Chapter 148: 148, Dragging you to be buried with me, I’m not at a loss (third watch)

"You’re breaking the law by doing this, let me go, let me go..." Baona was tied to a pillar, her right cheek bearing a slightly red palm print.

The several black-clad men beside her didn’t glance her way, completely ignoring her.

At that moment, the heavy iron door was kicked open.

Against the light, a slender figure stepped in slowly, his commanding presence instantly filling the abandoned warehouse with a sense of oppression.

The sudden bright light shone in, causing Baona to squint uncomfortably, and when she made out who it was, her face tightened.

"Boss, you better run."

Ye Jiuliang glanced at Baona from the corner of his eye, relieved to see she was unharmed, then turned his gaze towards the several black-clad men.

"Stop there."

The leader of the black-clad men shouted coldly.

Ye Jiuliang paused in his tracks, eyes slightly lifted, haughty and cold, "What’s the matter? Scared now that I’ve arrived?"

"We know Miss Ye is courageous. Capturing your friend was a reluctant move on our part, as you’re so agile and have taken down quite a few of our men," the black-clad man said with a sullen face.

"Heh."

Ye Jiuliang let out a cold laugh, "Spill it, who sent you?"

It seemed tonight’s setup was prepared for him, and not aimed at Achen or Li Mochan. Using Li Mochan as bait to lure him into the bar, they hadn’t expected him to discover the ambush inside the building across from the bar.

And now, safe and sound, they turned their attention to Baona and the others, threatening their safety to coerce him here, still targeting him.

"You’ve gone through all the trouble of setting up these traps, surely it isn’t just to have a chat about life with me here?"

"Miss Ye, there’s no point in trying to get anything out of us. We have nothing to tell you," the leading black-clad man sneered, reaching out to grab Baona’s neck.

Applying slight pressure, Baona’s face turned a shade of purplish blue.

"Cough cough..."

"Let her go," Ye Jiuliang clenched his fists, his voice piercingly cold, "Name your conditions."

The black-clad man smiled satisfactorily, signaling to an accomplice with his eyes. The latter nodded in understanding, stepped past Ye Jiuliang, and reached out to close the door.

"Heh."

The chilling laugh sliced through the air, as if a demonic whisper from the King of Hell.

The man closed the door and had just turned around, unable to see how the slender figure had moved, when suddenly, a piercing pain shot through his abdomen.

The tall figure fell backward, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Ye Jiuliang retracted his foot, grabbed the man’s hair, and snatched the gun from his hand, "Dare to take my people? If you want a longer life, just say so."

With the dark muzzle pressed against his forehead, the black-clad man froze.

"Ye Jiuliang, how dare you lay a hand on him. Don’t forget, your friends are still in our hands," the leading black-clad man yelled furiously, tightening his grip on Baona.

"Cough cough cough..."

Baona gasped in pain, unable to exert any strength with her hands and feet tied up.

Ye Jiuliang’s cold eyes hardened, and without hesitation, he pulled the trigger.

"Bang..."

The unnaturally red blood splattered, staining her collar.

The black-clad man’s ferocious expression froze, unable to utter a cry of pain, his life snuffed out in an instant.

Seeing their comrade killed, the black-clad men were beside themselves with rage, "Ye Jiuliang!"

Ye Jiuliang released his grip, a bloodthirsty smile curling on his lips, "If you don’t want to die, let her go."

"Leader, the mission is crucial," someone nearby reminded.

The black-clad man abruptly withdrew from his fury, suppressed his anger, "Take action."

No sooner had he spoken than the black-clad men drew their guns, the dark muzzles unanimously aimed at Ye Jiuliang, the sounds of chambering rounds echoing one after another.

"Bang bang bang—"

Ye Jiuliang dodged bullets while moving towards Baona.

"Ye Jiuliang, if you dare to move one more step, do you or do you not believe I will send her to meet the King of Hell right now?" Watching his companions fall one by one, the man in black aimed his gun at Baona’s shoulder, his eyes ferociously fixed on Ye Jiuliang.

Ye Jiuliang curled his lip into a cold sneer, "Go ahead, try to move if you dare."

Baona was his lifesaver; if he dared to harm her, he wouldn’t be able to escape himself. Did he really think she was so easy to threaten?

Before his words even faded, she swiftly turned and fired a shot, taking down the black-clothed man who had quietly approached from behind in one fluid motion.

"Bang..."

In a corner unseen by others, the black-clothed man holding Baona revealed a sinister smile.

"Ye Jiuliang, I’m giving her back to you." He said eerily, then reached out to untie Baona’s ropes and pushed her out.

"Ah."

Having never seen such a scene before, Baona’s face turned pale with fear.

With her legs still bound, the push from the man in black sent her tumbling to the ground.

Instead of the expected pain, Baona opened her eyes to find Ye Jiuliang catching her.

"Boss." Seeing it was her, Baona’s repressed emotions nearly burst, her voice tinged with a sob.

In the shadows, a murderous aura intensified.

Ye Jiuliang realized it was a trap. Suddenly, a countless number of hidden darts shot in through the windows and doors, each carrying a chilling murderous intent.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the black-clothed man attempting to escape through the broken window, a fierce light flashing in her eyes.

She cut Baona free from the ropes on her legs and casually handed her a piece of metal, "Baona, get out first."

"Boss, what about you?" Baona asked tearfully, "If we go, we go together."

"No, you must listen to me and get out quickly. I’ll be fine," Ye Jiuliang said, pushing her, "Go find help. That’s the best way to assist me."

Baona stumbled, took a deep look at her, then crouched down and, using the metal piece to deflect the darts, quickly ran out.

The boss was right; she would only hold them back here. Finding Mr. Li was the best choice. He would surely save the boss.

"Thinking of escaping? It’s too late."

The chilling voice crawled up his back, and the man in black’s expression changed as he lifted his foot to jump through the window.

In the nick of time, an icy hand grabbed his neck and threw him backward with immense force.

"Bang—" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

The broad back smashed into the ground, and just as the black-clothed man attempted to get up, dark gun muzzles aimed at his limbs and fired several shots.

"Bang bang bang—"

The man in black’s face flushed red, his body convulsing momentarily.

Ye Jiuliang put away her gun, squatted down, and grabbed the collar of the black-clothed man, her voice cold, "Speak, who sent you? What’s your purpose?"

"Ye Jiuliang, accompanying you in death, I die without regrets," the black-clothed man suddenly burst into maniacal laughter.

Before his laughter ended, all doors and windows of the warehouse shut.

The sound of "click clack click clack" was grating and sinister.

Ye Jiuliang frowned and looked up just in time to see a lighter thrown through the door crack.

The eerie blue flame ignited the clutter in the warehouse, and Ye Jiuliang’s face changed color. She was about to get up when her ankle was suddenly grabbed.

"Ye Jiuliang, just wait for your death," the man laughed as he spoke.

Ye Jiuliang looked down at him, her brows tightly furrowed.

"Seeking death."

She kicked him away, and the black-clothed man rolled several times before crashing into a pillar.

As the fire spread and illuminated the warehouse, Ye Jiuliang rushed to the window and grabbed a hammer to smash it.

After several blows, the window remained unscathed.

The material of the window, unbeknownst to her, had been replaced, and it was locked from the outside.
