The Lustful Villain: Every Milfs and Gilfs are Mine!-Chapter 90. I Was Busy Admiring the GILF Valentina, and Then Helena Just Sold Me Out
Rex held back his reaction to the system notification and tried to keep the right look of respectful interest on his face, even though right now, his mind was full of fucked-up things he could do to Valentina.
Furthermore, his foresight succeeded in identifying any potentially dangerous mind-reading or telepathy abilities in Valentina, and there’s none. If she has one, Rex knows he fucked up.
Valentina looked around the group, and there was nothing warm or grandmotherly about her look. It was the judgment of someone who was excellent at judging threats, assets, and everything else with ruthless efficiency.
When her eyes met Rex’s, he felt like she was really looking at him, like she was seeing a lot more than he was comfortable with.
’That look... a rather strong woman indeed, and it’s going to be even better if I can break that vision of hers.’
Then she lost interest, and her face softened a little as she looked at her grandchildren.
"Elliot... Diana... Lily..." Her voice was calm and formal, but there was a hint of real love behind the professional distance. "I’m glad to see you all made it back safely."
"Grandmother," Elliot said, moving forward to bow in a respectful way.
She nodded in response.
Diana and Lily both came over, and Valentina smiled a little when Lily broke the rules and hugged her directly. Valentina’s hand came up to stroke Lily’s hair in a way that showed this was their special relationship.
The hug was surprisingly warm.
"Oh my, Lily... You’ve grown so much." Valentina said softly, "But... I see you’re still as recklessly loving as ever."
"Hehehe~! I can’t help it when I miss you, Grandma!" Lily said as she pulled back but stayed close.
"I miss you too," Valentina said as she looked at Helena. "Daughter... your report?"
Helena stood up straight, and just like that, the family dynamic changed back to something more formal. "The Goblin King incident was handled well, with a few deaths of innocent civilians."
"The bandit raid caused some damage to the village but no deaths, and the demon attack on the road here was stopped without any losses."
"The civilian refugees have been moved safely and are now being processed to become one with Aethelgard."
Valentina nodded slowly, and it was clear that she was processing the information quickly. "And the person who helped win these battles?"
She looked at Rex again. "I guess this is the man who’s called Rex Rexilion?"
"Yes, Mother," Helena said. "He’s a reincarnator who came to the village about two weeks ago."
Rex was shocked to his bones when hearing Helena spill that out of the blue, and it almost gave him a heart attack. It’s because he was so focused on admiring Valentina that his foresight went off for a second.
’What the fuck...!? W-Why did she just snitch on me like that...!?’
’That fucking bitch...! Even with that high-level desire, she still cannot be trusted until I break her.’
And now that the truth has been spilled free, he didn’t have any choice but to admit it. But at least some reincarnators are valued.
"He’s one of those reincarnators that’s worthy to be living in this world because of how he has been very helpful in many fights and has saved lives more than once, including Elliot’s during the Goblin King fight."
Rex felt like everyone in the room was looking at him, especially Evelyn, who looked even more shocked knowing that there’s a reincarnator close by after all this time. He kept his face neutral and respectful, letting Valentina set the pace of the conversation.
She looked at him for a long time, and Rex got the strong impression that she was seeing a lot more than just how he looked. He couldn’t tell if it was magical perception, a lot of experience reading people, or a mix of the two.
"Helena has written to me about what you’ve done," Valentina said at last. "Stepping in front of what should have been a fatal blow to protect my grandson."
"And fighting with my family against impossible odds... showing both bravery and skill in situations that would break other people."
"Now that’s a positive quality of a reincarnator. I respected his decision to live his second life here, just like other reincarnators out there who used their second chance for something useful."
She stopped for a moment, and something that looked like approval crossed her face. "Such service deserves praise and fair pay."
"Uh, well." Rex tilted his head. "I did what anyone else would have done."
"No." Valentina said, "Most people would have run away or frozen."
"You acted quickly and put yourself in danger for people you hardly knew, and it’s enough to show the character of who you are, which is much more important than power."
She walked around her desk and went right up to Rex. He could see that her eyes were a deep violet, which was unusual and striking.
