Chapter 1889: Chapter 1885: Using Gu as a Message

Approximately three two-hour periods later, Shen Luo and his group finally arrived at the valley floor. Contrary to their imagined arrival at their destination, this canyon bottom clearly wasn’t the end of their journey.

Even so, the solid ground beneath their feet felt much better than their previous slow descent impacted by the repulsive power of space.

Shen Luo took out the Space Talisman from his sleeve, its light still flickering, guiding their direction.

Following the direction indicated by the Space Talisman for a while, they were surprised to find an artificially constructed winding mountain road stretching into the dense fog ahead.

"Strange, why is there a man-made road here?" Nie Caizhu remarked, puzzled.

"It’s not unusual; this entire area could have been swallowed by the Beiming Kun. Seeing structures like pavilions and buildings is nothing to be surprised about. It’s just that the space here is rather chaotic. Just now, we were falling in the canyon, and now it suddenly seems like we’ve arrived in the mountains. It’s really confusing," Shen Luo shook his head and said.

"Space within the Beiming Kun’s stomach cannot be normal," Ao Hong added with a smile.

A moment later, a fork in the road suddenly appeared before them, with two winding paths extending left and right, vanishing into the fog, unknown where they might lead.

"So... which way should we go?" Mirror Fiend asked with a frown.

Hearing this, Shen Luo took out the Space Talisman and held it in front of him. He saw the light flickering on it, but it didn’t incline to either side, only roughly indicating a forward direction, leaving them unable to decide.

"Why don’t we split up?" someone suddenly suggested as Shen Luo hesitated.

Looking in the direction of the voice, Shen Luo discovered that it was Ao Hong who spoke.

"If we can’t determine which side to take, splitting up would be most efficient," Ao Hong added.

Originally wanting to dissuade, Shen Luo hesitated after hearing that.

"Our strength is indeed not as good as the Demon Clan and the Demon Alliance. If we split up and encounter them, a solitary party would have difficulty defending," Nie Caizhu expressed concern.

"Miss Nie need not worry excessively about this. The Demon Clan and Demon Alliance, like others, were scattered and transported upon entering this area; otherwise, we wouldn’t have encountered that part of the Demon Alliance earlier," Ao Hong said.

"True. Moreover, with the roads diverging here, we need to split up, and if they encounter it too, the chance of meeting their large group is not high," Tear Demon also chimed in.

"You agree to split up?" Shen Luo raised an eyebrow and asked.

"This way, it’s more efficient. As long as we leave a means to stay in touch with each other," Tear Demon nodded.

"In this fog, I’m afraid there’s no good method available," Shen Luo hesitated and said.

After a moment of silence, Yuan Qiu suddenly spoke, "I do have a method that might be worth trying..."

"Spill it," Ao Hong frowned and urged.

"Use my Gu insects."

Without waiting for others to ask, Yuan Qiu explained, "Although my Gu insects have limited detecting range, they can sense each other. By placing one Gu insect every hundred feet as intermediaries, the sensing range can be extended."

"This could indeed work," Shen Luo nodded.

"Friend Shen can carry a Gu insect with him. Then we’ll split up, and I’ll release a Gu insect at intervals as a bridge, maintaining contact between us. If something happens on your end, whether an enemy attack or a discovery, just crush that Gu insect, and we’ll head over immediately upon receiving the message," Yuan Qiu said.

"But what if something happens on your end? Even if the Gu insect dies on your side, I cannot detect it," Shen Luo wondered aloud.

"That’s simple too. If there’s a situation on our side, I’ll command the Gu insect to attack you, so you’ll know there’s a problem," Yuan Qiu said.

Hearing this, Shen Luo was pleasantly surprised by Yuan Qiu’s clever idea, though he still harbored some unease.

"Then for splitting up, how do we divide it?" Shen Luo asked.

"Brother Shen, you lead one group along the left path, and I’ll take another on the right," Ao Hong suggested.

"Sure, what about the rest?" Shen Luo nodded and agreed.

Having Shen Luo and Ao Hong, both Taiyi Cultivators, lead the groups was indeed suitable. Even if they encountered people from the Demon Alliance, they wouldn’t be completely defenseless.

Nie Caizhu didn’t speak, standing behind Shen Luo, while Mirror Fiend, Tear Demon, and Yuan Qiu unexpectedly stood behind Ao Hong.

"You’re all going with Daoist friend Ao Hong?" Shen Luo was surprised.

Mirror Fiend, Tear Demon, and Yuan Qiu looked at each other, momentarily bemused.

"Why are you looking at me? The two of us can’t be separated, you go over," Mirror Fiend glanced at Yuan Qiu and said.

Yuan Qiu was taken aback again, looking at Mirror Fiend like he was a fool.

Mirror Fiend, still unaware, smiled foolishly at Tear Demon, a look of determination on her face.

"You go..." Tear Demon said, looking at Mirror Fiend.

"What?" Mirror Fiend widened her eyes in surprise.

"Are you a fool? If Yuan Qiu goes with Friend Shen, how will we use the Gu insects to stay in touch?" Tear Demon said, exasperated.

Mirror Fiend suddenly understood and, seeing Shen Luo and the others, realized it was impossible to separate them. She silently walked over to Shen Luo’s side.

But upon second thought, with two Taiyi Cultivators on her side, it felt noticeably safer, and her mood improved. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

With the teams divided, Yuan Qiu casually waved his hand, sending a Gu insect to Shen Luo. They then parted ways, each heading down the left or right path.

On the mountain road wrapped in fog, Ao Hong’s party headed right. After walking for about a hundred feet, Yuan Qiu, following behind Ao Hong and Tear Demon, made no move, contrary to their agreement, didn’t release the Gu insect.

As for Ao Hong and Tear Demon in front, they weren’t aware at all, nor did they say anything.

About half an hour later, having no idea how far away they were from Shen Luo and his group, the three reached a Rest Pavilion on a mountain and finally stopped.

"This should be far enough," Tear Demon suddenly spoke.

Upon hearing this, Yuan Qiu’s figure froze, his expression first blank, then quickly restored, though his eyes rapidly filled with confusion.

"What happened? Where is this place? Where are Friend Shen and the others?" Yuan Qiu asked, as if awakening from a dream, suddenly unsure of his whereabouts.

Tear Demon glanced at him, offering no response.

Meanwhile, Ao Hong’s expression similarly turned blank for a moment, but only briefly. Then in his eyes two deep vortexes appeared, and after a flicker of light, his pupils transformed into a deep gold.

What changed next was his gaze, becoming deep and sharp, exuding a sovereign aura with a hint of menace, almost tangible as it surged forth.
