The Invincible Full-Moon System-Chapter 1120: Another Reason to get Stronger
Seeing Rex survive after being decapitated cleanly was indeed a surprising sight.
No Werewolves in the past could replicate such a feat, without the help of a higher power—most certainly not when they were in a weakened state as Rex was right now. Obviously, his survival came as a surprise for the Fourthborn.
But that surprise quickly turned into an amused smile.
"Good..." the Fourthborn mused excitedly. "Very good. Starting over again is really great!"
Coming to find that Rex was treating him as an equal, the Fourtborn couldn't hide his strong excitement. In the ancient past—there was no one who has the bravery to speak like that to him, and it was quite boring.
Then again, considering his standing, he couldn't complain as it was completely natural.
Everyone fears him, and he understands them.
However, now that the era has turned over a new page—the Fourthborn could start over.
Making a deliberate and nonchalant movement—the Fourtborn withdrew his lethal claws, out of Solomon's body—then repelled the others with a surge of warm chaos energy. Locking his eyes with Rex, a fierce and excited light gleamed in his own, "I love that look you're giving me—It's been such a long time since someone stared at me like that, and I missed it dearly"
As he said that, the Fourtborn clasped his face—his body shivered in sheer excitement.
It was a reaction that made him look crazy and disturbing.
"Some day, Fourthborn," Rex uttered with the same maniacal look. "Some day..." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Upon saying that, a bright baby blue flash pierced through the air—blitzing past the others in a quick maneuver and hitting the Fourthborn from the back. In the next instant, deadly claws pierced the Fourthborn from behind, through his chest.
Aware of the trouble the Fourthborn might bring—the Ice and Snow Princess came to help.
Recovering more of her power—she managed to inflict a lethal blow to the Fourthborn.
But even then, the Fourthborn didn't avert his gaze away from Rex.
He was still smiling and maintaining an excited gaze despite blood drizzling down his mouth.
"Please do savor what little time you—and your insignificant others have left," the Fourthborn drawled, his aura waning with each passing moment. "Unlike our defective Fifthborn, you are about to face a real Executor. Lump us with him, and you'll meet your end prematurely, which would be no fun. So don't do that, okay?"
"This encounter is just a taster, and the main course would come in due time," He added.
Soon, his aura vanishes and the Executor's body slumped lifeless again.
Making sure that he stayed dead this time, the Ice and Moon Princess ripped his body apart.
It was only then that the Executor's corpse evaporated, turning into chaos energy.
On the other hand, Rex stood gazing at the spot where the Executor had stood earlier with a vacant expression for a fleeting moment. Eventually—he shook off his haze with a sigh as he watched the chaos energy dissipating into the sky.
Guess he couldn't stay for too long. I thought it would be harder to get rid of him.
Despite keeping a strong front, he knew that the situation earlier was dire.
Had the Fourthborn retained a sliver of his power, then Rex wouldn't be able to do anything.
"Consider our deal is over with this, Royal Black Prince" Suddenly, the Ice and Snow Princess commented—giving a particular gaze towards Rex. "I'll be taking my leave. Congratulations— on your victory, it's well deserved"
After giving her last piece, the Ice and Snow Princess darted into the horizon and vanished.
Since the battle was now finally over, their deal was done.
Rex wasn't listening to what the Ice and Snow Princess was saying though, his mind was still fixed on the Fourthborn. He knew that the Fourthborn came to save the Executors' image as a prominent force, but he practically did nothing of substantial.
He only came and announced that he would return to kill Rex.
It was a threat that held no essence considering that there was a lot who wanted Rex dead.
But even then—Rex refused to entertain the notion that the Fourthborn had come to only do what he did and left without achieving anything. As a sense of unease settled in his heart, a sudden voice caught his attention, causing his heart to skip a beat.
"Rex...?"
Glancing at the source of the voice, Rex sucked in a cold breath as his unease was justified.
Due to the shock that the others were struck with, seeing him get decapitated cleanly earlier—leaves an opportune gap. One figure was neglected and was still being attacked. Now, the realization came like a speeding truck hitting his mind awake.
Similarly, the others were also experiencing the same shocking realization.
As the others were concerned about Rex, Edward was still attacked by the shadow figures.
Edward protected himself until he received a direct blow from the Fourthborn.
It happened when the Fourthborn stabbed Solomon.
He gave Edward a subtle glance, casting him a smirk before his eyes flashed with power.
Now, Edward was kneeling on one knee with chaos markings across his form.
His breaths were labored, and his expression was drained.
Looking down at his own body, riddled with wounds and sinister markings of chaos—Edward had his eyes widened. He then turned his gaze back to Rex—but the surprise he had, did not stay for long as he gave Rex a nod before he slumped forward, dissolving into chaos energy.
Some sort of last gesture of goodbye before he fell down face-first.
Psshh!
Upon looking at this, Rex's eyes widened before a surge of energy bulbed from within.
In a flash, he went over to where Edward had vanished, gritting his teeth.
Observing Edward's remains, a purple wet spot on the ground—Rex found that it didn't seem like he evaporated into chaos energy like the Executor's body did. Had he evaporated, then it is a clear indication that he most likely died.
But there was a residual essence of him lingering in the vicinity, but it was getting fainter.
Regardless of that, from the cues alone, Rex knew that Edward was not dead.
System! What happened to him?!
[An upgrade of the System's main frame is in process, please kindly be patient...]
