The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers-Chapter 80: Ascension [1]
From the material you need for veils of ascension, to getting settled with Ascendant grade arcana. It all requires unbelievable amounts of effort, talent, and luck.
Don’t believe anyone who says effort is enough. If you’re lacking in any, you can’t imagine reaching Saint grade."
He was clearly talking from experience. I will be honest, from my experience, I thought Saint classes were just bigger cannon fodder. Well, not to cannon fodder degree but still, I never expected it to be that impressive since I met so many of them.
"Saints are respected as demigods in some regions," Suge said, glaring at me like he had read my thoughts, clearly taking some offence.
I raised both my hands and bowed.
After a light cough, Suge continued, "At the peak of B class and an average A class. It’s a very long and tough process to get to the peak of Saint class. Takes decades."
"For normal people at least." He added in a lighter tone.
"You already saw Alyndra. That’s overload. Some are classified at the peak of A class, some at S, some at the peak of S class, and some even at SS."
"Huh?" That was weird. It was even weirder than the ranking at Novice class.
"The strength can vary greatly from how much time a person had been an Overload, since it’s a very long process."
At my confused look, he added, "Of course, lifespan increases by a lot at this level. It increases at every class, but now, you can’t guess anyone’s age. They might just be in their hundreds."
My eyes widened, so if we go by that logic, my lifespan... no, speed of regeneration would increase by a lot too. I was much more excited now.
"I know very little about the classes after that. Like Paragon. These start at the Peak of S class and go upto SS class depending on the person’s skill. They have enough firepower to easily destroy entire kingdoms with a few moves."
I nodded with a grim face. Someone on a higher class than even Alyndra, Jah, and Luci should be beyond powerful.
"It’s said that only 1 in a billion can ever have even the potential to reach this level. In average humanoids. Arcana-born races, probably 1 in ten million." He gave me a strong look when telling it.
Holy shit. So that’s how Nocthra was the strongest Empire. The Alliance of three Arcana-born races sounded even more terrifying now.
"We are just talking potential, effort in training, and luck to get hands on the veils of ascension at that level are even more rare." He added, furthering his point on how impossible it is for an average human to get to that level.
"This is where Chief is. He had achieved this in just six hundred years of his lifespan." Suge said proudly. Six hundred did sound impressive if these were the stakes.
But that old guy was that overpowered? I felt a chill even imagining his golden eyes.
"Now comes transcendent. Where Subaru is." He said, glancing once at Subaru walking with his back hunched. "There are only seven known people at that level.
Three heroes in the Hero’s organization and some spread across the empires. All SS class."
My breath grew ragged. I wonder how old Subaru is... If six hundred years were impressive to reach Paragon, transcendent was surely much more insane.
Suge’s face grew respectful, almost worshiping as he continued, "Apotheosis is where Lord Suneater is classified. Class’s graded SS+. There are no grades beyond SS+."
The confrontation and how we have folded Suneater sent me in a existential crisis. Please God, don’t let that thing find out about the sword!! I cried in my head, my face staying expressionless.
"Finally, mythical. It’s quite simply, Godhood. Infinite lifespan. Infinite Arcana.
The Vampire Queen, Lord Pazuzu, and now a human divine general of Velmoria are all here. Beings at that caliber are said to be capable of destroying the entire world." He finished in a deep voice.
I nodded repeatedly. I didn’t doubt it. Subaru wasn’t even at the top, and the aura I felt from him, oh my god! I seriously gotta climb this ladder if I want to kill my enemies.
I had made up my mind. I will make the fastest climb to Mythical grade.
As Suge, we were talking, we hadn’t stopped walking.
Now, we stood in front of a hut-like entrance in a packed street.
We had to turn just a few streets right next to the mountain’s entrance to get here. I was honestly expecting something grander for a place our Veils were than a run-down building in a rather poor area.
"A homeless shelter?" Alya asked curiously, rubbing her chin.
Suge cringed at her words. It clearly was not.
It did look like one, though, with its colorless walls, with just the coatings of cement and the stench from the open gutter pipes flowing at all edges of the street.
"This is the secret base of SI. The headquarters." He said through a tired breath, startling all three of us.
He merely chuckled at our reactions, "Anyways, stay right behind me and don’t talk to anyone, even if they are opening a conversation. Especially, you two." He nodded towards Alya and me.
"Let me guess, they are racist with vampires too!" I laughed rather bitterly. This was getting old now.
Suge’s brows furrowed, "With what you know about Lord Pazuzu’s death, you’d understand what caused it. It’s part of the propaganda. People had danced when the vampire incident happened. They are good people, let’s just say... stupid."
I burst into laughter at Suge’s description. Alya’s nose wrinkled at the dance part. Understandably, who the fuck dances when they know a race-wide genocide happened that included innocent civilians.
That maybe earth’s morals talking, but I did find it just as repulsive. No wonder Lucien was angry. Alya is. No matter how much she hates her kin, they are still of the same race. People were dancing as her home was destroyed.
