The Lust Lord Librarian-Chapter 42: Great Success
The day had arrived when two masterpieces would enter the world of Boen.
In a small bookstore called ’Books and Bobs’, four hundred copies of the novel ’The Karamazov Siblings’, written by Adal Alexandrus, were hidden away in the storage, whilst another hundred of the novels were out on display, in front of novels written by much more successful authors.
With the funding from Leonard Everstone, making such a thing happen was easy.
At the same time that this novel was being promoted at the store, the Velvet Curtain Theatre was filling up with an audience larger than they had ever seen before.
They had run out of tickets and had to create a new batch for people who were willing to stand and watch the play.
The Velvet Curtain Theatre was never usually this busy. Today, it changed, as some of the richest and most popular young lords and ladies had come to see the new play.
Vincente Alonso, son of the trader in charge of dealings with the other human kingdoms.
Harry Bakers, son of the king’s council leader.
John Pearlington, son of one of the richest investors in the kingdom.
Odel Fairsword, son of the holy battalions’ War General.
Andrew Botsworth, son of the Head of Education within the Torn Kingdom.
And many more.
Each of these men had attended with equally important ladies. Some, because they were a couple, and others simply to improve their own statuses.
The showing was so large because word had spread of this play by none other than the Prince himself.
George Wellington had heard that the man named Adal had created this play himself, and and so he spoke the news to his friend. From there, the word spread like wildfire.
...
Adal sat backstage as the play went on.
There was no reason for him to be out near the front of the stage. His name was already on the play, so his talents would be known regardless.
As he sat there reading a novel, he also listened to the sounds of shock and awe from the crowd as his masterpiece unfolded.
They revelled in his masterful writing, and once it was done, they gave a standing applause. There was not a single person in the crowd who could deny the play’s brilliance.
He listened as Willow Collins proudly went onto the stage and gave credit to Adal Alexandrus, the man behind it all. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He heard the crowd demanding that he come out there, and take credit for what excellent work he had done. However, Adal was not a performer. He humbly stayed backstage and allowed the rest of the crew members to enjoy the praises.
Once all was done, the audience began to slowly filter from the theatre.
Crew members came backstage, flooding him with hugs, bows, and handshakes for what he had done for them.
Young Jake practically bowed so low that his head almost scraped the ground, and Willow looked at Adal as if she wanted him to strip her right there and then, and ravage her in front of everybody.
"Adal, you must come to our party!" Old man Brondel said with a smile, suddenly showing great respect for the librarian "I am hosting a get-together, and it would not be the same if you weren’t there. You are the reason for all this, after all."
The other crew members added their agreements.
Adal shook his hands humbly.
"Honestly, I would love to, but I am afraid I’m needed elsewhere at the moment. I have a novel releasing, you see, I must check on how it’s doing at the store."
Some of the members looked at Adal in shock, whilst others with awe. Some were aware of Adal’s novel releasing on the same day, but those who had not known were struck with great disbelief.
"You are telling me that you were writing a play and a novel at the same time?!" Brondel asked with wide eyes.
Adal laughed.
"Yes, haha, I am."
It is not as difficult as you would think, for a man with perfect memory.
"D-does that mean you will not be coming back here?" Jake asked, with a sad look in his eyes.
Suddenly, the smiles were wiped from the crew members’ faces. Adal spotted Willow on the sidelines, with the saddest look of them all.
Adal scratched his head and thought for a few moments.
"I guess... If I have enough time, I will help write another play. For now, you should all focus on performing this play for the next month, until the novelty wears off. I am sure there are hundreds of notes to be made here."
His response seemed to light a spark in their eyes.
Brondel clasped a wrinkled hand down on Adal’s shoulder.
"Yes, and you will receive a large amount of those notes, my friend."
The entire crew nodded in agreement that if anyone deserved the money, it was Adal.
...
With that said and done, Adal finally left the theatre.
Using the notes he had, he swiftly hired a carriage to take him to the bookstore where his novel was being sold.
The sun had not yet set, so the store would still be open. He hoped that he could question the store owner to ask him how the sales and response towards his book were going.
As he arrived on the street, he noticed that it was incredibly silent. This worried him, as on popular book release days, the stores were usually packed with readers.
However, upon closer look, Adal noticed something strange.
There was no sign of his books anywhere on display.
He rushed over to the door to find that the store had already closed for the day.
However, there was a sign placed upon it that read.
~Apologies for the inconvenience, the hit novel ’The Karamazov Siblings’, has sold out. Please be patient whilst we request new stock from the publisher.~
Adal rejoiced.
During his six years in Boen, this day was easily the greatest success he had experienced so far.
