The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 291 - 35: The Lord (3)
Chapter 291: Chapter 35: The Lord (3)
So, another two days passed.
Jones was still busy, working his tail off all day long and getting along well with the dwarves.
"I’ve hardly seen a Blood Clan member do any work. At most, they’re supervisors, never getting their hands dirty. You’re the only one I’ve seen actually doing the work yourself."
"That’s because they aren’t broke enough yet. If they were all on the brink of bankruptcy like me, I guarantee they’d be the hardest workers around."
"Maybe. But honestly, I think they’d rather starve than work like you. Hahaha."
The barrel hugged Jones’s shoulder and laughed heartily, and the surrounding dwarves laughed as well. Jones sighed helplessly but laughed too.
The amount of work he did these days probably surpassed all he had done before combined.
Grime, sweat odor, and dust covering his face, but there was laughter.
*Actually, there’s nothing bad about this, right? One step at a time. Except, I was becoming less and less like a member of the Blood Clan.*
The Blood Clan didn’t want to work because they considered themselves nobles who didn’t take pride in labor, especially since they couldn’t function for half the day. Only an outlier like Jones, teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, would do this.
*If other Blood Clan members saw Jones like this, they’d probably laugh at him. But Jones didn’t care. He just wanted money now and to prove himself as a great lord.*
He was willing to take on any job, as long as he was needed. If he didn’t know how to do it, he’d learn.
You had to admit that in a group, the leader’s role was huge. When the leader was so hardworking, his subordinates wouldn’t slack off either.
Giant Snake City was in such a state, starting everything from scratch, but everyone was giving their all, striving for a common future.
"Have the samples taken from Hilde all been sent over?"
"Yeah, they’ve been sent over. They need some time to assess them. After all, these are military items; no one dares to slack off."
"Did they say how long it’ll take to get results?"
"They asked Dora to go back tomorrow night."
"Tomorrow? That’s pretty quick."
"There’s one more thing..."
"What is it?"
Dora hesitated, mumbling, "Lord Jones, you have a visitor."
"A visitor?"
...
As he stepped into the castle, Jones suddenly noticed that Bruto was standing in the hall.
Yes, the so-called "visitor" was Bruto.
A skeleton frame, dressed in a white, crisp priest’s robe and a hat with a gold-trimmed band. He also held a scepter. Two badges adorned his chest, one from the Silver Moon Knight Order and the other, a cross-skull badge. The skull was at the top left of the cross, while a silver moon was at the bottom right. Cross and gold-trimmed skull totems covered his collar and cuffs.
It had to be said that the White Bone Holy Light Court’s outfits and totems were very stylish, much more attractive than the original court’s. If only it didn’t look so eerie on a skeleton.
At this moment, Bruto was standing with his back to Jones, facing the Hydra. Next to him was a large burlap sack.
Jones broke into a cold sweat, *"They better not start a fight."*
Jones cautiously crept closer, inch by inch.
"This beautiful lady, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"
"Of course, you may. My name is Ophelia. To be honest, you’re the first to ask my name."
"Oh, really? Jones never asked?"
"No. After all, a name is just a symbol. Maybe he thinks ’Hydra’ is enough to represent me. I’m the only Hydra here, anyway."
"No, no, no. Lady, you are mistaken. Such a beautiful Hydra like yourself should never be equated with other Hydras."
"Really?"
"Of course, it’s true. You’re the most beautiful Hydra I’ve ever seen. I can’t help but want to stay here, just to see you every day."
"Oh, really? Hahaha. I also hope you can stay."
"Unfortunately, I still have a great mission to complete."
"What mission?"
"To conquer the Dragon Clan. I will bring the gemstone from the Dragon King’s crown back for you."
"I really like you. Are all Liches as charming as you?" The Hydra laughed so hard that her "flower branches quivered," if that even applied.
"By the way, I happened to have another important task to accomplish. Hmm... what was it again? Oh, ’To be faithful unto death.’"
"And what is that?"
"It’s a really important task; it concerns my knightly spirit."
"Oh, really? How does one complete that?"
"You see, I’m not entirely sure. I think we can explore it together."
"Alright, seems like my worries were unnecessary." Jones tiptoed, wanting to walk back, not to interrupt the "mood" of the two.
However, the Hydra Ophelia had already noticed him. Soon, Bruto followed her gaze and noticed Jones too.
"Hey, Jones!"
Jones was so scared he stopped in his tracks, turned around awkwardly, and forced a smile, "Hi, Bruto, long time no see."
Cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Wait, what did I come here to say to you? Oh yeah! It was you who complained to Gray, wasn’t it?"
"No, it wasn’t me!" Jones was so scared he turned and ran.
But Bruto had already raised his scepter. A burst of black magic instantly sprang out, wrapped around Jones’s feet, and dragged him back forcibly.
