The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 689. Can’t stand others saying a bad word about him (15)
Ji Mingqian shook his head, resigned, "It’s long gone. I happened to see Master flipping through that book in his study one time, and after I took a quick glimpse, he burned it."
Burning books?
Ye Jiuliang’s face showed a hint of astonishment. What secret did that book hold that he even burned it?
"I have an appointment with Burn, so I’ll be leaving first." Ji Mingqian picked up his car keys and stood up, heading out.
"We’re going out too." Ye Jiuliang got up and pulled Li Mochan to his feet.
Li Mochan got up willingly, to spare her the effort, "Not eating breakfast?"
"We’ll eat out." she said.
She was tired of the hotel’s food.
Li Mochan raised his hand and gently rubbed her head, his eyes filled with indulgence, "Go change your shoes."
After leaving the hotel, Ji Mingqian got into his car. Remembering the words Li Mochan had said, a mocking smile played on his lips.
Girlfriend?
As if he cared.
He shut the car door forcefully, the slamming noise reverberating.
Who was he kidding, saying he wasn’t angry?
The engine started, and the blue sports car shot out like an arrow released from a bow.
Driving along, he passed by a music store and couldn’t help but take a second glance.
The car’s speed unconsciously slowed down, pulling over to the side of the road.
He reached out to push the car door open, and as if bewitched, he stepped out.
Entering the music store, he suddenly hesitated, a tinge of annoyance flickering in his eyes.
This was madness.
What was he doing here? They didn’t even sell keyboards at this place.
He was about to turn away when the conversation of two people nearby caught his attention.
"This violin has a nice tone, but it’s still not comparable to my idol Jiang Yisheng. No one can play the violin as beautifully as he does," sighed one young man.
"Hah, what’s so great about that Jiang Yisheng? Isn’t he just getting by on his looks? My violin playing is a hundred times better than his," a slightly older man sneered.
"What do you mean ’getting by on his looks’? Jiang Yisheng is both good-looking and talented," the young man retorted upon hearing this, unhappy and arguing back.
"Hey, I’m your friend here, why are you speaking for Jiang Yisheng? All those female fans are just after his looks, the whole ’genius musician’ thing is just something they’ve hyped up," the older man snapped back.
Before he could finish his sentence, his collar was suddenly yanked.
The older man turned around with an impatient look, only to be met with a fist to his face.
The iron-like fist landed on his face, and instantly, the man’s mouth corner turned purplish, with crimson blood seeping out.
The young man jumped in fright, exclaiming in shock.
The commotion quickly drew the attention of bystanders, and more people began to gather around.
The man fell to the ground, clutching his bruised mouth, wincing in pain, "Who are you? Why did you hit me?"
Ji Mingqian pressed down on his cap’s brim, his eyes concealed behind sunglasses flashing with hostility.
"Your mouth’s filthy; why shouldn’t I hit you?" he said coldly.
"I wasn’t talking about you. Are you crazy?" the man said as he stood up, the punch having been so fierce that now his mouth hurt too much to speak.
Ji Mingqian couldn’t care less about him and turned to leave.
"You hit someone and think you can just walk away? Stop right there," the man said, seething with indignation as he followed.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ji Mingqian saw the man’s reaching hand, he halted abruptly and swung back with another punch.
Fast as lightning, the onlookers hadn’t even reacted when they heard the man’s scream.
"Ah—"
The man staggered back two steps, one of his front teeth knocked out, his speech now whistling.
He covered his mouth, his face reddened with pain, his eyes glistening with tears of misery.
Ji Mingqian drew back his hand and snorted derisively, "Get lost."
The surrounding people exchanged glances and collectively took a step back in tacit agreement.
This was someone fierce.
Ji Mingqian walked away and this time, no one dared to stop him.
Back in the car, Ji Mingqian took off his hat and mask, tossing them onto the passenger seat in one fell swoop.
He slapped the steering wheel with his hand, feeling agitated.
Damn.
What was he thinking, going to that musical instrument store for no good reason?
It was like poisoning himself.
Ji Mingqian ruffled his hair and started the car to leave.
...
Approaching the scheduled time, Ye Jiuliang and Li Mochan arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early.
On the way, they had bought a bag of roasted chestnuts, and Ye Jiuliang, craving a snack, couldn’t wait until they got back to the hotel to eat them.
After peeling one, she completely lost patience and handed them over to Li Mochan to peel.
Chewing on a chestnut, Ye Jiuliang squinted with delight, "Tasty."
After taking a bite, she stuffed the other half of the chestnut into Li Mochan’s mouth.
She asked him, "Isn’t it delicious?"
Li Mochan hummed an affirmation, his well-defined hands continuing to peel the nuts.
Ye Jiuliang glanced at the pile of chestnut shells on the table, recalling the first time he had peeled sunflower seeds for her at the Ye Family’s place.
"Mister Mohan, may I ask you something?"
Her cheeky tone made it clear she was about to tease him again.
Li Mochan lifted his eyelids slightly and glanced at her impassively.
"Back at the Ye Family, when I asked you to peel sunflower seeds for me, were you secretly in love with me then?" She raised her eyebrows and let out a mischievous smile.
Li Mochan remained silent, quietly continuing to peel the chestnuts.
"Well, were you?" She nudged his arm with her elbow, intentionally provoking him.
Before her words had even finished, a warm chestnut was pushed against her lips, and Li Mochan leaned in close, a pleasing curve forming on his lips.
"That was an open crush, it’s just that you failed to notice."
What secret crush? He had been so obvious; how could it possibly have been a secret?
It was she who had a low emotional IQ, she who was clueless and unaware.
Ye Jiuliang’s mind went blank for a few seconds before she caught on, and her bright, cold eyes sparkled with charming laughter.
She reached for the chestnut, her mouth almost splitting into a grin from ear to ear.
"Li Mochan, confessing so suddenly, it’s making me uncomfortable," she said, feigning distress.
If she could have toned down her smile a bit, she might have seemed more genuine.
Li Mochan glanced at her sideways, "Don’t want the chestnuts anymore?"
Their child had better be a boy; otherwise, if a girl takes after his wolf cub, she’d become a little ruffian.
Ye Jiuliang grinned ingratiatingly, "No, I want them."
"Sister Ajiu."
The voice of Mo Chen came through, and Ye Jiuliang looked up to see Mo Chen hurrying in front, with Mo Yuan following leisurely behind.
"Did you also buy chestnuts?" Mo Chen couldn’t help but laugh as he saw the chestnuts on the table.
"Look at this."
He placed his paper bag on the table, and a faint aroma of chestnuts wafted through the air.
Ye Jiuliang looked at the similarly packaged paper bag and cracked a smile.
"You also encountered that stall?"
Mo Chen nodded, "Right at the corner of the restaurant."
"Mr. Mo, take a seat," Ye Jiuliang said to Mo Yuan, gesturing him over.
Mo Yuan smiled faintly and nodded lightly to Li Mochan.
"Sister Ajiu, I’ve snagged a new model figure. I’ll give it to you once I’ve assembled it," Mo Chen took a seat next to Mo Yuan, picking up a chestnut and starting to munch on it.
"Planning to pay the rent and meals with model figures?" Ye Jiuliang teased.
Mo Chen smiled obsequiously and continued with her joke, "Would that work?"
