The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 136. Does this include you, little wolf cub? (Third update)
Wu Bin raised a question, "Where is the staff member who inspected this car before, why isn’t he here?"
The engine was broken, and there wasn’t enough time to switch to a spare; every car that took to the track had to undergo a thorough inspection, and as soon as the individual race ended, the team race would start immediately—there was no time to fix it properly.
"We’re not sure either, he was just here a moment ago, and then he disappeared," the staff member was so scared that he almost cried.
"What’s going on?" Ye Jiuliang came over, and Liu Cong and the others quickly dispersed to make way for her.
"Boss."
Gao Yang briefly explained the situation, and Ye Jiuliang’s gaze swept over the malfunctioning race car with a thin, cool smile on her lips.
"Bring the toolbox here."
Her commanding presence was so overwhelming that the staff members had trouble catching their breath, stepping back to make room.
Soon after, Gao Yang ran over with the toolbox.
"Boss, here you go."
Ye Jiuliang took the toolbox, tossed it to the ground, and picked up a wrench and pliers, bending over to work on the engine.
Xiao Mengxue pushed past the staff members and pulled Su Yishan closer.
Seeing Ye Jiuliang bent over fixing the car, surprise flickered through Xiao Mengxue’s beautiful eyes.
Cries of shock came from the adjacent Track 1.
Gao Yang and the others became even more anxious.
This was bad, it was almost the end of the race.
"This Anders sure has guts," Feng Yi scoffed lightly, his gaze falling on the two race cars on the track, neck and neck in speed.
Using his own car to ram into Xiang Tian’s body squarely meant he was gambling with his life.
Xiang Tian’s lips were tightly pursed, his squinted eyes flashing with a cold and sharp light.
Anders, you’ve forced my hand.
He jerked the steering wheel to the right, and as the tires screeched across the track, they left a mix of skid marks.
In an instant, the black car harshly collided with the purple one.
"Bang—"
Out of inertia, Anders lurched forward, his forehead striking the steering wheel, causing a sting of pain.
Damn it.
He angrily slapped the steering wheel, his gaze ferociously fixed on the black race car that had overtaken him.
"The captain won, the captain won!" Gao Yang ran back, his face flushed with excitement.
Ye Jiuliang’s hand, holding the pliers, paused, and the corners of her lips curved up in an almost imperceptible smile.
Baona grabbed his arm, "What did you say?"
"The captain won, he won!" Gao Yang was almost jumping with joy.
Baona released his hand, her eyes misting with tears.
She collapsed into a chair, crying and laughing together.
Since losing the race last year, no one knew how upset Xiang Tian had been better than she did. That’s why she knew the significance of this race to him better than anyone else.
"The captain is coming back," Wu Bin exclaimed excitedly.
Xiang Tian came back, drenched in sweat. Baona rushed over, hanging on him while crying and laughing, "I knew you were going to win."
"Silly girl," Xiang Tian said as her body crashing into him pushed him back two steps. He reached up to touch her head, his tone filled with indulgence.
Liu Cong stood to the side, passing tools, "Boss, do we have enough time?"
Ye Jiuliang crooked her lips, noncommittally humming in response.
"Feng Yi."
Xiao Mengxue caught sight of Feng Yi arriving, her eyes brightening and completely forgetting the coldness he had shown her just before.
"What’s happened?" Feng Yi glanced at Ye Jiuliang, who was still fixing the car, then turned his look toward Baona and the others.
With succinct clarity, Wu Bin said, "Someone tampered with it, Liu Cong’s car engine malfunctioned, and the staff member who checked the car is missing."
Feng Yi raised an eyebrow, finding the turn of events quite intriguing.
He took out his phone and walked aside; someone had dared to meddle on his turf, and they were in for it.
"Please have the contestants for the team race report to track number two and get ready," a calm male voice came from the loudspeaker.
Gao Yang and the others’ faces changed.
Ye Jiuliang dropped the wrench and exhaled, "It’s done."
Apparently, there wasn’t enough time, and the engine wasn’t completely destroyed.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"Liu Cong, make it quick. The engine is only temporarily fixed and won’t last long," Ye Jiuliang instructed.
Liu Cong nodded, "Got it."
"Come on, hurry up," Xiang Tian urged, "We’re the only ones left."
"Boss, remember to prepare the red envelope."
Gao Yang and the others turned and ran, rushing towards track number two.
Suddenly, the surroundings became much quieter.
Ye Jiuliang shook her head and chuckled lightly, a bunch of money-grubbers.
Turning her head, she bumped into the man’s sturdy chest.
Looking up, she met his smiling eyes and paused for a moment.
"The little wolf cub has turned into a kitten," Li Mochan teased as he gently scraped the tip of her nose with his hand, his deep laughter intoxicating.
Ye Jiuliang felt puzzled and took out her phone to look at her face, only to see that her fair cheeks had somehow acquired flecks of blue and black.
She probably got it from fixing the car earlier.
"Come here," Li Mochan said as he pulled her hand, making her sit on a chair.
Ye Jiuliang was bewildered, "What are you doing?"
Li Mochan squatted in front of her, took out several wet wipes, held her chin with one hand, and wiped her face with the other.
"Don’t move."
"Li Wuye is stooping so low; if the old master saw this, he would probably make me copy the family rules again," Ye Jiuliang joked.
Li Mochan’s lips curved slightly, "Then can you not let this master squat under the table again next time?"
"Hehe." Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but laugh.
In the distance, Su Yishan watched the man condescending to squat and pierced her palm with her fingernail without feeling the pain.
Suddenly, a cold gaze came over, and she was caught off guard, but then she squeezed out a gentle smile.
Ye Jiuliang withdrew her gaze and poked Li Mochan’s arm, "Li Wuye, is that perhaps one of your admirers?"
Every time she saw that woman, she could feel her gaze constantly falling on Li Mochan, intentionally or not.
To say there was nothing going on, she didn’t believe it for a second.
"The race over there is about to end," Li Mochan abruptly changed the subject and started walking away with her, not even glancing in Su Yishan’s direction.
"Hey, why don’t you answer me, Li Mochan? Actually, you don’t have to be embarrassed, it’s normal to have admirers," Ye Jiuliang deliberately teased him.
Li Mochan fixed her with a steady gaze and yanked her collar, his long legs moving quickly.
Ye Jiuliang was lifted off her feet, her straight legs dangling in the air.
She glared at him dissatisfied, "Li Mochan, so what if you’re strong? Do I not have a face to save here?"
As they reached the tree, Li Mochan suddenly let go.
Ye Jiuliang shot him a glare and smoothed out her slightly wrinkled collar.
"Li Mochan, do you even know what ’gentleman’ means? You such as this..."
Before she could finish her complaint, the man suddenly grabbed her wrist and leaned in close.
Ye Jiuliang was stunned, and by the time she reacted, she was pinned against the tree.
"What about me, hmm?" His deep voice carried a hint of laziness.
Ye Jiuliang sensed danger and quickly changed her tune, "Of course, Li Wuye is great, with high attractiveness, long legs, and wealth to boot. Absolutely flawless."
Her flattery was louder and more resounding than the last.
"Truly the dream lover of every woman in the capital, the perfect man," she added, raising her thumb to emphasize her sincerity.
Li Mochan’s brows were teasing, his tone elongating, "Every woman, does that include you, little wolf cub?"
