THE LOST HEIRESS RETURNS AFTER DIVORCE-Chapter 145: Busted (part two)
"Adonis, we really have to see the doctor in a few minutes." Heather interrupted. Adonis wasnβt trying to remind Caius of anything true, he was baiting him. π³π«ππ²π ππ―ππ¨πππΉ.π°πΌπΊ
She always forgot how smart he is; despite being the devil himself.
"No, you donβt. Everythingβs thatβs been happening here doesnβt feel normal." Adonis said as he went closer.
Why is he acting like he knows something? Heβs only suspecting.
"What do you mean? Caius has to see a specialist for his knee." This wasnβt a lie, she did need to see a specialist for Caius leg, to discuss further what could be done for him to walk again.
But the lie is; the specialistβs appointment is only in a few days and not today.
"Stop playing the fool. I know you too well to know youβre not that naivΓ©."
"Adonis, if I knew what you were talking about, I wouldnβt ask you what you mean." Heather said as she walked closer to him, placing a hand gently on her forehead, indicating exhaustion. "Now, if you donβt mind. Go ahead and tell me what you mean."
"This is not a good look on you. It was funny when it was Lauren."
She laughed a small laugh. He didnβt know after all. "All because I asked what you mean?Gosh, you donβt even know what you mean."
(He looked at her like he might tear her apart.)
"If this is because you donβt want to sign over everything to me, just know this; I have my ways of always getting whatever I want."
"Youβre only talking like this because you want to inherit something thatβs not yours?" Heather scoffed. "Youβre an illegitimate and youβll always be an illegitimate. Now, stop whining and leave my house." She pointed at the entrance.
Adonis eyed her carefully. He knew something was up, but he didnβt know what. He was going to get his answers one way or another.
"Are you planning to leave or do you need me to ask someone show you out?" Heather threatened
And with a smile, he walked towards the entrance.
"Oh, and by the way," Heatherβs voice stopped him at the door. "Be ready to hand over the seat. Caius is resuming soon."
"In that condition?"
"Being a CEO isnβt the same as being a (mention a job that requires standing.). Is it?" She said with a grin.
Adonis looked like he might break something, but he smiled regardless and walked out.
Heather watched him from the garden until she made sure her front door was closed before exhaling.
She never in her life thought she would have the back bone to stand up to men like Adonis.
"This is Adonis?"
Heather sighed as she sat down besides him. "Yeah. Heβs the scumbag fighting you for the position."
Caius laughed a small laugh.
"Whatβs funny?" Heather asked.
"I donβt think I want violence."
"What?"
"If he wants the company he can just have it."
"Absolutely not."
Caius raised his brow. He couldnβt believe she just said this."So youβd rather fight with him?"
"Yes. I would rather fight and burn them if I have to. But Iβm not giving them anything."
She wasnβt even fighting hard for the company for Caius, it was mainly for herself. Caius being incharge meant she partakes in his 30 percentage of the company. Together their share is 30, but separately, itβs just 15.
If heβs no longer the CEO, his percentage is removed from hers and it goes to his familyβs 30 percentage. Meaning she can no longer have a joint percentage. Having anything less than 20 percentage meant larger firms and capable people can bid for it.
She could still keep it if she competes with others whoβd play dirty for some 15 percentage share. And she knew better cause being a celebrity wouldnβt favour that kind of tension.
She didnβt know who came up with this ridiculous deal, but it sure does sound like they hated their spouse.
"Violence isnβt the best way to go about things."
Heather frowned irritably. "I wish the other Caius was here." She walked to the entrance of the garden. "He wasnβt this weak person Iβm living with."
"And she how he ended up. Broken ribs, memory loss, damaged knee." He looked down at himself. "Iβve been thinking a lot about what you told me. All of this would have been avioded if I didnβt fight back. This is what happens when you fight back."
"Jesus, who even are you?" Heather said in disgust. "If people try to take whatβs yours, not fighting doesnβt save you. It makes them feel powerful. And everyone likes to feel that kind of power. They want to oppress and thatβs why they never stop."
"And the taking advantage? Letβs not even get into that." Heather added.
"I donβt know... I still think talking is better than violence."
Heather scoffed. She read online that people with memory loss acted different from who they previously were, but she didnβt expect Caius to behave so weakly.
It irritated her thinking about what he just said. He reminded her of she was; the naivΓ© person everyone could take advantage off.
And she wasnβt even saying he should fight, he just shouldnβt let Adonis silence him for his right. And if speaking up for yourself involves fighting, then yes, violence will be involved.
Heather didnβt bother engaging in the conversation again, she rose up. "Are you coming in or will you stay here?"
"Iβll stay here. I like the peace and quiet."
Heather rolled her eyes at that. He just sat there sipping tea and admiring the plants. What a joke.
She couldnβt bare the sit of whatever was happening any longer, so she went inside.

"Whatβs the way forward for the family?" Mr. Lionel sipped from his whiskey glass. This was the second bottle he was finishing. Whenever he was stressed, he just couldnβt help but drink away his problem.
During this time, he got violent and he hated himself afterwards.
"S-sir, disowning Lauren publicly didnβt help the situation as well as we thought it would. I think itβs best if you took the advice from Mrs Thorne and sell the shares." The timid man adjusted his glasses. He was the best lawyer in the country, but even he couldnβt save Lionel Remington from the public mess. Besides, the company is an entertainment one. Meaning it is built in being open.
