Chapter 825: Chapter 825: Thankfully, We’re Together (Part 1)

"Nothing much, just a friend’s issue, but it’s all sorted out now, nothing serious." Not wanting her to overthink, Jiang Hai found an excuse to brush it off.

Always trusting his words, Veya didn’t press the matter.

"As long as it’s resolved. Did you tell Asheng about the 9 a.m. flight tomorrow?"

Jiang Hai nodded, "I did."

"My dad called earlier to remind me. He hasn’t seen Asheng in a long time and insists on having Asheng visit him." Veya laughed.

Jiang Hai echoed with a hum, but the worry in his heart hadn’t dissipated.

...

The refreshing sea breeze blew, causing ripples to spread across the shimmering sea.

In the distance, a small blue boat was drifting on the water.

Under a colorful parasol, a woman sat cross-legged on a rocking chair, one hand supporting her head and the other holding a fishing rod.

After waiting for a long time, there was no movement from the rod, and her wrist gradually felt sore.

She lazily put her free arm on the railing and stretched lazily.

Footsteps gradually approached from behind, and a deep, magnetic voice fell on her ears, "Caught a big one yet?"

Li Mochan glanced at the empty bucket, and a teasing smile appeared at the corners of his thin lips.

The woman lifted the fisherman’s hat off her head, looked up, and rolled her eyes at him, "If you want to laugh, just laugh, don’t hold it in."

Seriously, it’s been over an hour, and she hasn’t caught a single fish.

Li Mochan chuckled softly and sat down next to her, offering the plate in his hand to her.

"Want some?"

Ye Jiuliang picked up a fork, speared a piece of orange, and munched on it, sounding puzzled, "Do you think this bait isn’t fragrant enough?"

That’s why no fish are biting. She might as well jump into the river and grab them with her hands.

For once, she was genuinely fishing with a rod, and not a single fish showed any respect by biting the bait.

Li Mochan curbed his laughter without directly discouraging her, "Maybe."

Catching the teasing tone in his words, Ye Jiuliang glanced sideways at him, casting him a sharp look, "Is it funny? If you’re so good, why don’t you try?"

Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, "What’s the bet?"

No bet, and he’s not interested in fishing here.

"Whatever you want," Ye Jiuliang said generously.

She had been waiting here for so long without even seeing the shadow of a fish, so he didn’t fear boasting.

Waiting for this moment, Li Mochan’s lips curved into a smile, "Alright."

He set the fruit plate aside and reached out to pick up the fishing rod.

Ye Jiuliang watched leisurely as he changed the bait, his movements exceedingly skilled.

She bit into an apple, the corners of her red lips curling into an amused smile.

Li Mochan applied a slight force to his wrist, flicking the rod outward as the bait plunged into the sea.

"Don’t worry, I won’t laugh at you if you don’t catch any fish." Ye Jiuliang leaned sideways, resting her head on his solid shoulder.

Saying she wouldn’t laugh, yet her overly bright smile was all too real.

Li Mochan held the rod in one hand, using the other to wrap around her, "Want to guess what I’m betting on?"

Looking into his deep, cold eyes, Ye Jiuliang felt a chill on the back of her neck, a sense of foreboding.

She decided not to guess and played the fool, "Can’t guess. You might not even catch a fish, so it’s too early to talk about bets."

"Is that so?" Li Mochan smirked.

"Then what’s this?"

With a flick of his wrist, the rod lifted, splashing water everywhere.

Soon after, a lively, jumping big fish came into Ye Jiuliang’s view, weighing about three pounds.

"..."

Ye Jiuliang was petrified.

She raised her hand to rub her eyes, as the lively, jumping big fish came closer.

It wasn’t an illusion.

In such a short time, he actually caught a fish.

Oh crap.

Do the fish here really bite based on the person?

In the meantime, Li Mochan had already reeled in the rod, and the fish biting the hook was tossed into the bucket.

He set down the rod, looked at Ye Jiuliang with a faint smile, "Little wolf cub, you have to keep your word."

Ye Jiuliang was speechless, "..." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

She lowered her head, staring hard at the fish in the bucket, frowning fiercely, still unable to accept the fact that Li Mochan had caught a fish.

She frowned at Li Mochan, "How did you catch it?"

"Secret." Li Mochan smiled mysteriously.

She had been moving the rod all around; it’s no wonder the fish didn’t get scared away. Their little wolf cub was still used to catching fish with her bare hands.

Ye Jiuliang gave him a sidelong glance, "Stingy."

"I was planning to grill a fish for you, but since you called me stingy, maybe I should reconsider." Li Mochan’s voice rose with a hint of amusement.

"No, I want grilled fish, I want it." Ye Jiuliang’s eyes lit up as she hugged his arm and shook it.

Li Mochan looked down at her, "And the bet?"

"Got it, it’s just a bet."

Li Mochan smiled contentedly, stood up, and lifted the bucket, "Stay here, don’t wander off."

Ye Jiuliang obediently nodded, her gaze following his back, not forgetting to urge, "Hurry up, I’m hungry."

As she turned around, her gaze inadvertently caught sight of a sailboat in the distance.

She picked up binoculars, saw the man standing at the front of the sailboat, and her lips twitched.

Did he really follow them here?

Later, when he meets her Li Mochan, they’re likely going to "hurt each other" again.

Looks like her peace and quiet would be short-lived.

Just as she held up the binoculars, Ji Mingqian spotted Ye Jiuliang as well.

He waved in her direction, sensing that his presence wasn’t felt, he picked up a megaphone and yelled, "Ajiu."

Ye Jiuliang silently put down the binoculars, "..."

This idiot.

Good thing there was no one else around, or it’d be really embarrassing.

Inside, Li Mochan heard the commotion and came out, "Ji Mingqian’s here?"

Ye Jiuliang turned, clearly seeing the flash of disdain on his face, and she couldn’t help but laugh.

"Why don’t you throw him into the sea later?"

Li Mochan changed the subject with a meaningful tone, "Good thing we’re together."

Otherwise, Dark Hall and the K Organization might have started a fight.

Understanding the underlying meaning, Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but smile, "If you throw him into the sea, Asheng might come after you."

As they joked, the white sailboat had already navigated toward them.

"Look at you two, off to have fun here. This place doesn’t even have a signal." Seeing the two of them, Ji Mingqian’s mouth wouldn’t stop as he kept complaining.

He had been looking for them for two days, and they didn’t even pick up the phone. Those two were just off enjoying themselves.

The two sailboats drew closer, and Ji Mingqian leaped aboard, standing steadily.

"I told you we’re on vacation, what’s so strange about being here?" Ye Jiuliang said with amusement.

Li Mochan glanced at him, speaking with a tone full of disdain, "Why’d you follow us?"

Ji Mingqian instinctively wanted to retort but, remembering he needed some help, quickly changed his tone, "I’m not here to find you."
