The Kidnapped Bride-Chapter 575 - Not married!?
575 Not married!?
Hannah’s eyes widened as she shifted her focus. She turned around to find no one else but someone whom she was trying to run away from for so many years. “Y-You...why..”
“Uncle!” Ariana called his name when her gaze found Ellen standing very close to where she was with Hannah. Her excitement to be with both of them was high since it was very strange to get more alone time with dad. “Daddy said that he was going to a meeting...
“Javier is in a meeting but I’m not required to be there,” Ellen answered but his reply was a hint at Hannah too. At the same time, Hannah’s heart skipped a beat. Her face turned paler than a sheet and her mind ran through different directions. She wanted to run away but knowing her situation, being alone with Ellen will only make things worse.
Meanwhile, Ellen’s brows twisted, and told again, “I asked you a question, Hannah.”
“Hmm? W-what? I..I...Javier called me so that I meet Ariana here...” she wasn’t holding any courage but her mind was going through jungles. “But I didn’t ask you that. Why were you ignoring me for so many years?”
“Did I?” asked Hannah, showing her innocent gestures. “I don’t think I-I was ignoring you. Maybe you get this way.” she again said but her heart pounded in her heart when Ellen took another step in her direction. She gulped and her breath was stuck in her throat.
As much as she wanted to maintain her distance from this man, her legs were already at the edge of giving up. Horror struck her body and as much as she wanted to avoid it, he came over. “Ellen..”
“I think we should have a proper talk once...right, Hannah?” The words contained thread and Hannah shook her head. “We don’t have anything to talk about...right?” With this, her grip around Ariana tightened and she managed to smuggle through his trap to walk over to the other side of the bakery.
“Ari...why don’t you try this cookie?” Ariana readily agreed and Hannah paid for it. She took the cookies packed in a box and brought Ariana to the table to open the box for her and serve her one. “Here, eat it. But slowly.” Ariana happily took the cookie and ate it at her slow pace. However, her eyes wandered around to find Ellen had vanished from the place.
.....
‘Where has he gone now?’ She was dumbfounded. Unfortunately, then her attention was pulled to see another person who has self-invited himself to their table. “Ladies, I think I will be joining here. You won’t mind, Ari, right?” Ellen softly asked and Ariana shook her head. Her mouth was filled with bites of cookies. 𝘧𝘳𝑒ℯ𝔀𝘦𝒃𝘯𝒐𝐯e𝗹. co𝐦
However, Hannah was almost resistant to this situation. Under the table, her hands curled into a fist which was ready to be thrown at the man opposite to her. If not for the accident a few years ago, maybe she wouldn’t have felt this.
But due to the circumstances, she had decided to leave the place. It was hard to ignore those arising feelings in her head. She didn’t want herself to feel those emotions that she won’t be able to handle over time. Yet things changed... She changed. But why does her heart still lose its pace when this face comes in front of her?
Hannah was passing Ellen deadly glares and in return, Ellen was only gazing at her. In between her eye contact, Hannah had cursed him millions of times in her heart. But she didn’t want herself to come out straight and appear as if she was affected by his mere presence.
“Hannah, I tried to call you. But you never picked it up. You never replied to my mes-”
“Why should I reply to your message? Who are you?” Hannah answered fiercely but Ellen responded with a whisper, “As a friend...
“A friend? hah, what a joke it sounds to my ears!” she didn’t want to drag down their history into this. All the time she had spent in the Johnson state, was with this man. She was asked to live with him, they shared their respective heartbreaking stories too. But in the end, they got entangled in the emotions which were forbidden. Yet Hannah tried to accept that freely, but this man was too apprehensive about her approach and his life.
Her words caused something to stir in Ellen’s heart. He stared at Hannah’s face, only to realize that she had grown up maturely. Her wavy hair reached to her waist and her earrings were enhancing her famine look. She wasn’t that tomboy or hooligan whom he had met at the airport.
A smirk pulled on his lips when he picked a cookie from Ariana’s box, “Hmm. Maybe a joke to you but both of us know nothing was wrong. Both of us did everything voluntarily, either in that house or...two years ago, in that hotel.”
Hearing his words, Hannah’s cheeks burned with shame. How much she didn’t want to remember that night and here he was, bringing it up to put salt in her wounds. Why can’t she tear him apart right now?
But to avoid falling into any danger, Hannah shifted her gaze to the little girl who was soundly enjoying the packet of cookies. “Do you like it, Ari?”
“Yes! It tastes so good. Even our butler doesn’t make such tasty cookies...” Ariana answered and Hannah smiled, “Hmm. You know, your mother also had a craving for sweet things.” Hannah complimented but Ariana didn’t say much. She only smiled but her eyes lifted at the mention of her late mother.
Yet in the middle of the conversation, Ariana realized something. Her eyes shone out, as her curiosity looked at her aunt to ask, “Aunt Hannah, why are you not married till now? Don’t ladies get married?”
