The King of Urban Mercenaries-Chapter 1461 - 1465: Snake
Back when the Pang Family was spying on New City, Lin Fei thought it was definitely the work of Pang Tongfang.
Of course, now that the Pang Family matter is resolved, Lin Fei knows that his enemies have reduced by one. At least he can be at ease about Mu Shanshan and the others since their self-preservation abilities are not very strong. If faced with a formidable Ancient Martial Artist, they would stand no chance, just like the last incident.
Mu Shanshan withdrew all lawsuits overnight, but for those nations where the verdicts were already finalized, the Pang Family’s influence clearly couldn’t reach. This outcome actually benefits the development of the Mu Group.
As this matter resurfaces with a stir in the world, some believe the Mu Group has acquired the Pang Family, while others think the reconciliation between the two families is linked to the National Council. However, none could foresee the outcome, as everyone thinks differently, making it hard to imagine that the true result would be like this.
Lin Fei becomes much more relaxed going forward. Without other threats, he lounges at home enjoying the sun, while Immortal Wei Huo and Jianxing are both very anxious.
"Lin Fei, how can you still have time to bask in the sun? Do you know how long it’s been? Now Jianxing can’t find a way out. What do you think we should do?" Immortal Wei Huo said.
Lin Fei sighed and said, "Immortal Wei Huo, don’t worry. When the boat reaches the bridgehead, it will naturally straighten. Let’s wait a bit longer. After all, Jianxing can’t leave right now. Our senior brother said before that the world’s barriers have been restored. Coming and going freely now is simply impossible."
"What about the task at hand? We can’t keep waiting here forever, can we? Jianxing doesn’t even know what to do next, and he’s not sure about the current state of the Sword Pavilion in the Upper Realm," said Immortal Wei Huo.
Lin Fei looked at Jianxing beside him and said, "If we really can’t wait any longer, I’ll just crush the stone. This way, it’s better to have our senior brother come, take Jianxing away, and heal my eyes. What do you think?"
Upon hearing Lin Fei, Immortal Wei Huo deflated. Being one of the Guardians, he shouldn’t be encouraging Lin Fei, especially since nothing major has happened yet, making it a waste to crush the stone.
"Let’s forget it for now, Jianxing. Can you wait a bit longer? This guy Lin Fei has the power of a curse within him. If it can be cured, we’ll find another way. If not, we’ll crush the stone to have his senior brother come over, which will allow you to leave together," said Immortal Wei Huo.
"Immortal Wei Huo, you’re oversimplifying things. I can definitely tell you, whether my curse power can be cured or not, we still need to crush the stone for my senior brother to come. Frankly, without him, certain tasks are simply unachievable. Also, Jianxing, don’t worry. There’s no rush," Lin Fei said, looking at Jianxing who was engrossed in his laptop.
Evidently, Jianxing from the Upper Realm had never played with these time-wasters from the Lower Realm, and for someone from the Upper Realm, such time-wasters could be thoroughly entertaining, given they have ample time to spare.
Immortal Wei Huo felt helpless; he hadn’t expected a Sect Leader from the Upper Realm to become so engrossed in Lower Realm games. His own urgency was futile since the person involved wasn’t worried.
"Jianxing, are you really not worried about potential issues occurring in your sect?" Lin Fei asked.
Jianxing shook his head and said, "When I was leaving, someone advised me it might be a Hongmen Banquet set by the Wind God, so I had the others hide. If I return safely, that’s good; if not, then let the Sword Pavilion disband for now."
"I see. You’re quite smart," Lin Fei admired. This approach was wise under uncertain conditions.
"Lin Fei, how do I get through this level? It’s really hard!" Jianxing asked Lin Fei.
Lin Fei glanced and said, "It’s like this: tackle through here and reach there, then you can level up. After leveling up, continue..." Lin Fei explained, not implying Jianxing was dull, but rather indicating Jianxing wasn’t accustomed to these things here, which involved different ways of thinking.
As time slowly passed, just a few days before the third month, Lin Fei was resting inside when suddenly he heard children’s screams from outside!
Without a second thought, Lin Fei rushed outside, finding Keke and Lin An running towards him, crying, "Dad! Dad! It’s bad, there’s a snake! A snake!"
Lin Fei was shocked. He immediately picked up the two children and asked, "Where is the snake?"
The children pointed towards the distant lawn, where Lin Fei indeed saw a snake with red flower patterns crawling in the yard. Upon seeing Lin Fei, the snake charged towards him. Lin Fei frowned and kicked the snake away, which landed at a distant place and slithered away through the sewer. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"What’s going on here? Immortal Wei Huo?" Lin Fei asked, unable to believe this was normal, since there had never been snakes in their neighborhood.
Immortal Wei Huo frowned deeply, not answering immediately, leaving Lin Fei with a foreboding sense. He asked, "Immortal Wei Huo, just say it directly. Could it be that the curse power elimination failed?"
"No..." Immortal Wei Huo thought for a moment and shook his head, "It shouldn’t be, because if the curse power wasn’t eliminated, there couldn’t possibly be just one snake."
"How many days left?" Lin Fei asked.
Immortal Wei Huo counted on his fingers and said, "Four more days."
"Give me the stone." Lin Fei extended his hand, asking Immortal Wei Huo for the Divine Stone.
Without a second thought, Immortal Wei Huo handed the Divine Stone to Lin Fei, whose brow furrowed as he said, "If anything strange happens to me, I will crush this thing. Wouldn’t you blame me, Immortal Wei Huo?"
"No, your safety is what’s most important. As a Law Enforcer, you have the right to do so. I only hope for success. Since there hasn’t been, I wouldn’t harm you!" Immortal Wei Huo said.
Lin Fei nodded, knowing that Immortal Wei Huo cared about the common people. Hence, he greatly admired Immortal Wei Huo, even though there’s been some misunderstanding between them. Once cleared, it would only deepen their relationship.
Quietly waiting as time wore on, Lin Fei noticed that the snakes in the yard seemed to be increasing in number...
Lin Fei didn’t know what to do, choosing to let the women and kids stay elsewhere temporarily, leaving him alone here to at least prepare for any unfortunate event without affecting his family, friends, and children...
