The Mob Character Who Woke Up!-Chapter 73: Plans for a better future! (3)
’SpreadedCheekz, whoever you are in real life, I solemnly swear in the name of all the gods both major and minor, I will personally send those cheeks of yours to the infirmary towards the kind Nurse Jenny.’
’I heard she does absolutely weird experiments on students in the basement, so be mentally prepared to be dissected like a frog in biology class.’
Kaizen once again solemnly swore those dramatic words inside his head. This entire situation was getting absolutely ridiculous but more importantly, who even was this person? Who does this kind of thing? Who has the time and energy for writing this shit?
His lips twitched once more as he looked at the cursed third trending tag. His hands were literally trembling with morbid curiosity, desperately wanting to just click on it.
’No! I absolutely do not want to wash my eyes with holy water once again! I do not want to lose another precious piece of my innocence once more!’
Kaizen knew deep in his soul that if he read even one more Chapter, he would emerge from the experience as a completely new man, fundamentally changed on a molecular level.
’I should seriously form an anti BL club in this academy, after all there are all sorts of weird clubs operating here.’
’It is only natural for a club that is desperately high time needed, especially for a topic that actively plays with the innocence of poor unsuspecting students!’
Resolving his trembling heart, he finally touched the first trending headline with his finger. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
#1. Heavenly Kings and their destiny.
The most anticipated list for the Zenith academy is finally here! The four Heavenly Kings finally chose what stream they selected and what legendary path they are about to walk. There is even a surprise...
Kaizen just skimmed through the useless yapping of the overly enthusiastic author and scrolled down aggressively to the actual list.
It was only four names for god’s sake, why did this guy have to write a five page essay introduction for that!
Weirdo.
Leo Crimson - Pyromancy
Lance Wind - Pyromancy
Klaus Silver - Runesmith
Cedric Alexander - Electromancy
Reading the names and their chosen departments carefully, Kaizen could not help but frown at the list.
Three of them were exactly what he had predicted they would choose, well apart from one surprise.
He knew Klaus would obviously choose Rune magic since demons loved that shit, and Cedric would naturally choose Electromancy since he literally wielded a C grade lightning spear and choosing this stream would only massively enhance that existing power of his.
But Lance! Lance Wind gave him a genuine shock.
’What the hell is up with their family?’
’First there was the S class Pyromancy professor Seris Wind, and now another member of the prestigious Wind family is choosing Pyromancy instead! What is going on with their family dynamics?’
He had been fully expecting Lance to stick with Aeromancy since these Wind family people were generationally proficient in that specific field of magic. Their bloodline apparently had some sort of deep connection with Aeromancy through generations.
And if anyone with even half a brain would logically choose that stream since they could quickly grasp the fundamentals of that stream of magic and become stronger pretty fast.
’Man, if I had some secret bloodline with natural affinity with any stream, I would have obviously chosen that stream without hesitation.’
’Fuck this Axiomancy bullshit! I would have become stronger way more quickly that way.’
Sigh.
No matter, he was just a background character who did not even know his own family situation, let alone possess a secret bloodline. So he could only stick with Axiomancy and desperately rely on his trusty rusty pan to somehow become stronger.
He could theoretically also become proficient in Axiomancy and slowly get more ability points and rank up gradually, but the problem was that it was Axiomancy! Even if he somehow became proficient, until he reached S rank, he was not going to get remotely powerful with it.
’At least I genuinely hope I can eventually get to D rank and unlock some neat unique ability!’
Kaizen hopefully looked at the second trending list and read through the important names first. The list was thankfully sorted out based on current power ranks, so the people he was specifically looking for were already conveniently at the top of the list.
Rina Valentina - Aeromancy
Hilda Guard - Geomancy
Gad Buster - Artificer
Those were the exact names he wanted to look up for future avoidance purposes. He thought about it for some time.
Princess Rina Valentina technically did not have to choose Aeromancy at all, in fact she did not need to choose any orthodox magic stream whatsoever. For one thing, she was already a summoner, and for another thing...
’I am pretty sure her royal bloodline must have some hidden Bloodline magic passed down through generations, but then she went ahead and chose Aeromancy on top of all that too.’
’What an absolute overkill! Well, when you are from a royal elven bloodline combined with rare genius level talent, one can chose whatever they want and become as powerful as possible.’
Kaizen thought about it for a second longer and came to the conclusion that she desperately wanted to quickly catch up to the stupid humans as soon as possible.
As an elf, specifically a proud high elf, and an incredible racist who hated humans, she must have felt deeply humiliated that the top four positions of the first year were completely occupied by some stupid humans.
Kaizen laughed out loud and shook his head.
’Sorry princess, you are not reaching the top any time soon.’
’After all, even if you are technically a main character, you are competing directly against the main main characters. Each one of them is narratively more important than you are.’
Kaizen nodded his head in satisfaction. The other two selections were well within his predictions.
The dwarf Gad Buster would always choose Artificer since, well, that was the racial stereotype for dwarves. And the half orc Hilda Guard was, well, what was stronger in pure brute power than earth magic?
Absolutely nothing. So obviously the brute, unruly, barbarian race chose Geomancy.
After spending some more peaceful time sitting in the park, Kaizen slowly walked back to the cafeteria, ate his free dinner of questionable gray slop, and returned to his room.
Klaus was as usual sitting at his desk reading forbidden texts and scribbling notes, so Kaizen said some polite pleasantries and casually mentioned that he had some mild residual stomach ache from the evening and was going to sleep quickly and please not to bother him.
But what Klaus said next made Kaizen’s soul immediately get ready to violently leave his body once more.
"Do not worry at all, human, you will sleep peacefully as a corpse tonight. Ha ha ha."
Who the hell would not have their soul ready to abandon ship hearing those exact words from a literal demon?
Kaizen was completely stunned and had his mouth hanging wide open while staring at the back of the demon, trying to process those horrifying words.
He quickly retrieved his precious Sun Spirit Stone from his bag and clutched it tightly in his trembling hand, then climbed into bed and slept with one eye literally open.
For some mysterious reason, he did not actually feel the dead rat corpse underneath his bedsheet at all, or else he absolutely would have thought Klaus was doing some demonic necromancy shit to transform him into a living corpse or something equally horrifying and immediately ran away screaming from the dorm room.
Instead, Kaizen just lay there clutching his stone, staring at Klaus’s back, wondering if this was how he would die.
Meanwhile Klaus was humming happily at his desk, completely satisfied with his generous gift.
"Humans are so easy to please," Klaus muttered while flipping through his grimoire. "Just a dead rat and they sleep like corpses. How simple."
Kaizen’s eye twitched.
He was going to die tonight, he was absolutely certain of it.
