Chapter 468: 467. Allies (2)
Rune dragged me over to some of the noblemen and introduced us, I nodded and smiled talking to them while I could feel numerous eyes on me. From the corner of my eye I could see Davian also being surrounded by a lot of people.
As the crowd dispersed, I leaned over to Rune as he hadn’t yet introduced me to the most important person.
"Um... Your Highness," a melodious familiar spoke up before I could speak and we both turned to see the beautiful lavender haired lady standing a couple steps away looking shy.
"Oh, my!" I mumbled feeling as even my brother’s face started going red.
I smiled clearing my throat and nudged his side snapping him back to reality.
"Ah... L-Lady... This is...um... Well, my sis... No, erm..." Rune was a blabbering mess which made me feel like laughing.
I shook my head as he seemed like he wouldn’t be able to do it.
"It seems like the lady’s beauty has cast a spell on my dear friend," I teased him and the two flushed bright red.
"Th-This is Lady Celestia Konstantinos..." Rune said gesturing towards Celestia before he gestured towards me, "And this is Marquis Ocean Ryujin."
I bowed to her presenting my hand and she hesitantly placed her delicate hand in mine, I placed a fleeting kiss over her knuckles before I straightened up.
"I finally get to meet the lady who makes our Young Duke behave like a lovestruck boy." I beamed making her and Rune flush even deeper red.
"S-Stop saying un-unnecessary things!" Rune hissed and I chortled.
Just then the music changed and I looked at Celestia and then at Rune, I smirked a bit before I stepped ahead.
"My lady, would you honor me with this dance?" I asked and she blinked looking once at Rune and then hesitantly placed her hand in mine.
I smirked at Rune with a wink and he chuckled shaking his head while I led Celestia to the dance floor. We bowed and curtsied before each other before I gently held her hand in my while wrapping my other amr tenderly around her slim waist.
She seemed really light and ethereal as we waltzed, I could see why Rune was so struck by her.
"Our Young Duke is really blessed to have such a beauty as his future wife." I spoke and she blinked, she seemed a little shy but I guess she wasn’t too shy to ask the next question.
"Wh-What about your wife? She must be quite blessed too," she said, "I-I have heard a lot about your selfless endeavours towards the common people of Sestia and after the trade, I heard that you would be opening a branch in Denril as well."
"Hm, you seem to know a lot." I smiled and she gasped a little.
"Tha-Tha-That’s what Lord Rune told me... He... He’s really proud of your work and he keeps telling me about you and his family... I can see that he really likes those who are around him." She smiled.
"What do you think about Lord Rune?" I asked and she blinked looking at me.
I guess the question caught her off guard that she stopped dancing, the couple of people who were looking at us seemed to also stare but then I scooped her up nearly making her gasp loudly before I twirled her around and letting her down on her feet softly.
"Wha-What..." She gasped with flushed face while a twinkle appeared in her pearly eyes and I smiled.
"I have my answer,"
"What?" She asked as the music came to a stop and I stepped back bowing to her.
"Please take good care of our Young Duke, My Lady." I spoke before I stepped back.
I looked around trying to spot for some familiar faces and I didn’t have to look around for long as a familiar face was just approaching me. I smiled as I walked the rest of the way to Eric. He wore a pristine white military-style coat, double-breasted with gold buttons and trimmed with black and gold details. A black belt cinched his waist, and a white cloak draped from his shoulder, fastened by golden chains and an ornate brooch adorned with emerald gems. Intricate patterns lined the inner fabric, barely visible unless he moved.
Dark navy trousers and polished black boots completed the look, while a high collar and sapphire-accented cravat added a noble flair. His blond hair was slightly tousled, and his sharp red eyes stood out vividly—cool, commanding, and quietly intense.
"Ho-"
Just as I was about to greet him I felt a bump run into my leg from behind.
"Oh, dear!" I heard a few gasps and I turned around to see a few noble ladies behind me while Sol clung to my trousers.
The ladies looked a little awkward while I smiled, "Good evening, ladies."
That was enough to get them talking.
"G-Good evening, Marquis."
"Is this your son?"
