Chapter 111: 111, Sister, my legs are sore (first watch)

The cute fox mask entered his field of vision, and Ye Jiuliang’s gaze lingered for a second before he indifferently moved it away.

"Can’t."

Since he had asked so sincerely, she could only reply with equal sincerity.

Apparently not expecting Ye Jiuliang to reject him so directly, the boy’s face behind the mask showed a hint of hurt.

His hands awkwardly at his sides, he stood there immobile.

Ye Jiuliang put away her phone, looked up to see the boy still standing there, nibbling on an apple, occasionally glancing her way.

It was strange, but she felt a sense of grievance emanating from his eyes.

"Sister, my legs are sore." He chewed on his apple as he spoke softly.

Ye Jiuliang paused, her eyes taking in the young man seriously.

Golden hair, light brown eyes, pale skin—he didn’t seem like one of the Huaguo people.

To come here, standing around eating an apple, was quite bizarre.

"If your legs are sore, go sit over there. Don’t just stand here and block my light," Ye Jiuliang said coolly.

"There’s an open spot right here." The boy pointed to the empty stool beside Ye Jiuliang, looking at her expectantly.

Ye Jiuliang glanced at him and uttered two words, "No way."

The boy pursed his lips and squatted down beside her.

With his height of one meter seventy, he hunched over in the corner, curled into a ball.

He picked up the apple and took a crunchy bite.

With a series of showy moves, he successfully drew Ye Jiuliang’s sidelong glance.

"Sister, do you want an apple?" Matching Ye Jiuliang’s gaze, the boy grinned widely.

Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow—this guy couldn’t possibly be intellectually challenged, could he?

Just then, the shopkeeper came out.

Dressed in grey cloth, with silver hair and a small goatee that curled at the ends, his face wore a kindly smile. He seemed to have an air of an immortal about him.

"Sorry to have kept you all waiting," the shopkeeper said with a hoarse voice.

"Mr. Bai, long time no see."

"Mr. Bai, the batch of medicine ingredients you had last time was excellent. This time I will need to trouble you to recommend some more."

Many people obviously regular customers, greeted the old man warmly.

"Sister, are you here to buy medicine ingredients too?" The boy finished his apple and turned his head to speak to Ye Jiuliang again.

"Sister, what medicine ingredients are you buying? Let me help you look for them," he offered.

The chirping beside her ear made Ye Jiuliang cast a cold glance his way, "Can you shut up?"

"I can," the boy stiffened and replied weakly.

With Mr. Bai’s appearance, the sale officially began. Customers each picked their medicine ingredients and had the store clerks register them, to facilitate later checkout together.

Careful observation revealed that several groups of people were just wandering around the store, appearing distracted and uninterested in selecting medicine ingredients.

This included Li Jingjie and his group.

It seemed like quite a few people were here tonight for the Golden Snow Ginseng.

There was likely to be a fierce battle ahead.

Ye Jiuliang sat with her legs crossed, her fingertips lightly tapping on her knee, quietly watching the comings and goings of the customers.

"Sister, my legs are numb." The boy rubbed his feet, speaking in a voice full of grievance, almost as if he had been wronged.

He kept calling her "sister." Ye Jiuliang found it hard to ignore him. She sent a cold look his way, "Who’s your sister? Keep it up, and I’ll hit you."

The boy shrank his neck, stopped rubbing his legs, and quietly lowered his head.

Sister is so fierce.

Most people who had come here today had caught wind of something, all waiting for the last prized treasure.

After nearly an hour, half of the customers who had selected their medicine ingredients left, and the place finally became more spacious.

Even the air seemed much fresher.