Upon reading this, Rex clicked his tongue before shifting his attention quickly.
Countess! Do you know where he disappeared to?!
'If it was done by one of the Executors, then he must be teleported to the chaos realm'
A vivid recollection of his time, within the chaos realm flooded Rex's mind—transporting him back to the harrowing experience. It happened when the Fifthborn desperately tried to send him away, and he experienced the tip of the chaos realm because of that.
Rex recalled the suffocating grip of the realm, constricting his every movement.
He couldn't use any of his energy in there too.
Without the help of the Countess as his backing, he wouldn't be able to leave that realm.
Not to mention, the chaos realm hosts cataclysmic monsters, that could seem to destroy the whole entire world if brought to the material realm. Rex knew that he was no match for those monsters, and Edward most certainly too.
But that harrowing moment stayed briefly in Rex's mind as he quickly snapped out of it.
"Open the portal to the chaos realm, I know you marked that realm,"
'Don't be foolish. My divine energy is running low from breaking the First Breath's limiter, and even if I do open the portal—what are you going to do? Finding your friend there would take, an extreme amount of luck much less sa-'
"Open the portal..."
Hearing the determination in Rex's voice, the Countess went silent for a brief moment.
It was brief, but that felt long for the impatient Rex.
"OPEN THE FUCKING PORTAL!!"
Sighing lightly—knowing what he was feeling right now would prevent him fully from listening to anything she said—the Countess manifested behind Rex. She was exposed completely to, the onlookers' eyes before she waved her hand undisturbedly.
Channeling her divine energy, she slowly opened a purple portal.
Just like Rex stated, the Countess already marked that realm in case of the unexpected.
Even then, the chaos realm is still a realm unknown to her.
The Countess—out of all people, knew that an unknown realm was extremely dangerous.
It might loom with danger that could potentially even be a threat to her.
As the crack to the other side was opened slightly, vicious strands of energy oozed out.
Like tendrils of a beast unknown—the chaos energy billowing forth from the portal was very dense. Its sheer power sent shivers down the spines of the onlookers—surpassing even the Fiftborn's at his peak of power.
Upon the portal being opened fully, the chaos energy exploded with a powerful gust.
Everyone nearby was pushed back except for Rex.
Knowing that Rex wouldn't be convinced until he saw it firsthand, the Countess shot a small portion of her divine energy into the chaos realm and cut through a path. Her divine energy, as strong as it was, could be seen being devoured by the realm.
Soon enough, however, her eyebrow was raised when she surprisingly found something.
It was a glimpse of Edward's energy, and she quickly followed it.
Her energy cuts through the realm—moving the portal nearer to Edward's location.
Moments later, Rex's eyes shone when he saw Edward's silhouette in the distance.
But it was then that the Countess stopped.
Not even asking questions—Rex readied himself to leap into the portal and save Edward but the Countess stopped him, grabbing ahold of his shoulder, "Say your goodbye for now—you must understand that saving him is impossible at your current state"
"What are you saying?!" Rex's eyes bulged, retaliating fiercely. "Release me!"
Under no circumstances Rex would leave Edward behind inside the chaos realm to suffer.
Even at this instance—he could see that Edward was being torn to shreds by the inhabitants of the chaos realm. His battered body was thrown left and right like a ball being passed from one chaos monster to the other as he screamed in pain.
Rex's ears picked up his scream and instantly felt his chest tighten.
He never heard Edward scream like that.
Moreover, each inflicted wound Edward endured was swiftly healed—courtesy of the chaos energy—subjecting him to an unending cycle of torment and suffering. A perpetual state of extreme pain for eternity.
In response, Rex fought the Countess' group harder, until his body suddenly froze in place.
ROAR!!
Suddenly, a huge body of a monster slithered past the portal mightily.
Rex and the others, transfixed by the portal's unfolding spectacle, watched as the monstrous form kept on going endlessly, its colossal body seeming to stretch into infinity. Eventually, its immense, slitted eye stopped right at the portal, gazing ominously into the material world.
At the sight of the monster's eye, the others felt their blood run cold.
One look is all it takes to know that it was otherworldly strong, beyond their imagination.
A being of destructive force—and its eye also showed that it was an intelligent monster.
Just like what the Countess said, entering the chaos realm would be suicide.
"You see...? No point in trying to save him if you would die trying," the Countess commented.
Despite the vast disparity in strength between them, a chasm that was a hundred or even a thousand times wider, than the gulf that separated Rex from the Fifthborn—from their initial encounter, Rex's eyes bulged fearlessly as he pointed at the monster.
Rex was consumed by madness, "If you touch him, I'll fucking kill you!"
"He's my friend! If even you touched the edge of his hair, or glanced at him with animosity—I'll kill you, monster!!" Rex shouted, his voice extremely hoarse and veins bulging on his neck. "I'll come and destroy your realm and fucking gauged your eyes out—you hear me you damn filth?!"
"I know you can understand me, I swear, if you do anything, I'll fucking eat you alive!!"
Upon hearing this, the monster's eye contracted, showcasing that it was smiling at Rex.
Mockingly, the monster roared once more and slithered away.
Despite the warning that Rex gave, it slithered towards Edward with extreme malice.
On the other hand, Rex held the portal open with his bare hands as the Countess was unable to keep the portal open for longer. Rex kept shouting vicious words at the monster—but even until the last second, the monster ignored him.
