The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 68: Is This a Scam Inn?
I want to die, never have I ever wanted it this much, not only is Chen Qinghan a beast, he’s also a Chen Bapi, a big liar!
"Stop cursing me in your heart, we’re going to stay in the Jade Country for three months, you have enough time to recover." Chen Qinghan said, lightly tapping my arm, showing a bit of goodwill.
"I’ve wasted thousands of years of my life, I’m in utter despair."
"Don’t want to sell that antique anymore?"
"I do! That’s my last solace, the online advice says women relieve stress by shopping, I need money first to ease my inner grief~"
Chen Qinghan let out a couple of low laughs from his chest, his face showing a happy and relaxed expression, different from the gentleness when we first met, now he feels more real to me.
Actually, I find him quite peculiar, he has long known I’m the living dead from the tomb, yet he has never shown any fear or disgust, treating me no different than ordinary people.
Moreover, he’s never curious about my special abilities, saying he wanted my help for his sister, but it’s been so many days, and he hasn’t urged me once.
He can always guess what I’m thinking, but I can’t guess what he’s thinking, this is an extremely dangerous signal, yet I’m not scared at all.
Maybe deep down I consider him a good person who won’t harm me...
"Umm... the video of your sister at sea was taken years ago, is there a possibility she’s already back?" Although Chen Qinghan doesn’t mention it, he’s never given up on finding his sister over these years, this matter must be very important to him, since I promised to help him, I should be a bit proactive.
"I’m starting to suspect the place she went is that island in your memory."
Chen Qinghan drove the car into a highway service area, the sky was a bit overcast, the weather forecast said there would be a storm in the afternoon.
"Let’s find a place to stay overnight first, we’ll leave tomorrow." The topic about his sister ended before it began.
Before the storm hit, Chen Qinghan found a guesthouse, grass growing on the mud walls, with a two-story building in the yard, wooden windows, wooden doors, and a wood balcony.
A wooden plaque hung above the gate, inscribed with the black lacquered characters ’Void Inn’.
I detached the splints from my arms and legs in the car, although the bones hadn’t deformed, they felt weak and limp.
Chen Qinghan called the guesthouse owner, it’s tourism peak season now, just one room left, and it’s a double bed room, just vacated by a couple at noon.
Seeing the heavy downpour, not knowing when it would stop, Chen Qinghan had no choice but to book the room.
I didn’t mind, sleeping is just a way to pass the time when I’m bored, as long as there’s internet and a phone, I can squat on the toilet all night without any problem.
Carrying me into the inn on his back, Chen Qinghan told the owner I twisted my foot climbing. The owner was very hospitable, giving us a bottle of liniment.
We saw the inn’s advertisement on a billboard by the roadside, then Chen Qinghan called the owner, who guided us here, I didn’t expect it to be such a solitary house, with no other buildings around.
The owner was a woman in her forties, still attractive, wearing a deep V-neck dress, her figure was as good as a young girl’s, her face showed no wrinkles, only a mature demeanor that wasn’t quite young anymore, but still had that unique charm of a mature woman.
Our room was on the second floor, as soon as we entered, I patted Chen Qinghan’s shoulder and whispered, "Do you think we’ve entered a den of thieves? The owner seems like Sun Erniang who sells human flesh Rou Bao."
"You’ve met Sun Erniang?"
"I’ve watched TV dramas."
"Watch less TV, go take a shower, I’ll set up the computer for you."
At the sound of being able to use the computer, all my worries vanished. Holding the clean clothes Chen Qinghan prepared, I dashed into the bathroom.
Although this inn looked rundown from the outside, it was nicely renovated inside, with walls and floors made of natural wood, furniture full of Tibetan Area characteristics, and new bed sheets and covers on the bed.
The bathroom had towels and bath towels, but Chen Qinghan insisted on giving me what he prepared, not letting me use the hotel’s.
After a quick combat shower, I came out to find Chen Qinghan putting on a disposable duvet cover.
Seeing the computer on, I quickly ran to sit in front of it; the series I chased in Sa City had reached a crucial point, now it should have concluded, allowing me to binge-watch the entire thing — how delightful.
"Dry your hair." Chen Qinghan had finished making the bed and walked over to me.
I looked down; water was dripping from my hair onto the floor, "I can use a towel to catch it, I want to watch TV!"
Chen Qinghan sighed over my head, went to the bathroom to take out a hairdryer. Seeing him ready to do it himself, I hurriedly accepted the hairdryer from him, rushing back to dry my hair.
Outside, the rain poured heavily, and the thunder sounded like Thor’s hammer striking above my head. I watched the drama with headphones on while Chen Qinghan came over during intervals, placing cushions behind my back and under my bottom.
"Chen Qinghan, your sister must really love having you as an older brother, considering how attentive you are to someone you just met like me, you must be even better to your family." I commented offhandedly, but Chen Qinghan didn’t respond, instead, he hugged his clothes and headed to the bathroom.
Knock knock knock...
Suddenly, there was a light knock on the door, I took off my headphones and asked, "Who is it?"
"Hello, sorry for bothering you, I’m from 205 next door, could I ask if you have water in your room?" The voice outside sounded like a young girl.
"Yes." I replied through the door.
"Thank you." After a word of gratitude, there was the sound of slipper-clad footsteps receding down the hallway, the kind that drags across the floor.
Water was running loudly in the bathroom, indicating our room had water; that person had probably gone downstairs to find the owner.
Just then, I noticed it had become foggy outside; there’s an old saying describing heavy rain as smoking, but the rain was already fogging. The rain sound was wrapped by thick fog, and the thunder and lightning sounded especially distant — could this be a unique weather phenomenon here?
Curious, I walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, wanting to go out to the balcony for a look.
Before I could open the door, there was a sudden, blood-curdling scream from next door. The scream was so abrupt it nearly gave me a heart attack.
Chen Qinghan must have heard it too; he dashed out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel, water droplets all over his body. He looked quite appealing from the shoulders down, but further up was a head full of foam, with his eyes barely visible through the soapy cover.
"I’ll go take a look, you hurry up and rinse off the foam." I couldn’t help but grin, but the incident next door seemed serious; I quickly put away my smile and opened the door to go out.
The hallway was nearly full of people; a young man was knocking on the door of the room where something happened.
I glanced at the room number; it was 205. Wasn’t the guest in that room supposed to be downstairs finding the owner?
No one answered from inside; someone went downstairs to get the owner, who returned with two people: the owner and a young girl. The girl looked surprised at the crowd gathered in front of room 205.
"What are you all doing at my room’s door?"