"He was just so adorable and walking around alone so we tried to talk to him."
"Ah, is that so?" I smiled as I placed my hand over Sol’s head.
"Thank you so much for trying to look out for him." I said and the ladies smiled.
I looked at Sol before I got on my knee before him.
"Are you all right?" I asked him and he looked down.
I cupped the side of his face, "Did you let go of Duke’s hand?"
"... stay ... me..." He mumbled so lowly that even I had to strain my ears.
"What did you say?" I asked and he looked at me with flushed cheeks.
"You said you’d stay with me." He spoke with a pouty, cute face and I was slightly taken aback before I smiled wrapping my arm around him and scooping him up.
"Wha-What are you-" he gasped and I chuckled.
"I’m sorry, please forgive me for leaving you alone," I said and he pouted.
"Thank you so much, ladies. I’ll take good care of him from now." I said and the ladies looked relieved but before they could start talking I turned only to be faced by Eric who seemed like he was waiting.
"Your Highness, how are you?" I asked and he eyed Sol before he glanced away, looking at Davian and then at me.
"I... didn’t know you were going to attend this ball Master." He said and I hummed holding Sol properly.
"Well, I wasn’t going to buy Prince Davian didn’t have any chaperone and he requested me to that’s why I had to come." I said and Eric looked down.
"I-If I had known that you could come then I would have asked you to be my chaperone." He said and I sighed.
"I’m pretty sure that would have complicated things." I said and he still looked pretty down.
"Besides, where’s Marquis Fairisles?" I asked looking around and Eric pointed at Duchess Konstantinos who was standing at a distance and beside her was my grandfather Marquis Fairisles.
"So, he’s building connections." I mused and Eric sighed.
"I’ve already talked to a lot of people," he said and I smiled.
I could see a couple of people coming our way and I thought of using this opportunity to step out.
"Why don’t we step out for some fresh air?" I asked and I patted Sol’s back, "even this little guy could use some time out of crowd."
Eric smiled and we started moving towards the corridor which would lead us out towards the garden.
We walked over the stone cobbled path with the bushes and trees around us. Sol lay his cheek over my shoulder already relaxed now that he was away from the crowd.
"You feeling better now?" I asked.
Sol hummed.
"Ah, yes," Eric answered and I looked at him.
He looked at Sol and then at me, "I’m sorry, you asked him."
I chuckled, "It’s fine, I’m glad you both feel better."
Sol turned his head and met Eric’s eyes, the two kept staring at each other before Sol spoke up.
"Why does he keep looking at me?"
Eric blinked taken aback by the attitude and I sighed, "Don’t talk to him like that, he’s the future King of Sestia."
"So, what? He’s still a weak human." Sol spoke looking at him up and down. freёweɓnovel_com
Eric looked at Sol and then asked, "Um... Who is he, Master?"
"This is Sol," I said and Sol wriggled a bit make me put him down.
"You... adopted another child." Eric spoke as he watched Sol walking around.
"I’m planning to but, he keeps refusing so, I’m waiting." I admitted.
Eric frowned a bit but then he looked at Sol as he touched the unbloomed flowerbud.
Just before he could say anything, I heard the sound of rapid footsteps rushing towards us. I just turned and instantly I felt a body slam against mine.
I didn’t lose my balance because of my strength but the other person clung to me with a squeal.
"Master!"
I steadied her as I wrapped my arms around her slim waist and chuckled as the girl was quite familiar.
"My, my, Miri, you startled me."
She giggled as she hugged me tighter and I patted her back.
After a couple of seconds she stepped back and I admired the grown up beautiful lady before me. She stood tall like moonlight personified—draped in flowing white silk adorned with delicate gold accents that shimmered with every movement. The gown cascaded around her in celestial layers, each fold trailing like stardust, and long sheer veils flowed from her shoulders like ribbons of light.
Her skin, a radiant caramel hue, glowed against the pale fabric, while her obsidian eyes—deep and gleaming—held the weight of wisdom and the quiet strength of a ruler.
This was the monarch of Mordino, the young Queen, Her Majesty Miera Almiraz Zeha.