They had the kind of penetrating intelligence that made him very aware that underestimating her would be a deadly mistake.
Valentina went on, "As for my gratitude for helping my family, I am giving you full enrollment as an honorable student in the Grand Academy of Magical Arts and Combat, effective immediately."
"You will have access to all facilities, instruction from our best professors, and the tools you need to reach your full potential."
Rex was really surprised hearing that. That was a lot more than he had thought, and it was very important from a strategic perspective.
Just by getting into the Academy meant getting knowledge, training, and most importantly, being close to the concentration of reincarnators and possible targets he had seen before.
"I’m honored," Rex said, his voice full of sincerity because he was thrilled about this. "And with all my respect... I’ll accept with my respectful gratitude."
It was clear that Helena was thrilled seeing how respectful Rex is. "Isn’t that great, Rex?!"
"You’ll be able to learn real magical theory, improve your fighting skills, and maybe even learn to stop relying on luck so much."
She said the last part with a teasing smile, and Rex easily smiled back. If only she knew how little luck had to do with his successes.
Valentina said, "There is, however, a condition," and her voice became more serious. "You must attend the Apostles meeting I called for this weekend."
Rex kept his face carefully blank, even though his system immediately sent out alert protocols. "Apostles...?"
"Apostles are something that can be identified when a mortal is blessed by the gods," Valentina said. "Reincarnators and natives alike who have the favor of the gods and fight for their gods."
"The capital has been gathering them in preparation for what’s coming."
She went back to her desk and pointed to a map that was spread out on it and had different symbols and notes on it. "Mordecai Vrael, the demon lord you’ve already known in passing, is not working alone."
"He’s part of a larger network of infernal nobility that’s been infiltrating the mortal realm for the past two years..."
"The Demon Seed vials, the planned attacks on settlements and trade routes, and the assassination attempts on important people—all of it is part of a plan to destabilize the region."
She pointed to a few places on the map that were marked. "We’ve found at least four major demon strongholds within a hundred miles of Aethelgard."
"Each one is making and spreading the Demon Seed, corrupting the people there, and building armies of transformed berserkers."
"The capital’s defenses are strong, but not unbreakable. We need people who can work together at the highest level to take action."
Elliot leaned forward, and his face was serious. "That’s why you called the Apostles."
"Exactly." Valentina looked at all of them. "The gods have their own reasons for keeping demons out."
"Each Apostle has special powers given to them by their patron deity. If we work together, we have a much better chance of destroying the demon strongholds before they can launch a major attack."
Rex quickly understood this information. So, the "Apostle gathering" was a formal event put together by someone with Valentina’s power to get divine champions to work together against a demonic threat.
That made sense of why Theo and the demons talked about it so casually. It seems that some people knew about it, and it’s not a secret anymore.
What’s more secret-worthy is his true colors, and he really needs to protect that with all his life.
But then again, something feels off for Rex’s manipulative and critical-thinking mind. Why does he, of all people, need to attend the ’apostle gathering,’ even though he’s not one of the apostles from their perspective, other than him, who’s known as the apostle of Lust.
He wanted to ask that so badly, but it could lead to something horrible, so he just stayed silent about it and asked Helena later when he got the chance while also talking about his reincarnator identity that got spilled without his permission.
Diana asked, "How many apostles are there that have answered?"
"Fourteen confirmed so far," Valentina said. "Along with Theo, who is a Paladin-rank Shielder for the Goddess of Life."
"I expect six more to show up before the week is over, bringing our total to about twenty."
Twenty apostles. There were twenty champions of different gods all in one place.
For someone like Rex, that was either the best chance they could have or the worst situation they could be in. Most likely both at the same time.
"I understand," Rex said carefully. "I’ll be there and help in any way I can."
Valentina looked at him for a little longer before nodding. "Good..."
"Helena will provide you with the details, and the gathering will take place in three days, giving you ample time to adjust to the Academy."
She focused on the whole group again. "You’re all free to go."
"Helena, I need to talk to you about some administrative issues for a few minutes."
"The rest of you can do whatever you want in the city or take a break."
