Chapter 1296: Chapter 1299: Playing with Life

"Please stay, our boss wants to see you." Five or six men in black clothes blocked Lin Fei and the others’ path.

"Who is your boss?" Lin Fei asked.

"You’ll find out once you see him." The man in black played coy.

Lin Fei nodded. These men’s chests were bulging, evidently carrying weapons, and with Xue Mei by his side, he was worried she might get hurt, so he agreed readily.

The three followed a man in black who led the way, heading forward, while five other men in black walked behind them watching, making the atmosphere much more tense.

"Dong dong dong..."

"Come in." A voice came from inside the room.

Lin Fei and the others were brought into the room, seeing only one middle-aged man sitting at the desk working. Upon seeing them, the middle-aged man spoke, "You can leave now. Without my orders, no one is to come in."

The middle-aged man finished speaking and turned to Lin Fei and the others, saying, "Sit down and have a cup of tea. I’ve heard that you’re leaving?"

Apparently, the middle-aged man had installed numerous cameras in the boxing ring; he knew everything that was happening inside. He surely saw the martial artist’s apprenticeship and thus immediately brought Lin Fei’s group over.

"Yes, boss." The martial artist replied.

"Then let me ask you, how have I treated you?" the middle-aged man asked.

The martial artist replied, "You’ve treated me very well."

The middle-aged man nodded and came before Lin Fei, saying, "Hello, I’m Wang Dabiao, people here call me cousin, and I’m the owner here."

Lin Fei nodded but did not shake hands with the other, instead saying, "Why are you looking for me now? We’re all quite busy, aren’t we?"

Wang Dabiao nodded and said, "Indeed, we are all busy, but someone took my employee, and I can’t just watch my employee run off with someone else, can I?"

"She went willingly, which has nothing to do with us," Xue Mei said.

"Willingly? Very well."

Wang Dabiao nodded and came before the martial artist, saying, "I heard that you’re willing?"

The martial artist nodded and said, "I just want to become stronger, and they can make me stronger."

The middle-aged man Wang Dabiao nodded and said, "Everyone has their ambitions. I don’t oppose your desire to be stronger, but shouldn’t you pay back the debt you’ve owed me over the years? Once it’s cleared, we can call it even, and you can go your way, and I’ll go mine, how about that?"

"Debt? Boss, when did I owe you money?" The martial artist was completely baffled, clueless about any debt.

"Look, we’ve known each other for a while, so you can’t be ungrateful. Over the years, I haven’t asked you for your fighter fees, have I? I haven’t charged you for the publicity I’ve done for you, have I? I’ve taken care of your meals and lodging. Do you honestly think I would support someone like you? Since you want to leave, naturally, all accounts must be settled."

Wang Dabiao spoke, looking at the bewildered martial artist, and said, "Don’t forget, I know where your family lives; skipping school is out of the question."

"Boss, you must be mistaken; there’s no debt. Don’t forget, when I appeared, you didn’t pay me either, but I made a lot of money for you, I know!" the martial artist said.

Wang Dabiao chuckled and then said, "You became famous, and fame fees are very costly." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Someone like him would get famous standing on the street, how expensive could it be? You’re just trying to extort, aren’t you?" Lin Fei said, having seen through this so-called boss’s real intentions—to get one last big payout by creating numerous reasons.

"Wrong, brother, we are a legitimate business, how could we be associated with those extortionists? I’m just discussing the facts and reasoning with them." Wang Dabiao looked aggrieved.

"The darkest of the dark is you." Lin Fei sneered.

The martial artist said, "How much is owed? I’ll give it to you."

Wang Dabiao said, "Not much, just 3,689,123.54 yuan! Since we’re acquaintances, just give me three million and we’ll call it even."

"Why so much? I... I don’t have that much money!" the martial artist said.

"No money? No money, and you want to run? No money, and you want to get stronger? How do you get stronger without money, huh?" Wang Dabiao suddenly yelled at the martial artist.

But Lin Fei couldn’t take it any longer, tossing his card to Wang Dabiao, saying, "No need to count; we’re leaving."

Wang Dabiao looked at the card and shouted, "Wait a minute! What is this? You think 2 million can settle the debt?!"

"2 million?" Lin Fei checked the balance and indeed found 2 million, saying, "Your boxing ring is so unreliable. I brought 20,000 to gamble, doubling it to 40,000, then 80,000, 160,000, 320,000, 640,000, nine rounds of doubling, the amount wouldn’t be less than 3 million, definitely more—and the card you gave me only has 2 million? You think I’m an idiot?"

Wang Dabiao sneered, "Whether you’re an idiot, I don’t know, all I know is you don’t have enough money now, and you must give me money! Without it, don’t think you can take anyone with you!"

"To hell with your money." Lin Fei said no more, directly grabbing Wang Dabiao’s tie, pulling him close, and said, "You want money? Do you believe I’ll make you rich with nowhere to spend it?"

"Wait, wait!" Wang Dabiao shouted quickly.

Lin Fei loosened his grip slightly, giving Wang Dabiao some breath and a chance to speak.

Finally, Wang Dabiao breathed a few times and then shouted, "Get in here!"

Bam!

A shout accompanied by a hand slap on the table, and suddenly the door opened with seven or eight men in black rushing into the room, awaiting Wang Dabiao’s orders.

"You played your trick well, but do you think you can survive it?" Lin Fei asked, his face a bit dark; he never expected Wang Dabiao’s purpose in asking him to wait was just to call in reinforcements, it caught him off guard.

"You have to ask whether one life of mine is worth exchanging for the lives of three of yours!" Wang Dabiao didn’t back down at all, acting like a desperate madman. "Think carefully, what’s in their pockets isn’t knives; those things aren’t toys—they’ll shoot through a few of you, I can’t say."

"You want to gamble lives?" Lin Fei said coldly; if angered, he could kill them all, but he dared not act rashly with others beside him.
