The King of Urban Mercenaries-Chapter 1356 - 1359: The Apprenticeship Ceremony
Lin Fei became different, as if he transformed into another person. An invisible aura exuded from him, emanating a powerful presence that imposed a mental pressure on others, much like an emperor facing a commoner, making the latter find it hard to bear.
Checking the time, it was still early. Lin Fei closed his eyes again, sensing the differences around him. He continued meditating, merging himself into this world.
Finally, at eleven o’clock in the morning, the Dou Sect Master walked at the front, followed by a long line of disciples, arriving at the peak of Man Mountain, where the apprenticeship ceremony was about to begin!
Liu Muqing arrived at the place near the Heaven’s Flying Stone and saw Lin Fei still meditating. He quietly sensed the invisible aura on Lin Fei, smiled, and said: "Junior brother, the apprenticeship ceremony is starting, wake up!"
The voice seemed to echo beside Lin Fei’s ears, prompting him to open his eyes. Seeing the blazing sun, he turned his gaze to Liu Muqing and, upon seeing him, spoke: "Senior brother, thank you."
"Why thank me? This is your own realization and what you gathered has nothing to do with me. I only led you here; the rest depends on you. It seems you’ve gained quite the benefit," Liu Muqing laughed.
Lin Fei nodded, saying, "It’s not really any benefit, just an extra layer of understanding. It may not be of use now but might prove effective later. But aren’t you curious? Don’t you want to know what realization I attained?"
"Of course," Liu Muqing immediately responded, then laughed, "Of course not. Everyone’s realizations are different, even if you tell me, I already have my own realization. Adding yours would just create chaos—scattered and not fine-tuned. What I need to do is push my own realization to the extreme; at that point, there will be no distinction between strong and weak, and my realization will be most suited for me. Yours belongs to you and is of no use to me."
"Then why do Master Lectures exist?" Lin Fei chuckled, stood up, and walked towards Liu Muqing, who was able to resolve his confusion so naturally, unlike masters or elders where one hesitated before asking questions.
"Master Lectures are divided into two kinds: one, real masters, who have comprehended their realizations deeply and simplified them for others to more easily grasp what they realized; the other, fake masters, who boast after grasping a little and end up riddled with flaws, unable to convince the crowd, mostly relying on mystification." Liu Muqing explained as they walked.
Lin Fei nodded. Though he understood this before, Liu Muqing’s explanation clarified it more for him.
"Woo woo..."
The resounding horn sounded, enveloping the entire Man Mountain with its awe-inspiring notes.
"Hurry, the apprenticeship ceremony is starting," Liu Muqing urged as they rushed onto the high platform of Jade Emperor Peak. At this moment, the Dou Sect Master was performing rituals to heaven and earth, inserting a stick of incense into a giant bronze censer before sitting in the chair in front of it.
"Now, the apprenticeship ceremony begins!" The Beidou Sect Leader, Leng Daoqiu, personally stood behind the Dou Sect Master and called out to the crowd.
The voice fell and suddenly a burst of instrumental music sounded; all the Beidou Sect disciples arrived, neatly standing on both sides, waiting for the protagonist’s entry.
"Lin Fei, it’s your turn now, go ahead!" Liu Muqing said.
Lin Fei nodded, straightened his attire, and walked purposefully to the center, then towards the Dou Sect Master, directly advancing towards him.
Around, members of other family factions looked over, and discussions arose when they saw Lin Fei.
"Is this the Dou Sect Master’s closed-door disciple? He certainly looks impressive and carries an unusual aura."
"What does that matter? In my opinion, he’s lacking as his Heaven and Earth Qi is quite minimal. He’s definitely not a genius."
"But I heard he has only been exposed to Ancient Martial for a few months and apparently defeated Murong Gang at the Murong Family, a child born into an Ancient Martial family!" An elder sighed.
"Really?"
The elder’s words clearly drew the crowd’s attention, sparking numerous discussions, and numerous people turned towards the Murong Family, who were following their Family Head.
"Murong Gang of the Murong Family is here, look at his grim face—those rumors must be true!"
"I think they are true too. But a person raised in an Ancient Martial family defeated by an unknown amateur, who has never trained—it’s quite disappointing."
"Indeed, it’s ridiculous."
The Murong Family naturally heard the surrounding mockery, each member frowning, wishing to silence those people, but their greatest resentment was reserved for Lin Fei, since all this was his doing.
Especially Murong Gang, whose eyes were ablaze with fury, eager to demolish Lin Fei!
The crowd had differing opinions on Lin Fei’s appearance, yet Lin Fei remained oblivious, heading toward the center with increasing numbers of disciples noticing him. At this point, among the female disciples, Shangguan Yu saw Lin Fei and clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white, muttering bitterly: "I didn’t expect the Master’s closed-door disciple to be him!"
"What’s wrong, junior sister? Do you know Lin Fei?" At this moment, Qingfeng asked, standing beside Shangguan Yu.
"I know him. How could I not? Even if he turns to ashes, I’d recognize him!" Shangguan Yu’s tone was filled with hatred, recalling how Lin Fei bullied her at the cultivation field, utterly embarrassing her—not only did he hug her, but buried his face between her beautiful peaks. To top it all off, Lin Fei dealt a black blow, injuring her rib, which was only discovered after a check-up that revealed a fracture.
Shangguan Yu vowed not to spare Lin Fei for such hatred.
Understanding the hint of resentment in Shangguan Yu’s words, Qingfeng refrained from further questioning, observing the man his master patiently awaited, finding Lin Fei strikingly handsome, captivating her.
Suddenly, Qingfeng awakened from her thoughts, quickly purged her mind of random thoughts, thinking: "What’s wrong with me? I shouldn’t be thinking this way, it seems I need to focus better on cultivation..."
At this moment, Lin Fei arrived before the Dou Sect Master and performed the ceremonial three kneels and nine kowtows, saying: "Disciple Lin Fei, pays respect to Master!"
The Dou Sect Master smiled and nodded, saying to Lin Fei: "Rise, my disciple..."
"Thank you, Master!" Lin Fei stood up.
