The Kitty Became a Cutie and Was Pampered in the 80s-Chapter 1805: This Marriage Must End (1)
"Your big brother went to the company, your mom went to find a lawyer," Grandpa Shu said, sipping his porridge. He seemed to be lost in thought, and as he helped Jiaojiao with some side dishes, he casually asked, "Sweetheart, if your mom and dad get divorced, who will you stay with?"
Regarding Ruan Jianguo, Grandpa Shu used to turn a blind eye for Shu Jiao’s sake, as long as Shu Jiao was willing. But now that Shu Jiao wanted to divorce Ruan Jianguo, he was all for it, raising both hands in agreement. After all, his daughter from the Shu family had the confidence; she’ll only live better after the divorce.
He could easily find a bunch of young men for her to choose from, and any random one would be a thousand, ten thousand times better than that oafish Ruan.
Last night, Jiaojiao supported Shu Jiao’s every decision, but today she couldn’t bring herself to say the same to Grandpa Shu. She pursed her lips and chose to act as if she hadn’t heard.
Grandpa Shu chuckled and began his coaxing tactics: "Look, these are all your favorites, these soup dumplings, these crab roe buns, Grandma Liang made them specially for you at my request this morning. Delicious, right? If you stay with your mom, you can live with Grandpa here and have them all the time."
Jiaojiao’s response was to stuff a crab roe bun into Grandpa Shu’s mouth and urged Gu Zichen to hurry up and join them for breakfast.
Grandpa Shu took the bun out, still wanting to persuade Jiaojiao to stay with her mom, but Jiaojiao had already turned to chat with Duan Xi, appearing busy, leaving Grandpa Shu no choice but to sulkily munch on his bun.
Once breakfast was over, Jiaojiao swiftly pulled Duan Xi outside for some fresh air, kicking the pebbles on the ground while sighing uncontrollably.
Though she verbally supported Shu Jiao, deep down, she didn’t want them to divorce.
But she didn’t want to wrong her mother either, and now she was really in a dilemma.
Jiaojiao stayed at the Shu family’s until nearly noon when Ruan Hao and Shu Jiao returned from outside.
Shu Jiao had reverted to her usual self, making Jiaojiao wonder if last night’s Shu Jiao was just a figment of her imagination.
"Is the divorce agreement ready?" Grandpa Shu asked.
Shu Jiao nodded, took the agreement out of her bag and handed it to him. Grandpa Shu immediately fetched his reading glasses from the drawer, and began reading it intently, nodding from time to time.
Jiaojiao hadn’t expected Shu Jiao to actually print the divorce agreement. Just last night she’d spoken of the divorce, and by this morning the agreement was ready, leaving Jiaojiao with no time to react. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She stared blankly at the divorce agreement in Grandpa Shu’s hands, her eyes suddenly turned red, and tears streamed down without any warning.
Everyone was taken aback.
Shu Jiao quickly responded, hugging her and saying amusedly yet somewhat exasperatedly, "Yesterday you said you’d support any decision mom made. Why the tears today?"
Jiaojiao didn’t want to cry, but she couldn’t control her tears. She looked up at Shu Jiao, tears still falling.
She just felt an ache in her heart, an indescribable pain.
She knew that even if Ruan Jianguo and Shu Jiao divorced, she would still be their child, they would still love her the same.
But one would be here, and the other there, the family split in two, and just the thought of it made her terribly sad.
