The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 320 - 273: Immunity_3
The previous times we discovered Tower Clan remnants, I carefully thought about it afterward; their sacred places might have originally been built inside mountain peaks, giving rise to the Tower Clan symbol. However, due to earthquakes and other natural factors, the mountains sank underground, leading to the impression that they liked to live below ground.
After all, they simply preferred dark places, not that they feared heights.
Many ancient civilization remnants were destroyed by natural disasters. When our clan excavated ancestral graves, we occasionally found remnants of even earlier civilizations.
Some sunk to the ocean floor, some buried underground; floods, earthquakes, and meteor impacts often destroyed entire cities, leaving only scattered traces. Buildings abandoned due to wars, large-scale infectious diseases, and environmental changes were often well-preserved.
Of course, some people, finding the surface too bustling, preferred peace and voluntarily moved underground, like the Fei Clan; such cases are not uncommon.
"Stop messing around and get some rest before you get so hungry you want to eat someone. Quickly, go to sleep." As I watched Shunfeng, excited like a child, I had no choice but to temper his high spirits with cold reality; in our current situation, he should conserve his energy.
Shunfeng was obedient, immediately lying down on the deck, where the temperature was high enough that there was no worry about catching cold while sleeping.
Xiangyang came back to my side, saying she could keep watch and let us sleep first.
I said no need, as I could go a few days and nights without sleep, suggesting she find a place to sleep as well.
Xiangyang, having spent two days and nights amongst radiation patients in the city and hardly daring to sleep soundly, now felt relieved knowing I was on watch. She climbed into the boat and fell asleep immediately.
These Ancient relics held little appeal for me; I couldn’t even be bothered to look again. In the middle of the night, Shunfeng talked in his sleep while fighting a giant lizard, and Xiangyang called out to her family in her dreams. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Some people appear serene on the surface but bury their emotions inside, while others outwardly seem rough and careless, but in truth... are simply carefree!
The Underworld was endlessly dark, with no sunrise or sound. Shunfeng and Xiangyang slept until the sun was high before awakening.
Upon waking, they endured hunger pangs through morning and afternoon, until by evening, the hunger became unbearable. Shunfeng lay on the ground, suggesting collecting some easy-to-digest fine soil to eat.
With me around, there’s no way I’d let the kids eat dirt. I asked if they’d be okay eating rats, and Shunfeng nodded without hesitating at all, and Xiangyang had no objections either.
Unfortunately, without firewood, there was no way to roast them. Xiangyang suggested dismantling the wings from the ship; they were thin and easy to take apart.
The two of them worked together to remove two sets of wings. Xiangyang had a knife with her; though small, it was sharp. She first shaved off a pile of wood shavings and lit them as kindling to ignite larger pieces of wood.
These pieces burned slowly in the dry air, already well dried and easy to light.
I thought the extreme dryness here, devoid of moisture, might be why nothing grows.
While they ate roast rat, I realized a more pressing issue: people can survive half a month without food, but without water, three days is the limit.
This huge void, like a giant dryer, accelerates the evaporation not only of surface moisture but also the water within our bodies.
"After we finish, let’s go check at Yellow Springs."
"Alright, let’s see if anyone has come down to rescue us."
"Let’s also check if there’s any water," Xiangyang said ambiguously, without directly dismissing Shunfeng’s words. I smiled and nodded: "Yes, let’s go back and see."
The worst-case scenario was that the Fei Clan’s passage above had collapsed too, and Bai Yun couldn’t relay messages to the surface.
Bai Yun didn’t mention the female white-collar worker; maybe I guessed wrong before, and there was no transaction between them.
Perhaps the security guard’s disappearance had alerted the area manager and police, and the female white-collar worker found it inconvenient to strike again after going up, so she fled alone.
I wondered if yesterday’s tremor was felt on the surface, and if it would be mistaken for an earthquake.
With various thoughts in mind, we returned to the Yellow Springs location, where Shunfeng lit a long stick as a torch.
The landslide area remained unchanged, with the lizard’s corpse buried under rocks and the Yellow Springs filled in.
"You two wait here; I’ll dig and take a look," I said, approaching where the water pond used to be, crouching down to start digging. After nearly an hour, I dug out a water pit, or rather, a water ditch.
Since there was no water at the shore, I kept digging as I moved forward, gradually carving out a ditch.
Xiangyang was skillful; yesterday she carved a wooden bowl from boat parts. Now I used the wooden bowl to scoop water, letting it stand still on the ground until the soil settled, allowing them to drink. Our conditions were incredibly limited, but having water was already a blessing.
