascading down onto the battlefield. The fire swept through the demon ranks, its heat so intense that it didn’t just burn but melted flesh and even burned some bones to ash. The demons, in their hundreds were incinerated in seconds, their screams drowned out by the roar of the flames, unable to even shout out their pains and sufferings, no matter how brief it lasted.
The dragon’s breath carved a burning path through the horde of demons, creating chaos and confusion. Demons scrambled to escape the inferno, their once cluster focused assault reduced to a desperate retreat for many.
The defenders, the warriors of the alliance seized the opportunity.
"Now’s our chance!" Rynne shouted, leading the goblin warriors in a countercharge. The allied forces surged forward, inspired by the dragon’s display of power.
Lance and Ruzak didn’t falter even for a moment, and though they too stared upon the spectacle the dragon created, it was only for a brief moment as they continuously sliced demons that got in their way.
Amid the chaos, two obviously more powerful demons advanced. The first, a massive creature wreathed in black fire, unleashed a torrent of flames that engulfed entire units, and the second, a towering beast covered in spiked armor that charged through the battlefield, crushing anything in its path.
Lance and Ruzak fixed their gazes on these two, as they were the closest they needed to target.
With a roar, Ruzak dove toward the armored beast, his claws extended. The impact shook the ground as his claws tore through the demon’s thick hide. The beast roared in pain, swiping at the him with its massive arms, but Ruzak was not all strength and no speed.

He vaulted into the air, avoiding the beast’s attacks, then spun in a tight arc and struck again.
The second general, cloaked in black fire, attempted to blindside Ruzak, launching a wave of searing flames, but Lance countered with a trick of his own, using a fallen demon to shield himself.
Following a deep breath in and out to prepare himself, Lance lunged at the fiery general, ignoring any damage that might have be done to his own body walking into black flames of unknown property.
