Chapter 3058: Awakening Sages

While the immortal sages of human civilization gathered to discuss a variety of important matters and the agenda of expanding their ranks, an important development took place in the Kandrian Empire.

"Ugh..." Sage Shinken woke with a groggy groan as he found himself staring at a pure white ceiling.

He slowly got up, throwing a sweeping glance around the room with squinted eyes as a hint of surprise came upon him to find his fellow Sekigaharan Martial Sages also slowly getting up, one by one.

The room they were in was clearly medical.

It was a pure white while the sterilized air reeked of rubbing alcohol.

"Where the hell are we?" he muttered with a flummoxed expression.

They weren’t the only ones who had begun getting up from their long slumber.

The many other Martial Sages of human civilization also began awakened from their recovery from the abuse of their Realms of Power, leaving them deeply confused about where they were and what had happened.

Their last memory was exiting the battle against the eldritch chimera once their staminas were depleted, only to wake up to find themselves in medical rooms god knew where. Naturally, the Emperor of Harmony had already prepared for this eventuality.

VMMM!

The doors to the medical facilities holding them opened as doctors and a Martial Master entered the medical room, his Martial Attire reflecting a crest of not just the Martial Union but also the coat of arms of the Kandrian Empire.

"Your Sagehoods," the Martial Master gracefully addressed them while the medical staff quickly got to monitoring their conditions and conducting preliminary examinations. "I am Master Normin of the Martial Union, here to serve as a representative of the Kandrian Empire where you are currently located presently."

Sage Shinken and the other Sekigaharan Martial Sages frowned with a hint of confusion. "...we’re in the Kandrian Empire right now?"

"That’s correct, Your Sagehood," the Martial Master confirmed. "Currently, you are in the medical wing of the Kandrian Manifold, reserved exclusively for you. We have had to temporarily shut down training due to all medical resources being reserved for your use, but it is worth it to accelerate your recovery."

"We’re in the vaunted Kandrian manifold?" Sage Shinken glanced about the entire place, sweeping his senses. "Fascinating, it’s almost like we’re on a planetoid that serves as its own world that is isolated from the rest of the world within the manifold."

The Martial Master winced at those words. "Yes, well, it’s not something that human civilization is unfamiliar with in recent events."

"What does that mean?" Sage Shinken raised an eyebrow at the Kandrian Martial Master.

The Kandrian Martial Master heaved a deep sigh. "A lot. And I truly mean a lot has happened within the past twenty four hours, Your Sagehoods. I’m not even authorized to inform you of all the events that have happened since your departure to the Beast Domain. The Emperor of Harmony himself will brief all of you all at once once you have been diagnosed to have made a perfect recovery."

Naturally, this was hardly enough for the Martial Sages of human civilization.

"What the hell happened to the battle?" Sage Shinken gritted his teeth. "What about the eldritch chimera? That battle was a battle to decide the fate of human civilization. And last I recall..."

His eyes sharpened.

"We weren’t doing particularly well."

The truth, however, slapped him in the face.

"Your gallant bravery and indomitable battle spirit has led to human civilization’s victory, Your Sagehood," the Kandrian Martial Master informed him of the only truths that the Emperor of Harmony had authorized him with. "The eldritch chimera is dead and the Beast Incursion is over."

Sage Shinken simply fell back upon his bed with a stunned expression.

"It’s over...?"

A faint whisper escaped him.

"Just like that...?" he gazed deep at Kandrian Martial Master with a deep, almost desperate gaze. "Just like that, is it truly over?"

"Yes, Your Sagehood," the Kandrian Martial Masters confirmed. "The Beast Incursion is truly a thing of the past."

A weak laugh escaped Sage Shinken. "...I almost can’t believe it. That nightmare is finally over."

He heaved a deep sigh of relief and optimism. "I can’t wait to go back to the Sekigahara Confederate and back to the Shinken Clan."

The Kandrian Martial Master winced at those words.

"I can’t wait to live a tranquil and relaxing life in an age after the Beast Incursion."

The Kandrian Martial Master winced even harder.

"For now, Your Sagehood, let’s just get your medical check-ups done before we can proceed with the rest."

It was exactly what the medical teams working on them silently aimed to do.

Very rapidly the hundreds of Martial Sages of human civilization awakened, undergoing preliminary health check-ups by the medical teams of the Kandrian Empire to search of mental problems that could not be detected while their patients were still unconscious.

It was only after the mental check-ups were complete and the Martial Sages were confirmed to have made full recoveries that they were allowed to freshen up, bathe, and eat for the first time in a while in a large food hall with all of them alike.

The Kandrian Empire was generous with their luxurious preparations of the Martial Sages of human civilization. Giving them the finest of the finest for their first meal in a quite some time, preparing for them the best of the best.

It was time-consuming.

It was even time-wasting, some would argue.

However, the Emperor of Harmony understood that he needed them to enter a relaxed state of mind before he could shatter that peace. If he directly revealed the truth to them upon waking up in unclear states of mind, the probability of them reacting extremely adversely and potentially damaging the training manifold was high.

Additionally, they did deserve it.

They had spent the past eleven years living in shitty conditions in the Beast Domain fighting quasi-Transcendent beasts and monsters and successfully taking down the eldritch chimera to end the Beast Incursion and the Era of Darkness.

They deserved at least a few hours of peace before the true horrors of the true world were revealed to them.
